Askmewhats Reviews: Paul & Joe Moisturizing Compact Foundation

I am back!!!
After a week of Makeup School Report, I want to thank all my readers for wishing me well and for being happy of my work! I am so happy to share my passion for make-up with you. Thank you for being so sweet and for complimenting my work! No matter how tired I am, made me smile! :) I still have a couple of report from the academy, but let me do a product review first in between! :)

Everyone knows I am an avid Paul & Joe user. I've been raving so much about their products and I've come to realize, I haven't been reviewing the rest of their products. One of the neglected product to review is the P&J Moisturizing Compact Foundation.

I bought no. 30
This is the size of the compact foundation

P&J Moisturizing Compact Foundation says ---

Skin looks flawless with just one coat
Compact cream foundation makes pores vanish and creates a smooth, fine complexion

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • super cute packaging, look at the design!
  • refillable
  • gives out a great coverage but natural looking
  • very convenient to apply cream foundation anytime and anywhere
Cons
  • though this is named "moisturizing compact", this does not work well for super dry skin!
  • expensive
  • not advisable for "older" individuals as it enhances the fine lines
  • the size of the compact is bigger compared to other compacts
Overall

I originally bought this because I do complain about the dryness of my skin, thinking that cream foundation is the answer to my problems. I found that I needed to apply moisturizer still. At times, this can also enhance the dryness of my skin so I think this works very well to NORMAL skin. I find that this will oil up on oily skin individual and will further dry up a dry-skinned individual.

But, given the right application of moisturizer, primer then this foundation, the effect of this foundation is wonderful and natural looking if applied correctly.

Tips
  • moisturize the face of the person you apply makeup to before using this cream foundation, it can easily dry up the skin and enhance flakiness
  • great for younger skin
  • can apply using sponge or brush
  • do not use too much in one application, apply a thin layer and apply more if needed
  • for dry skin: can use this product only
  • for oily skin: pat on a powder to "set" the foundation
Will I repurchase?

No, I'll go for P&J Protective Dual Powder foundation instead.

Where can you purchase and how much?

At Rustan's Makati P&J Counter for Php2,350 (approx $48.00)

No. 30 swatch on hand

Askmewhats Report: Basement Academy Day 5 Fantasy Look

Hello everyone!
Happy Friday! :)

Wow, time flies super fast when you're busy and having a great time.
Last Sunday, we moved our class on that day because the teacher wants us to graduate a day earlier to the hair cutting class, because we have one classmate, Stephanie, who's studying both make-up and hair cutting class so she can't do her finals on the same day!

So anyways, me waking up on a Sunday is not a good idea, but I really don't mind waking up early if we're talking about make-up right?

We were asked to do a research on Fantasy make-up and do a look on it! I've done researches and when you talk about "Fantasy", Fairy make-up always comes to my mind. I wanted something different. And one make-up that I searched caught my eye!

I just saw the photo on Google images and I've researched on who's done this look to thank her for such wonderful inspiration.

This look is done by

Ms. Anabel Vargas

Very pretty, I got inspired
by this look and do some changes
on the eye makeup

Here's my version

Askmewhats Report: Basement Academy Day 4 (Part 2)

Note from Author: School is an intensive 2 weeks program. It's not only 4 days, I've only reported 4 days because it takes time for me to crop the shots and type in a report about that! Though I've graduated last night, I will still continue the report for my school adventure, because you haven't seen everything yet :D

Wow..school is over! I've graduated!!! Weeeeee!!!!!

Anyways, before I talk more on the graduation, let me continue with my class report :)

This is part 2 of my Day 4 class at the Academy. Since we are on a topic of darker foundation, healthy tan look! Bronzy look is part of the class curriculum! I am glad!!! When do I have the chance to put on a super healthy tan on someone?

Bronzy look is fun to do because it gives out a really healthy skin to your model! You can go crazy with shimmers and it's acceptable even in photographs!

What makes a Bronzy Look?

  • Dark Foundation
  • Conceal using a shade lighter than the dark foundation on T-zone and undereye
  • Application of 2way dark foundation
  • Intense contouring focusing on the hollow of the cheeks
  • Eyebrow shaping
  • Shimmery and glittery eyes
  • Strong eyelining
  • Bronzers and highlighters
  • Shimmery lips
Thanks to my dear hubby
for the photos!

Blue, thanks so much for being
such a wonderful model!

Applied aqua colored shimmery e/s
combined with golds

Here's a before and after shot
of pretty Blue

Even at 11:30pm,
we still have time to camwhore

see our tired faces?

If you have the time and energy
I strongly suggest to try the bronzy look!

It makes such huge difference!
I wonder how I'll look wearing darker foundation!
Tanned Chinese? hahahhaa

Askmewhats Report: Basement Academy Day 4 (Part 1)

Hey everyone!!!
How's the morning treating you? I hope everything's well. On my side, there are a lot of things I want to do after make-up class.

Definitely need a haircut! I am still opting for a long 'do or shorten it a bit! This is the time, I want change!!! Well don't take my word for it, I may change my mind in a day or 2! :P

That's just something I've been wanting because the hair isn't doing well the last couple of days, due to late nights and stress, I think my skin is taking a toil too! So yeah, the ugly duckling in me reared it's head! :D

Anyways, another series to share for my makeup class. Day 4 is really fun because I've done looks I've never done in the past! Let's start with

Men's Makeup

Yes, heterosexual men do wear make-up! Well not daily! But on special occasions or those models for print ads or magazines or even on TV! (calling Brad Pitt for model!) lol

What do we do for Men's Makeup?

  • determine the skin tone, lip shade, eye shape
  • use 2-3 shades darker foundation, blend well
  • apply concealer or correctors if needed
  • dab loose powder
  • shade (for that macho look)
My male model is so funny. He was super embarrassed to have make-up on! If you're doing a male make-up who's a first timer, one important factor that I learned is to make the person feel comfortable!!! How?

Chat with him, ask him questions, keep him busy! We ended up talking like we're best friend while "tightlining" his eyes! LOL Yes, he cried, he was in tears, but at least, he didn't punch me on the face! hahaha

Here's my handsome model

An electrical engineering student
working part time in a bookstore

anyone wants him? lol

Now now, he's getting warmed up!

Not as shy as the first few shots

Products used ---

Face

The Face Shop's Dark Cocoa
DollFace Concealer (used as foundation to lighten up his skin)
DollFace Concealer to highlight and contour
MAC shadester all over face

Eyes
MUFE Aqua Eyes in Brown to tightline

Lips
Kiehl's no. 1 lipbalm to moisturize lips
CS Lipstick palette in nude color for lips

DID YOU KNOW THAT?

My male model's skin is acidic after applying the right colored foundation the foundation turned super dark on him after a couple of minutes, make sure to always step back and check and do adjustments!

A before and after shot
