Askmewhats Reviews: TBS Cheek Blush Cream

I am so late with this review!!! The Body Shop's Cheek Blush Cream has been around for quite some time. I was in makeup school at that time when we were told to purchase a cream blush for our "wedding makeup" look. Great excuse to shop and what's even better? I bought this on sale!

Told ya I'm a smart shopper! :D

This cream blush from The Body Shop won a spot at the Glamour Magazine UK site's "Top Ten Cream Blush"
Cheek Blush 02 Raspberry Pink

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • blends easily on cheeks
  • gives a very natural looking flush
  • lasts a long time
  • a little goes a long way
  • consistency is just right, not too thick or runny
  • the color of the tube is the exact color of the cream blush, which I find cute!
  • size is perfect to tote along

Cons
  • a bit messy as compared to using a powdered blush
  • pricey for it's original price, wait for sales!
Overall

You will be surprised to know that this is my first cream blush ever! I bought this because it's required in school. I am too lazy to put on cream blush! I also have this fear that cream blushes can look uneven on areas if not blended well! Too much work! So little time!

We were taught in school that to make your blush lasts longer, you need to put on cream blush as a base to your powder blush! It makes sense! Now I am glad I bought this because I find myself taking this along with me at work and use this for quick flush in between working ours for a quick "rosy cheeks" look.

Though this is a cream blush, this doesn't last as long as I expected. Well, I was expecting for "no more retouching" for the whole day! (I know, I was expecting so much! LOL My bad!) The texture of this cream blush is on the "gel" side, this lasts a tiny bit longer than regular powder blush! Yes, retouching is still needed.

For it's "SALE" price, I would say it's worth it! If it's on regular price? Hmmm...I'd rather Wait!

Tips
  • apply a tiny drop to the apples of your cheeks and smudge and blend until you're happy with the outcome
  • make sure your fingers are clean
  • to make your blush lasts longer, layer a similar shade of powdered blush on top of this cream blush to make the cheek color last longer
  • if you're lazy to use your fingers to blend, you can use a sponge to blend or a brush!
Will I repurchase?

Yes

Where can you purchase and how much?

At The Body Shop stores for Php695 (approx $14.00)
on sale for Php195 (approx $4.50)
Called in The Body Shop Shangri-La branch, they're still ON SALE!!!!

Askmewhats Version: "Safe" Neutral Look

Are you off for an important meeting?
Going for a first date?
Meeting the 'rents?

Those are the moments you would like to sport a very nice neutral eye makeup that does not take a lot of time! You want to look great but not too made up! I've always tried on different colors for eye makeup but if an occasion calls for a natural prim and proper look, there's always one look that comes into my mind! Of course it's neutral. But I call it my "safe" neutral.

A "safe" neutral is a neutral look that you know it's fool proof and mistakes free! You've been doing this look forever and you get compliments each time you create this look.

So, what's my "safe" kind of neutral? You'll know as you read on!

Here's my final eye shot!

Askmewhats' Diagram

Step 1:

Prior to eye makeup application, I applied a layer of MAC Soft Ochre Paintpot.
Using any flat shader brush, pat on Joppa Pearl eyeshadow on the inner center of the lid as shown on diagram.

Step 2:

Apply brown eyeshadow, in my case, I am using STAGE e/s from the So Loverly girls. Lightly swipe it on the outer crease to create a depth.

Step 3:

Highlight with Bonjour Rose Beige e/s

Step 4:

Line the upper lashline with MM Cocoa Gel Liner using my Ecotools Eyeliner brush.

Tightline with Urban Decay 24/7 Bourbon eyeliner, line the waterline as well and use Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Ye-Yo on the inner corner of the eyes to make the eyes pop.

I added natural falsies, curl my lashes and added 2 coats of mascara!

Voila!
Natural looking eyes
that pops! :)

If you girls have the time, show me your version of a safe neutral! Neutrals are neutrals but I'm sure there's one neutral look that's safe to sport anytime of the day! I think I know the reason why I love this look! My mom always compliment me if I sport this eye makeup! Coming from my mom! Who loves her daughter free of makeup! It's a HUGE compliment! LOL

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Askmewhats Reviews: Kiehl's "Ultimate Man' Body Scrub Soap

Askmewhats has always been about "Asking Me What's Out There"! But for the past year, I have talked mostly about girl stuffs! So what about the "men" in our lives?

Well today is the day dedicated for the "Machos" out there! I'm not going to talk about manicure and pedicure for men! It'll scare the guys off and probably block my blog forever! LOL I will be talking about the basic!

CLEANSING

As we all know, most guys do not care about the soap they use. They use whatever's available in the bathroom and that means using "our" soap!

I am glad to introduce this "manly soap" to Keith and of course, I have to give it a test myself because that's how I am, CURIOUS! :P

Kiehl's "Ultimate Man" Body Scrub Soap Says ---

This highly efficient scrub soap, made with sloughing Bran and Oatmeal, thoroughly cleanses skin and facilitates the exfoliation of dead surface cells, helping to alleviate roughness on tougher areas such as elbows and heels.
  • "It's a fatigue scrubber!"
  • Exhilarates and refreshes
  • Cleanses and exfoliates skin
  • Helps relax fatigued skin
  • Formulated with sloughing bran and oatmeal
  • Alleviates roughness on tougher areas like elbows and heels
  • Not tested on animals
Key Ingradients

Oat bran, Oat Kernel Meal, Pumice

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • doesn't dry even MY skin!
  • scent is none overpowering
  • leaves the skin soft yet non-oily
  • lasts longer compared to other oatmeal soap
  • not tested on animals YAY! <--- that's always a plus
  • call it psychological but the scent relaxes me
Cons
  • none
Overall

Keith's specs
  • super oily skin
  • sensitive skin
  • perspires easily

Whatever new soap I have, I've always asked Keith to give it a try and it's always "one usage goes back to SAFEGUARD" for him! lol

With this soap, he was really impressed because this soap leaves his skin "dry" but not the "unhealthy dry" type. He loves the scent as well and he doesn't feel feminine with this product!

MANLY I know!

But his liking for the product intrigues your dear Askmewhats. So I have to give it a try myself!

Nikki's specs
  • very dry skin
  • very sensitive skin
  • seldom perspire
As you can see, we're both opposite but it's interesting how the same product works for both of us! It feels like the soap has been personally made to suit our skin needs! He uses it everyday and I use it once or twice a week for exfoliation!

And that, I can say, it has ---

Mr. and Mrs. Askmewhats'
Seal Of Approval!

Tips
  • Gently massage body with bar to cleanse as it felt like massaging the muscles
  • Not formulated for use on face.
  • Do not rub this soap hard on your skin, be gentle
Will I repurchase?

Yes! Hubby is actually looking for this when we went to Kiehl's branch in Hong Kong!

Where can you purchase and how much?

Kiehl's shop locally at Greenbelt 5, I haven't checked our local price but it's sold in the USA for $13-15

so...has anyone tried this product?

Something New: L'oreal White Perfect Radiance Boosting Double Essence

Excessive Melanin production can saturate cells with dark pigments, leading to skin darkening and preventing your inner rosy glow to shine through. On the surface, your skin looks dull and yellowish.

Without a healthy rosy glow, your skin cannot reach its inner fairness.

For truly radiant skin, L'oreal presents

TRANSPARENT ROSY WHITENING

Disover the new empowered Radiance Boosting Double Essence that both tones down your skin complexion and reveals its rosy transparency.

Intensive double whitening action for a double efficiency.

The double pump enables to associate in one gesture two complementary essences for a double efficiency anti-dark zones and pro-rosy transparency!

Double Action

1. More Rosy Glow:

Enriched in new Tourmaline gemstone, that helps stimulate skin microcirculation, this essence gives you intense radiance and rosy glow!

2. Less Yellowish complexion:

To visiby tone down darkened zones, the formula contains:

  • Advanced Melano-Block, which acts to regulate the melanin production at the source, to help skin become fairer.
  • Pro-Radiance Complex, a powerful combination of Lactic Acid and Glycolic Acid, which helps exfoliate darkened surface dead cells charged with excess melanin, to boost skin transparency.

Results

  • Immediately, skin is perfectly moisturized. Softer and smoother, it looks more transparent.
  • Day after day, skin is intensely fairer, more luminous and a rosy glow shines through!
