Nail Art Tutorial: "M&M" Nails

Mr. AMW is fond of chocolates!  Buying him chocolates as a "surprise" before I head back home is the easiest, no-brainer gift!  One chocolate he adores are M&Ms!  I hope he won't chew my fingers during my sleep!  *scared*!

Can I be honest?  This is one of the hardest nail art tutorial I've done, M&Ms may sound and look easy but it took me a long time to do this!  I hope I give justice to the gorgeous faces of M&Ms inspired by this photo...

Taken by Mr. AMW year 2006
at the Duty Free Shop Philippines

And here's my version...
Yes, I went all the way to my toes!

Step 1:
Apply your preferred base coat to protect your nails.  Apply one coat of Essie Polish in Playa Del Platinum as base.

Step 2:
Gently draw in the shape of the M&Ms.  It is your choice not to draw the "shapes" of M&Ms and paint the respective M&M shades on the nail itself.  I've used different nail polish brands for the shades closest to our favorite chocolate brand!

Step 3:
Using Prettynails' 2 Way nail art pen in Black, gently draw the outline.

Step 4: "Blue M&M"
Use a dotting tool to create the eyes with white polish.

Using the Prettynails' 2 Way Nail Art Pen in Black, draw the rest of the face (eyebrows, mouth and eyes).

Let's not forget the letter "M"

Step 5: "Orange M&M"
Same as the other nails, use dotting tool with white matte polish to create the eyes.

Draw the different expressions of M&Ms.

Again, do not forget the letter "M" using White Prettynails 2 Way Nail Art Pen.

Step 5: "Green M&M"
Create eyes with dotting tool.

The Green M&M is the only female in the group.  Draw extra lashes as shown on photo below.

Step 6: "Red M&M"
Use a dotting tool to create the eyes with white polish.

Draw the expressions of Red M&M.

Step 7: "Yellow M&M"
The yellow M&M is one of the major character for M&M ads.  That's the reason why I chose the yellow to be located on my thumb.  Yellow M&Ms are usually the Peanut version so I have the whole thumb to draw the details of its face!

Since I have bigger space to draw the face, I am using the nail polish brush to create bigger eyes.

Gently draw the rest of the face with Prettynails' 2 Way Nail Art Pen in Black.

Step 8: Optional
After drawing the M&M characters, I felt the design is a bit bland so I added glitters on the "blank" area.

Step 9:
You can choose to blowdry your nails or wait for a couple of minutes.  Making sure the designs are COMPLETELY dry, top your precious nail art with your  choice of top coat!  I used the wrapping method!  I actually applied 2 coats of top coat in this tutorial.

Voila!  Nails ready to be bitten!

Hope everyone gets the kick out of my crazy and colorful nail art tutorial!
Have a wonderful "almost weekend" day!

AMW Version: Twiggy Inspired Summer-Ready Make-Up

I want to continue my discussion on Summer-Ready Make-up!  I just gave tips yesterday on how to summer-readify (if there's such term) your make-up!  Now it's time to create my version of a bright, fun summer make-up anyone can do!

Of course a twist will always be nice!  I have some bottom lash falsies which reminded me so much of Twiggy!  Twiggy-look is known for "cutting the crease" and I want to put a twist!  Bright, summery shades plus the falsies Twiggy is known for!  Are you ready for the outcome?

Here you go, simple shades yet falsies gave  the nice impact!

AMW Diagram
Promise, the steps are super simple
and easy to follow!

Step 1:
Apply a nice, matte base for the colors to pop out.  Most summer shades are not that pigmented like the ones I will use.  So I use Benefit's Lemon Aid.

Pat on MAC Sunshine Yellow eyeshadow with a flat shader blush.  Apply on the crease area going beyond.  Pat more as desired.

 Step 2:
With a small blending brush from the Urban Decay Palette, I applied Milani Garden Mist eyeshadow on the crease area only blending upwards.

Step 3:
Since I planned on using thick falsies, I won't be lining my eyes much, instead I tigthtlined with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Zero (black).  Apply Urban Decay 24/7  Glide on Eye Pencil in Yeyo (white) on the water line to make eyes pop.

Do not forget to fill in your brows.

I re-used GlamBox Mink Lash
I love it that the lashes stay in good shape
even after several usage

I applied A020 lower lash from KKCenterHK
Easy to apply even for a first timer like myself
I used Ardell LashGrip Eyelash Adhesive in Clear

 Voila!  My Twiggy Inspired
Summer-Ready makeup
You can always opt just to create the eye makeup minus the falsies

What's on the rest of my face?

For the Face:
Paul & Joe Moisturizing Compact Foundation 30
MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Light

For the Cheeks:
MAC Mineralize Blush in Superduper Natural
 For the Lips:
Elianto Berry Lipstick in 03
Topped with Niva Lipcare for shine

A huge smile would help!
Curled my hair with my trustee flat iron

Tip for the Day: Summer-Ready make-up!

April....ahhhh everyone's going out for a short trip or beach!  That's the gorgeous part of living in a tropical country like ours!

"I want to look gorgeous but I don't like the sticky feel of make-up!"
"I will be going out with my friends and my crush will also be there, how do I stay pretty?"

 *photo from Google Image

These are the usual issues most of us have especially during the summer season!  Putting on make-up on a hot and humid day is a drag!  Because I've been there and done that...not that I'm an expert in this field!  I would like to share some tips to look "Naturally gorgeous!", well I am  not saying I am, but it wouldn't hurt if you lie!  *bwahahaha!*

Okay, kidding aside, here are some tips I can share on top of my head!  Feel free to click COMMENT and share yours!

(Note from AMW: All photos taken from Google Images)
  • Wash your face with oil-control cleanser (for oily skin) or moisturizing cleanser (for dry skin).

  • Wear sunscreen under your makeup to prevent your face from burning during outdoor activities.

  • If you need to use concealer, conceal only on areas needed then gently pat on with setting powder

  • Foundation addict?  Switch your foundation to light or oil-free during the summer!  Apply only on areas needed coverage.

  • If you can get away with no foundation, opt for tinted moisturizer or BB Cream then set by dusting light powder!

  • Very Oily Skin?  Use an oil-control primer!
  • Apply bronzer for healthy looking skin!

  • Eye makeup: Opt for very natural looking!  Sweep just a tiny amount on the lids for a nice wash of color!  Do not use heavy eyeliners, go for waterproof brown pencil liners if you need to line your eyes.

  • Lips: Apply lipbalms with SPF to protect your lips from the harsh weather!  Apply tinted balm or moisturizing lipstick!

  • Take along with you oil control sheets so you can pat on excess oil anytime of the day!

Stay Sizzling Hot during the summer! :)
Hope these tips help and feel free to share yours!

Weekend Food Tripping at: Jozu Kin

It has been a super busy week for me (what's new?) and it's such a blessing to have it ended with a quiet dinner with good friends!  My best friend is giving birth soon and one of my close friend is going back to the US so it calls for a celebration!  Food celebration!

My best friend decided for us to meet up after work on a very busy and car-infested Friday night at Burgos Circle Taguig.

Because of traffic we came in a bit late, well, actually, super late!  But thank goodness I was able to take shots because my friends were super kind enough to wait for us to arrive before they order!  *blushes*

Angus Prime Chahan
Php199.00 (approx $4.70)
Love this rice!  I love the bits of Angus Prime which I can literally eat on its own!

Chahan Moriawase
Php85.00 (approx $2.00)
Nothing spectacular but I like the texture of the rice.  Not too sticky yet not so dry.

Tofu Steak
Php202.00 (approx $4.80)
Light battered Japanese Tofu served with vegetables and special sauce

My favorite!  Even my friend's 1 year old baby loves it!

Shrimp Tempura
Screw allergies, the sauce served together with this dish
is really perfect for a hungry night!

Chicken Teriyaki Pizza
Php200.00 (approx $4.75)
Mr. AMW's favorite for the night!  I agree with him, unique dish served!
I wish the crust is crunchier though!
Chicken Teriyaki
Php220.00 (approx $5.25)
Just like regular Chicken Teriyaki served in most Japanese restaurants.
Angus Beef
Served in cubes with vegetables!
I like it that its cooked just right!  Easy to chew!

The 2-storey restaurant is small but I find it to be a great place to bond with friends and family!  Servers are very helpful and would attend to your needs!  Parking is a bit hassle especially on a busy Friday night!  Restaurant accepts cash and credit cards!

Will update the details on how to order these! I will get the number and will update here! :)
