AMW Reports: Sperry Top-Sider Weekend Event

What does one need to do to lounge on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon with this view?  Well, I worked super hard for the whole week and finished a makeup gig that morning!

The Lord is good, he made sure to give me some time to relax and enjoy His creation!

And the Lord works his way via Sperry Top-Sider.  I was invited by the wonderful people from Sperry Top-Sider to celebrate with them their passion for the sea. It was held at 1Esplanade at the 2012 Sea Expo.  We were told an exclusive afternoon cruise was also set for us to enjoy!  We were also requested to wear our Nautical outfit, in which I happily obliged!

I was afraid I won't make it on time but it turned out, I was the earliest to arrive and it was nice to have the chance to relax and take a look at their Summer 2012 collection.

I've heard about Sperry Top-siders for the longest time, I used to wish my parents would buy me a pair but it was those days where money should be saved for education or other necessities!

In this expo, I learned that the Sperry Top-Sider has been around for 75 years showcasing to the world their classic American style and now a symbol of seaside adventures.

I get to meet the Retail Division manager of Sperry Top-Sider Philippines, Karen Ong who excited shared to us the Summer 2012 collection and also gave us a preview of Advanced Water Technologies performance footwear designed especially for athletes and enthusiasts who require nothing less than top of class equipment for their sport.

I was also told that there is a Team Sperry Top-sider, a global team of more than 30 Olympic class sailors who exhaustively tested the technology in a range of extreme conditions.  The line includes GripX3 for sailing, the ASV for boating and fiashing and the SON-R technology for  multi water sports.  Quite technical to read but I'm sure water enthusiasts would understand!

At around 5:15pm, we were asked to enjoy the cruise to enjoy the sunset!  In the event, I met the lovely Enciso sisters Vern and Verniece

Time to hop on board!

Earth was also there and we were telling each other how much we enjoyed the sun, the wind and the experience in general!

Earth with Sperry Top-Sider's PR Jay.  Thank you Jay for being super nice and for offering us drinks to keep us cool!

It was wonderful to meet Katrina Ong (sister of Karen Ong) once again after Nuffamily Day event!  The same old bubbly girl remembered me and we chatted like long lost friends!

Everyone on board, I've met lovely people from Cosmopolitan Philippines, Candy Magazine, FHM as well!  Everyone had a great time at the cruise!  We had the boat to ourselves and the weather was perfect!

It's not everyday I can do this, so I may as well relax and enjoy the view!

Before we ended the night, a short presentation was made to showcase the Sperry Top-Sider March Summer 2012 Collection.
These caught my attention!  I checked the prices for you, they range around Php3,400-4,300+.

And my ultimate favorite of them all!
Oh, before I end this post, I, together with Verniece and a girl from Cosmo won Best Nautical Outfit Award!  Thanks to Sperry Top-Sider for picking me, and best of all thank you for making me "stop working" even for a moment and enjoy life!

Sperry Top-Sider is available in Trinoma Mal, Shoe Salon, HideOut in Greenbelt 5, Complex Lifestyle Stores in Eastwood Mall, Ayala Town Center, Ayala Center Cebu, Rustans and selected department stores.  Add them up on Facebook to know more about their new collections.

After busy day from work, have you finally relaxed even for an hour?

AMW Reviews: Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara

Happy Hump Day everyone!  How's the week treating you?  I have a very tight schedule today, all I need is prayers from all of your for good weather!  Please don't rain okay? :)  Don't worry I will definitely share to everyone what's keeping me busy soon...not now....soon!  *laughs*

I won't leave you without a blog post so I'm doing a review on one cute mascara from Lancome called Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara.  The name itself is super intriguing, who doesn't want to look like a doll? (Hopefully not the Chaka doll..laughs) ---> sorry Filipino humor there!

On a serious note, I hope the "chaka doll" (ugly doll) won't tamper a bit of your respect for me!  I should just tape my mouth and go on with the review! :)

Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara says ---
The secret behind doll lashes, finally revealed!
Lancôme's most flirtatious lash look. A volumized, extended and full lash fringe for a wide-eye look.

The secret behind this amazing result?
A new, unique, cone-shaped brush provides an extremely smooth and clean application, precisely defining even your hard-to-reach corners and lower lashes. Combined with the exclusively developed FiberShineTM formula, it sculpts, curls and loads each lash for the ultimate shiny lash fringe. Lift and thicken every single lash without weighing it down. Push up your lashes for your most flirty, wide open eye look.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Cute packaging that can still count as "professional"
  • Cone shaped brush which makes it easier to reach the inner corner of the lashes.
  • The tip of the brush is best used on the lower lashes applied in vertical motion.
  • Coats each lashes pretty well and gives a nice, natural, thick lashes effect.
  • Texture is not too runny nor too dry, it's just right.
  • Doesn't clump my lashes.
  • No crunchy lashes.
  • Holds the curl the whole day!
  • So far, this does not smudge on a super hot and humid weather.
  • At the end of the day, it is easy to remove the mascara with regular eye makeup remover.
Cons
  • Has fragrance.  Personally speaking, I prefer my mascaras to be non-scented.  (Others may put this up on a pro, this is a personal preference.)
  • Did not lengthen my lashes greatly as expected for "Doll Eyes".
  • The price!
Overall
Unique brush head, formulation is light and doesn't create crunchy lashes.  Gives good definition to your lashes minus the "fake" look.

Tips
  • Never share the same mascara wand with other people, if you are a makeup artist, use a disposable mascara wand!
  • A bit tricky to apply at first, I like using the tip of the brush first and apply good amount of mascara on the inner corner of the lashes, then coat the rest of the lashes.
  • 2-3 coats are enough if you have naturally long and thick lashes.
  • 3-5 coats are okay for people who have non-existent lashes.
  • If your lashes clump together, use a spoolie brush to comb your lashes and separate the clumps.
  • For expensive mascaras, you can go beyond 3 months as long you are using the mascara on your own.
Will I repurchase?
For clients --- yes!  For myself, I prefer unscented mascaras.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who doesn't mind splurging on mascara.  This is perfect for those aiming for wide-eyed look as this mascara definitely gives a nice definition coating each of your lashes making it appear thicker and longer.

Where to purchase and how much?
At Lancome Counters at Rockwell, Powerplant Mall, Rustan's Makati and Shangri-la for Php1,895.00 (approx $43.00).
Feel free to add them up on Facebook to learn more about products and contests.

Photo
Since my lashes are naturally short and sparse, I want to show the effect of the lashes in this angle as it will show how the Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara can actually hold my curl at the same time, defining each lash hairs creating thickness and volume.

For me to be able to create a "Doll Eyed" look, I have to apply at least 5-6 coats of Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara brushing at the end with a spoolie.

I like this Better!
(P.S. all I need to do is apply some on the lower lashes)

What's your favorite Lancome mascara and why?

AMW Reviews: Snoe Emu.Thology

I've had my fair share of allergies on my arms, hands and legs and they could get really itchy, dry and plain ugly!  I've bought over-the-counter Steroidal Anti-inflammatory ointment and they cost a lot for such a small tube!

I've heard so much about the advantages of EMU oil and when I recently got the Emu.thology from Snoe, I thought of giving them a try on random spots and I started with the worst area, which was on my right hand!

Snoe Emu.thology says ---
Anti- wrinkle. Anti-oxidant. Hypoallergenic. Anti- inflammatory. Damage Repair. Skin regenerator . Skin repair. Skin protection. Moisturizing. Non-comedogenic. Whitening. Anti- bacterial. Pain Management.

Active ingredients: Emu Oil, Acai berry, Bengkoang, Mulberry Extract, Grapeseed oil and Rosehip oil.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Simple packaging that is quick and easy to use anytime of the day!  The pump makes it easy to control and hygienic.
  • The scent is quite minimal and disappears quickly as compared to other natural oils.
  • Non-greasy, gets absorbed into the skin easily.
  • Relieves itch and pain.
  • Surprisingly heals "broken skin" from all the scratching.
  • Made from natural ingredients.
Cons
  • If you plan to use this all over your body, you will finish up this product in no time!
  • If you have a major case of skin allergies, healing may take a bit longer.
Overall
I am impressed with this product as it works in terms of damage repair, anti-bacterial, pain and itch management and a whole lot more!  Both Mr. AMW and myself have allergies on some areas and he's also using it too!

Tips
  • Apply 1-2 pumps of product on the desired area and massage gently in a circular motion until the product gets completely absorbed into the skin.
  • Once signs of irritations or allergies occur, STOP usage immediately.
  • Be consistent in terms of application, I've used this product at least 2-3 times a day and the part of my skin with allergies and broken skin got healed in less than 2 weeks!
  • If Snoe branches are far from you, you can purchase them online by smiling and clicking HERE.
Will I repurchase?
Yes

To whom do I recommend this to?

Anyone who needs the "natural" version to treat minor skin problems.

Where to purchase and how much?
At Snoe stores (Landmark Trinoma, SM Muntinlupa, Festival Mall, Cinderella Glorietta 4, SM Valenzuela, Robinson's Galleria) for Php499.00 (approx $11.35).

Here is the exact amount of product I use on a small area on my hand that looked way much better today than the first time I used the Snoe Emu.thology!  Sorry, I wasn't able to take a photo of the part as I did not expect my skin to heal this quickly.

The texture of Snoe Emu.thology is like that of a makeup oil cleanser.  Very light and gets absorbed into the skin quite easily without the greasy feel.

I believe there are other brands of Emu oil out there, this one from Snoe is not the pure version and I believe there are other brands that sells the 100% pure version!  How's your experience in using Emu Oil?  Does it work for you as well as it did for me?
