Readers' Corner: My Pregnancy Skincare

Happy Friday my dear readers!  Today, I will be writing a special post on the most requested "Pregnancy Skincare Routine" that I've been doing since I got pregnant.  The readers who asked are either pregnant while some aren't, they just have strong sensitive to product scent or some have really sensitive skin!

Please bear in mind that the products listed below are used based on my continuous product testing and I did ask my Doctor regarding some of the products used below!  If you are pregnant and has sensitivity to certain ingredients, it is very important to ask your doctor, they are way more professional than I am!  :)

It is funny how our body works, as soon as I got pregnant, no matter how much I would like to use my regular skincare regimen, my strong sensitivity to product scents puts me off and it was automatic for me to use the least products possible!  I call my Pregnancy Skincare Regimen the "Evolution of Man" stage!  I started from the super basic "water only" cleansing routine then slowly improving as my morning sickness subsides!

First 2 Months ---
I cannot stay inside a washroom without the urge to throw up so I always try to be as quick as possible when I brush my teeth and wash my face.  My skin survived 2 full months of just plain water and scrubbing my face using my Konjac Sponge! (Please read past review HERE.)  It was a big surprise for me that I did not have breakout at all!  My skin looks okay, not at its best but I can face anyone with bare face at this stage!

AMW Reviews: Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil

I am one super lazy girl when it comes to lotion or body oil application!  There are weeks I would go with straight application and another week leaving my skin bare and dry!

But once I got pregnant and passed my crazy morning sickness stage, I religiously apply these moisturizing products as I find my skin getting even drier than usual!  Let's say I have the best crocodile skin available in the market?  (Limited Croc Skin buyers anyone?) *hahaha*

Thanks to my dearest Shobe Sophie for gifting me this!  I am so touched she thought of me during her vacation in New Zealand/Australia!

Palmer's says ---

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil is an advanced, multi-purpose skin perfection product that can be used all over the body, including face.  Cetesomate-E Complex helps improve the skin penetration and absorption characteristics of the formula into the epidermal layer of the skin.  Cetesomate-E Complex along with our exclusive blend of key ingredients helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, dry, damaged skin, uneven skin tone, aging skin and fine lines and wrinkles.

Skin looks and feels instantly soft and smooth with this unique non-greasy non-staining formula.  Also ideal when used as bath oil for a deep moisturizing treatment.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Palmer's as a brand is against animal testing.
  • Smells great!
  • Moisturized my skin for the whole day!  I only apply this once a day every after shower.
  • The dry patches disappears after 2 weeks of usage.
  • I also use this on my tummy area and Mr. AMW describes my "bump" to be smooth and soft.
  • Gets absorbed into the skin in a minute and skin is grease-less and oil-free.
  • Skin looks shiny and healthy.
  • No allergic reactions or itchiness.
Cons
  • A bit messy, I had to put this inside a plastic resealable bag after every use as the bottle is oily all over.
Overall
A lightweight skin therapy oil that gets absorbs into the skin in no time!  It gives an appearance of soft and smooth skin in an instant and effects of dry skin like dry patches and itchiness is greatly reduced after 2 weeks usage!

Tips
  • Best used after shower or bath.
  • Since the product is a bit oily at first 30 seconds, continuously rub the product on areas needed until the product gets absorbed into the skin and wipe your hands with clean towel.
  • If you are scared to use oil all over your body, uset he Palmer's Skin  Therapy Oil only on areas that tend to dry up.  (Elbows, knees, heels, etc...)
  • Use daily.
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Pregnant and non-preggy friends who likes the moisture of body oil minus the grease!  Works on all skin types!

Where to purchase and how much?
Since this was gifted to me, I'm not sure how much this cost locally so any help from readers who have purchased this will be greatly appreciated :D

Would you give this product a try?  Pregnant or not?
I will definitely continue to use such product even after I give birth! I am loving the scent the way my skin feels after every use!

AMW Reviews: Palmer's Organics Cocoa Butter Massage Cream for Stretch Marks

As most doctors would say, stretch marks are genetics so you cannot depend on any products to totally remove them!  As for me, prevention is still the key and the extra moisturizing ingredients a stretch marks cream has may be helpful especially for someone like me who suffers from extremely dry skin!

Over my twitter account (@AskMeWhats), I've asked around "mommies" on the best stretch marks cream they've used and one of the brands that came up is Palmer's!  I've been eyeing on trying both Palmer's and Mustela but because I visited the Palmer's area first and the sales lady was quite good and knowledgeable!  I left the area with 2 Palmer's products!  (One for my tummy and one for the rest of my body!)

Today, I will be sharing a review AMM (AskMeMom) style on the Palmer's Organics Cocoa Butter Massage Cream for Stretch Marks which I have used consistently for more than a month!

The product is meant for the whole body but since this cream is more concentrated, I've decided to use this on my tummy first since that's the first area that expands!
Palmer's says ---
Palmer's Organics Cocoa Butter Massage Cream for Stretch Marks is a special combination of Certified Organic Cocoa Butter, Aloe, Vitamin E, Soybean Oil, Collagen, and Elastin to keep skin deeply moisturised and help retain its natural elasticity.

This non-greasy concentrated cream is free from Parabens, Mineral Oils and Propylene Glycol. Carton contains 100% recycled material including 20% post-consumer material.

Ingredients

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Squeeze type tube, easy to bring for travel.
  • Light buttery cocoa scent that's manageable.
  • Skin is soft and moisturized.
  • Non-greasy.
  • Moisturizes dry area the whole day!
  • Lesser itch on my tummy area.
Cons
  •  May still cause itchiness to people with very sensitive skin.
  • Scent may still be overwhelming for pregnant women suffering from morning sickness.
Overall
Potent formulation that's made with organic ingredients that works for my sensitive skin.  Very moisturizing and gets absorbed into the skin in no time!

Tips
  • According to Palmer's --- apply Palmer's Organics Cocoa Butter Massage Cream for Stretch Marks 3 times a day on affected areas. The convenient tube can be used on the go. For best results use in conjunction with the Organics Cocoa Butter Massage Lotion For Stretch Marks by applying it daily all over the body.
  • As for me, the most I can apply is 2x a day!  After shower and before I sleep!
  • Apply in a circular motion on areas that needed more moisture.  Since this is more potent, I concentrate application on my tummy and use the "lotion" version for the rest of my body.
  • During pregnancy, skin sensitivity heightens so it is advisable to do a patch test on all skin care products on a small area (inner forearm) 48 hours before first use.
  • If signs of irritations occur, stop usage immediately and check with your doctor.
Will I repurchase?
Yes.

To whom do I recommend this to?
This product is not only meant for pregnant women!  It can also be used for people who prefers organic ingredients plus the extra "collagen" and other moisturizing ingredients for super dry skin!

Where to purchase and how much?
Available at Rustan's for Php595.00 (approx $14.17).

Tube packaging
Easy to control the amount of product needed.

Cream texture
Consistency is just right.  Easy to massage all over body and gets absorbed into my skin in no time!

Do you suffer from stretch marks (yes, even you single ladies!)?
If yes, do you use any special lotion or creams in treating them?
Though I've gained and lost weight through the years, I am one of the few lucky girls who doesn't have problems with stretch marks but I've always been suffering from extreme dryness!  It's uncomfortable, itchy and it makes some areas of my skin dark (from scratching).  Prior to my pregnancy, I use regular lotions/creams but after trying out products that are meant for stretch marks (which turns out to be very moisturizing), I've decided to probably continue this regimen even after I gave birth!
