AMW Reviews: Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder

Happy start of the week AMW friends!
Today's product review is dedicated to my combination/ oily-skinned readers!  I have finally found a loose powder that's housed in a very smart, no spill, no mess packaging!  *yay*  Best of all, the price isn't bad and as a little amount of these goes a long way!  Are you ready to take a peek on what I'm talking about?

Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder

The product is housed in a regular pot packaging but read further to know why this packaging is the best among the rest!

Pros
  • Super smart packaging!  No messy loose powder AT ALL!
  • Fragrance-free.
  • No allergic reactions on my skin.
  • No need to guess the shade of powder needed.  This is translucent and looks very natural on ANY skin tone.
  • Gives a nice oil-control.
  • Lessen the look of pores.
  • Feels light and silky on skin.
  • The product do not settle in fine lines.
  • A perfect tool to "set" foundation without the heavy made-up look.
Cons
  • As opposed to pressed powders, you have to bring a separate brush or powder puff.
  • You cannot find them in malls.
  • Piling too much may create white cast on flash photography.
Neutral
  • Price.
  • This product has no added coverage as it works only as an oil-control, setting powder.
Overall
A nicely packaged loose powder to help eliminate shine, provides a nice "finish" by minimizing the look of lines and pores.

Tips
  • Application is best done with a big powder brush.
  • Gently apply the product only on areas that you need to reduce shine to keep the rest of your face natural and dewy.
  • Always tap the brush before applying on face to prevent "white cast".
  • Less is always more.
  • Prior to retouching midday, wipe off excess oil with a clean tissue paper or oil blotter sheets to prevent chalky effect.
  • For areas on your face that has obvious lines or pores, press the brush gently on those area (with a tiny amount of Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder).  The product will work as a "filler" to give an illusion of even skin.
Will I repurchase?
For clients, YES.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Any makeup users who wants to retouch midday without piling on thick powder foundation.  This product works for girls with normal, combination and oily skin!

Where to purchase and how much?
Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder is available through any mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants for Php800.00 (approx $19.00)

Photos

Thanks Mary Kay as I finally own their cheek brush which I use as a loose powder brush as well!  The natural-bristled hairs are soft to touch!

Back of the packaging

The super innovative powder pot!  You just need to twist the "lid" to open and close the "holes'.

See?  No spillage!  No more messy loose powders!  I can easily take this along for travel!

Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder is finely milled and has a very silky feel!  This goes translucent and works for light to dark skin!

The texture reminded me so much of my Coastal Scents' Silica Powder!

Swatch on Hand
Blending is needed for the product to turn invisible.

Application:
I prefer to apply this product only on areas that tend to oil up!  For me, I like to apply the loose powder on my T-zone.  As for our oily-skinned readers, do not forget to include your cheeks to help "set" the blush to prevent them from fading.

Do you use loose powders?
If yes, what brand are you currently using and are you happy with it?

  1. I'm starting to like Mark Kay! I'm a proud owner of their matte-wear liquid foundation and I love it! It's so light on the skin like you've just put a loose powder.

  2. Hi Nikki! Would you recommend silica powder for flash photography? Kasi I really like how it absorbs oil but I never use it when I go to parties where someone might use flash.
