Readers' Corner: Q&A Portion to Jumpstart 2015

Hi AMW friends!
Today, I will be answering some queries I get from my email!  I think I have to do this or else, I will be loaded forever!  :P  Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with all your emails because that keeps me going!  If you wonder how I get the time to blog?  That's for you to find out *winks*  Just joking, I do so in between breaks!  When I have coffee break or right now, a Calamansi juice break!

Reader Question #1
"What should I invest on aside from makeup kit and brushes if I plan to pursue a career in makeup artistry?"

AMW Answers:
Okay, my answer may probably surprise you but I can actually  put this in an "Unsung Hero" post.  After years of doing makeup, I realized how important Z-Palette is (or any customizable palettes available in the market) for a PRO MUA like me!  Especially when I started to go on gigs on my own, lugging a huge Zuca bag, it is very difficult to transfer from one place to another (ALONE) with a luggage full of makeup, a huge mirror and a bag!

I first "depotted" all my face powders and transferred it to my first Pink Z-Palette and I realized not only does it help lessen the load of my kit, it is very easy for me to do retouch as I only need to carry 1 palette instead of 6 compacts!

I got more Z-palettes and I plan to depot some of my blushes and contour/highlight powders!

I got my 2nd Z-palette online via Shopping District

Reader Question #2
"Nikki, can you recommend a lipgloss brand that has wide range of colors just like MAC but lesser the price tag?"

AMW Answers:
Okay, there are so many good, inexpensive, high-quality lip glosses in the market at present!  Aren't we lucky?  I have to admit, I still own a couple of MAC lip glosses because, well, they are MAC and they are vital in my makeup train case.  BUT, for lesser the price tag, I find myself reaching out for Revlon Super Lustrous Lip glosses (Priced at Php545.00 against Php1,000 of MAC)!  They come in wide variety of shades, non-sticky and definitely more inexpensive than MAC!

Let me know if you want to see swatches and read an in-depth review. :)

Reader Question #3
"I love your hair color.  Doesn't your hair feel dry after coloring?  What do you do to keep your hair in shape?"

AMW answers:
Why thank you for loving my hair color!  I am liking it a lot too!  You're right about my hair feeling dry and lifeless after every color so I make sure to take care of my tresses!  So far, here is my most updated hair care routine.

I shampoo my hair on a daily basis so I use mostly Color-Care Shampoos.  I am alternating Pureology Serious Color Care Precious Oil Shampoo,

and Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo.  Both are really good for my color-treated hair.

And on days my hair feels "heavy" from all the products I apply, I use Clarifying shampoos.  Now, I am using Human Nature's 100% Natural Clarifying Shampoo which I find quite good and not as drying as compared to other Clarifying shampoos!  I love the fact that this product is 100% natural but the only downside is the shorter shelf life!

Now on to Conditioners.  I usually like to pair the brand of my conditioner same as the shampoo BUT, I have to admit, my favorite conditioner that really works is the Cream Silk Daily treatment Conditioner!  I have been hoarding these when I visit Watsons so I'm so happy when I get a set from my Sampleroom family!  Thank you SR!

I usually follow with a Hair Treatment when I have enough time.  Usually 3-4 times a week!  I always have a shower cap inside my bathing area as I am the type of girl who uses her time wisely!  When I take time scrubbing and soaping my body, I want my hair to drink in all the moisture it can!  As of the moment, I am loving the Color Bloom Masque from Matrix's Biolage out of all the variants I've tried!

What if I don't have time to stay inside the bathroom especially now that I don't have yaya for my little one?  I have another solution, as I'm slaving away my corporate work (thank goodness I work from home!)  I use Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment and you want to know my secret?  I'll tell ya! :P

With unwashed "dry" hair, I apply a good amount of this hair treatment all over my hair concentrating on the roots, I wrap my hair in a towel or shower cap and let it sit for at least 20-30 minutes.  I do know how to multi-task *winks*.  Then when it's time for me to take a shower, my hair feels really smooth and smells great!  With this Pre-Shampoo treatment, I can actually skip hair conditioning!

And having sensitised hair really needs all the love and attention!  I just don't stop there!  On days I just use Shampoo + Conditioner combo (without hair treatment), I treat my hair with a quick dose of vitamins!  My favorite until this very moment?   Still Dove's Daily Hair Vitamin!

And since I'm quite open to try new products even if I fell in love with one (that's why I'm a beauty blogger who reviews products!), I recently complimented a beauty blogger friend Tara on how shiny and gorgeous her hair looks, she immediately exclaimed: "Davines from BDJ Box".  I went home, searched on my "hair product" stash and finally saw her secret!  I immediately used this and so far, I'm loving the effect.  I like the scent of Dove Hair Vitamins more but this Davines Absolute Beautifying Potion can definitely keep all the frizz at bay!  My hair feels extra smooth and easy to comb even after shower.

Keep in mind that a little goes a long way!  A drop or 2 is enough to be applied at the ends of your hair.

Whew, okay, I thought I'll be able to answer at least 5 questions but sorry!  As I glanced the clock, it's 2:00am!  Wow, time flies when you're having fun!  I guess, I have to cut this short, I'll be off to sleep with my angels!  Feel free to comment below on some of your answers and if you have any more queries, don't be shy!  Feel free to ask away by commenting below!

  1. Ooooh awesome post! I'll definitely try the Burt's Bees pre treatment shampoo. I have been having problems with my dry hair. I hope it works for me too.

By the way have you tried the Wild Peach palette? I just ordered one the other day and it's like half the price of the Z palette. Just thought I'd let you guys know since it's more affordable and locally available. :)
