Blushing with Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral

As I am reaching out to test different blushes daily, if I may have to repeat, I wear blushes even when I am just staying at home!  So please do not be surprised if you visit me at home wearing comfortable clothes with hair tied up on a bun with "flushing" cheeks!  As much as I would love to say: "Tisay ako", it is untrue...I have blush on my cheeks!

For the past few weeks, I've been using Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral on and off!  I put off writing this for quite some time because I am still unsure as of the moment if I love this or not!  Can you help me please?

The Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush  may look like a regular powder blush but it is hailed as a "revolutionary powder-gel formula".  The product is advertised as a blush "with bounce".  True enough, when you try to grab some of the product using your finger, you can literally feel the "bounce" on pan.

The shade I got is Candy Coral and I believe this shade is really popular online!  Who wouldn't love a universally flattering Coral shade?

Thanks to Maybelline, even for a drugstore brand, I appreciate the extra step of sealing the product and putting up a manufacturing date, clear print on the shade name but minus 1 point for no ingredients list!

Swatch: Candy Coral
As for the moment, I can only comment on the shade Candy Coral.  The texture is indeed an ease to work with!  With just a dip of clean fingers on the "Play-Doh-like textured blush", I can easily apply this over cheeks without accentuating marks, dry spots or fine lines.  The only issue I have is, the lack of pigmentation!

Yes, it is build-able, but how many times do I have to dip and re-dip my fingers to get the pigmentation I want?  Mine you, I have fair skin (NC25).

Now speaking of dipping your fingers, I am not a fan of dipping my fingers directly on the product especially if the product has this "mousse/clay-like" texture.  Instead, I prefer to use a foundation brush in application.  Using a brush, I would still need the help of my trustee fingers to warm up the product as it tends to set into a powder finish.

3 layers of Candy Coral on my Cheeks

Now here's a quick result after using Dream Bouncy Blush a couple of times ---
  • Shade is flattering on me.
  • Applies like a dream.
  • Very lightweight, felt like I have nothing on.
  • No skin irritations or allergic reactions.
  • The shade is matte yet it gives a nice "luminous" effect.
  • Does not accentuate skin problems.
As much as I love the product, there are a few cons I may have to add ---
  • Not long-lasting.  I need to re-apply after 2-3 hours.
  • The blush tends to "leave the pan".
  • Wont' show up on darker skin tone.  So please purchase different shades if you are NC35 beyond.

But here's the good part, for the amount of product you get (around the size of MAC mineralized eyeshadow), this is only priced at Php430.00 (approx $9.70).  With Maybelline sales here and there, you may actually pick this up at lesser the price!

So yes, I am caught in between.  This may not be the best blush available in the market, but the price and the "effect" it gives on my skin is quite nice!

What do you think?
Is this a Yay or Nay?

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

  1. Im in between also;) Yay- Love the formula of this, almost clay-like:) It looks natural Nay- downside of this is lack of pigmentation and ang bilis nya mawala sa cheeks ko:( anyway, for its price, I thinks it works well naman:)
