AMW Reviews: Benefit Porefessional License to Blot

As much as I love Benefit Cosmetics so much!  The POREfesssional line really is not for me!  you probably know by now why!

No?  Well, to newbie readers, I have combination Normal/Dry skin.  So yes, as my sister will probably gasp with this statement: "I almost do not need to retouch midday!" and "My face powder lasts me more than 3 months because I use it only once a day!"

#ChroniclesOfADrySkin

So if you think I am not as excited as my oily-skinned friends when Benefit POREfessional License To Blot came to the market --- you are wrong!   Why?

Because I highly depend on Benefit POREfessional Balm on most of my clients and I finished 3 full sized tubes in a year!

The POREfessional Agent Zero Shine is also a nice setting powder so I seriously didn't think a new product from this line will pop out!  Like what else can Benefit think of right?

You know Benefit Cosmetics, when I got to know the brand last year during my Press Trip in San Francisco, I knew this brand never sleeps!  They are always thinking about new innovation and not just new!  New and UNIQUE!

So the License to Blot was born!

What can this nifty product do?

Benefit Porefessional License to Blot says ---

BLOT on the spot! This instant oil-blotting stick with tiny invisible blotting spheres mattifies shine for up to 6 hours after application.* The specially designed triangular tip targets shiny zones…the sides of your nose, forehead and chin. Oil has finally met its matte!

Ingredients: (from Benefit Website)

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Packaging.
  • Shape of the product.  I find it quite cute and useful!  The sharp tip is best used to reach hard-to-reach areas like the sides of the nose.
  • Mattifies any surface of your skin immediately!
  • Can actually help blur out pores and lines.
  • Can be re-applied all day without messing your makeup.
Cons
  • When you read the ingredients list, you see Paraffin, Beeswax, silica and a lot more!  You can actually imagine what the texture will be like after first application!  It leaves a bit of a "waxy" texture!
  • For extremely oily skin, this won't last 6 full hours!  Maybe just 3-4 hours max and you need to re-apply.

Overall
If we are talking just the oil-blotting power, I will still vote for my favorite blotting paper!  BUT, if you need not only the oil-control but the "blurring" effect on pores and lines, this is not a bad idea!

Tips
from Benefit
  • Lightly apply on face using short, swift strokes.
  • Touch up over makeup during the day, whenever you want to blot on the spot.
from AMW
  •  Best used on top of makeup.
  • Works best together with POREfessional balm!  I find the blurring power is even better!
  • If you have extremely OILY skin, I still highly recommend Agent Zero Shine and a blotting paper.
  • BUT, if you have combination Normal/Oily skin (oils up usually just around the T-zone), then this may be for you!  This can help mattify the skin around the nose and forehead.
  • Start by dabbing a little product and gently pat and blend using your clean fingers.
  • Never rub a lot of product directly on to the skin as it may feel heavy.
  • Once allergic reactions occur, stop usage immediately!
Will I repurchase?
No.  Definitely not for me!  But for clients, I can seriously get away with the combination of Porefessional Balm and Agent Zero Shine!  (My fave combo!)

To whom do I recommend this to?
Oily but not too oily skin users.

Where to purchase and how much?
At local Benefit counters (Greenbelt 5, Rustans Makati, Rustans Shangrila, Mall of Asia, Trinoma, ATC and BGC Central Square) for Php1,100 (approx $25.00)

A closer look on the packaging.
Triangular shaped License to Blot is actually perfect to reach hard-to-reach areas!
The product is really handy so perfect for touch-ups.

Twist for product to come up.

Stick type so the best way to use this is by dabbing the product directly on the area and gently dab with clean fingers.

Before and After
L-Before
R-After

As you can see, the right photo seems blur, but it isn't!  The License to Blot really gives a "blurring effect" thus the look of pores are reduced and even the oil was immediately gone!  There is a bit of "waxy" feel which could be bothersome to others.

(Thanks to my model for this duper closeup shot!  You know who you are!)

How do you feel about the newest product from Benefit's POREfessional line?
Do you think you need this or you can still opt for your favorite blotting sheets?

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

  1. I think this might be a bit weird to use since it'll be sandwiching the oil between the makeup and what I imagine feels like a candle haha maybe I'll try the porefessional balm nalang

  2. As much as i wanna try this, feeling ko I'm trapping the oil in my pores which will cause breakouts, unlike your usual oil blotting paper wherein the paper absorbs the oil. I dunno, as a fan of mattifying products, i don't think i'll buy this. It's a great innovation though!
