The Best Way to Prime Your Skin Before Makeup

I used to buy just one primer and use it all over my face and wonder why I'm not a fan of it.
Then after years of learning about makeup and skincare and continuous learning, I realized that in both makeup and skincare, Mathematics must be included because we should learn to add and subtract.

Add hydration where hydration is needed and subtract grease where it is not needed.

We thought it was as simple as that but it also takes effort to choose the right type of primers that would aid you and your skin to be ready for makeup.

I recently chanced upon the newest product from Sleek MakeUp, they finally came up with their own primer and they are available in 2 variants --- Mattifying Primer for Soft-Focus Finish and Hydrating Primer for Moisturising.

I used to just go for Hydrating primers and skip the Mattifying ones because I always tell YOU I have dry skin but after years of treating my dry skin, I turned out to have combination skin --- Normal and Dry.  So here's the best way for met o apply Primer and you can maybe get a tip or 2 from this post!

Sleek MakeUP Mattifying Primer helps reduce oil for flawless looking, matte skin. Soft-focus powders provide a velvety finish and help blur the appearance of fine lines. While the Sleek MakeUP hydrating lightweight primer moisturizes the skin for flawless looking makeup application. The moisture-rich formula contains known hydrating ingredients and makes skin feel smooth.

As you can see, the hydrating primer has more watery consistency as compared to the Mattifying one.  But both are cream-like and very easy to work with.  I like it that both feel lightweight when applied on skin and does not add up to the heavy or greasy feel!

Blended
The Mattifying Primer looks "Whiter" as compared to the Hydrating Primer which is more translucent once blended.  The hydrating primer feels like a gel moisturizer.

For application, I love to apply the Hydrating Primer on almost 3/4 area of my face as most of those part tends to get dry midday especially with makeup on.  I apply this more on the cheeks with a gentle dabbing motion to lock-in moisture.

For the Mattifying Primer, I apply a good amount on my forehead and nose area where it tends to oil-up midday.

You don't have to follow the exact step as I did, more importantly, you only need to wash your hands and touch your face gently while it's clean and fresh.  Get to know face for you to know where to apply specific products.  If you have oily skin overall, you can still use 2 products as oily skin tends to have OIL on the exterior but very dry and course on the outer layer of the skin itself.  What I do with my clients is that I apply a thin layer of Hydrating Primer all over then wait for it to settle and dry.  Once the skin is dry, I apply another layer of Mattifying Primer on areas that tend to oil-up.  With this trick, I get a smoother, more even coverage of base makeup and it lasts longer.

How about you?
Do you have other Primer tips to share?

As for these Primers from Sleek MakeUP, I am very happy to report that both products work in terms of mattifying and hydrating areas applied with products.  I am happy to report as well that I did not suffer any allergic reactions testing both products out!  I am glad the Mattifying Primer did not dry out my skin like other similar products do and thankfully, it does help keep makeup last longer and look better!

Sleek MakeUP Mattifying and Hydrating Primers are available at Sleek MakeUP counters near you priced individually at Php695.00.  For more information about products and the brand, Like https://www.facebook.com/SleekMakeupPhilippines/ and follow them on Instagram.
