Thevi Cosmetics

** note: HEAVY POST

I was contacted by Thevi Cosmetics to do a review on their products. First thing I do? I check their website. I was a bit hesitant at first as the first thing I check is the shipping. Do they ship internationally? And wait a minute, do they know where I am located?

I sent an email to Connie at once telling her I'm not from the US and I'm located in one of the 7,107 islands in the Philippines (lol, of course I just stated it in simpler terms --- I am from Manila, Philippines!) Connie said it's still ok and she wanted me to do a review for their products.

I am a researcher, a super curious researcher! I've read about the Thevi brand and understand their company mission. What caught my eye is this

Inner Beauty Made Visible

I said yes and I'll definitely do an in-depth review on this for consumers like me who wants to buy products that are "worth it" and products that would bring out the inner beauty in us!

And this package is one example of inner beauty --- what's beautiful are inside LOL
(gosh I am joking again!)

The Lovely Box Wonderful brochure with all product information and prices!
I also received a lovely letter from the president of Thevi Cosmetics
Ms. Thevaki Thambirajah

We have to take a photo of the back of the brochure as they obviously took time and a lot of effort in creating this wonderful brochure. I like it that they included in the brochure the different product lines with different color selections! I don't need to open the website again and again just to check out the colors/prices/products!

Here's what I got for review :

Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation with SPF 15 in Sandy Beige ($32.00)
Triple Split e/s in Venice ($22.00)

Matte e/s no. 231 ($20.00)

High Impact Lipstick in Sequin ($22.00)

and Thevi Dome Blush ($38.00)

And of course! The swatches!
(note: In-depth review will be coming out soon!)

A lot of things to do...

Thank goodness weekend's here!

Happy Friday to all Asian readers...

and weekend is coming soon to the rest of the world!!!

From Malaysia With Love

When I started blogging, I also started learning about make-up and I realized a lot products are available out there and a lot of them are out of my reach!

I was reading a Seventeen magazine one day and I always make sure to check what make-up the cover model is using. I've seen a cute e/s called Bourjois. Bourjois is a French drugstore brand and I've seen a lot of my fellow bloggers talking about their products and your askmewhats can't really relate and if I can't relate? ....I get curious!

A wonderful fellow beauty blogger/friend/angel emailed me to tell me she'll be sending over some of her Bourjois e/s. When she said some..I was thinking 1 or 2 the max. After more than 2 weeks! I finally got the package from her..and I was so surprised with the wonderful gifts she sent me! Now I have more e/s to play with!

Thanks my dear Malaysian Friend *hugs*
I do appreciate the gift and what touched me more
is the little note from you

You know who you are.... *BIG HUGS*

La Femme e/s Quad
2 Milani e/s (L-R Golden Bronze and Rich Chocolate)
3 Bourjois e/s (L-R Bleu Surprenant, Beige Rose, Bleu Myosotis)

Of course!
What's the use of having e/s without swatches?
(I can't wait to use them! Experiment time!)

Are my eyes playing tricks on me?
these are MILANI!!!!

La Femme Quad
They look 'blah' on the quad
but when I swatched them... my mouth goes "O"

Ain't that pretty? I can see tiny specks of gold/shimmer
Love it!

I can't believe it! I had such long and tiring week and such sweet action done by this wonderful person really made my day! I forgot how tired I am and my wonderful hubby forgot how tired he is and took his camera right away to take photos of these lovely gifts!

My dear friend, you made me and my hubby happy!!!! Thanks!!!

Askmewhats Reviews: Paul & Joe Curly Waterproof Mascara

I have been using the P&J Curly mascara for months now!
I've used both in brown and black.
What can I say about this? read on!

Available at Paul & Joe Rustan's Makati for Php 1,375 (approx USD32.00)

** Here's my before and after shot, both with eyeliner
Top- Before Bottom- After
(I did not curl my lashes)

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • Does its job curling
  • does not clump
  • doesn't smudge (waterproof)

Cons
  • expensive
  • doesn't lenghten
Overall

I haven't found my HG mascara yet but this is one mascara I am comfortable and always reach out to. I have to say with my "type" of lashes, I can only settle down to falsies as my lashes are super short and invisible! I am honestly lazy to put on mascara as I don't like rubbing my eyes with eye makeup remover (due to my eye allergies before). I usually put on mascara on days that I feel like it.

Will I repurchase?
Yes

Want to checkout my other mascara review?
Smile and say
"Fasio!"
"Maybelline!"

Want some tips on having fuller and longer lashes?
Smile and say
"Lashes!"

These are the 3 brands I rotate, I would love to try on other brands!
Any suggestions?
I'm thinking about Cover Girl Lash Blast? Yay or Nay?

Askmewhats Reviews: Carmex Lip Balm

** Available at PCX for approx Php85.00 ($2.00)

I know a lot of readers out there LOVE their Carmex Lip Balm. I bid goodbye to my Kiehl's No. 1 lipbalm for a couple of weeks to give this baby a "proper" review. I've used this every morning, middle of the day and night time.

What do I have to say about this ?

Well, it's so so. I wouldn't go crazy jumping up and down for this product. I road tested this on my hubby as well (for guy's point of view --- yeah! guys do use lip balm as well...well..if they have wives like me LOL)

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • affordable
  • very minty (for this mint version), this minty feeling lasts longer than regular minty balms
  • tastes ok, not yucky
  • soothing (as stated)

Cons
  • the balm is a bit dry
  • It dries my hubby's lips more than him not using a lip balm at all
  • Doesn't "heal" as written in their box
Overall?

It could just be me, that I have super dry lips that needs extra TLC, but this product could be great for those born with lovely lips! For extra dry lips like mine, move on and give other lip balms a try!

Will I repurchase?

Sorry...but NO

I know I know! It's my fault!
I have lip products that works for me
Why do I need to try on others?
Like I said, it's the curiosity in me..
and curiosity does kill your budget!

Want to check out other lip balms I've tested?

Smile and say "Lipbalms!"

Askmewhats Version: "L'oreal Hip Sassy" look

When I did a review on my first L'oreal HIP e/s duo, Nabi , Alyssa, Lizlin commented on wanting to see how the L'oreal HIP e/s duo would look. To the sweet ladies and the rest of the readers who are interested, this one's for you :D

It is honestly difficult as I said in my review as seen here, because the colors that are together aren't that "matched" (in my opinion). I would usually use this separately with something else, something bright as using the 2 shades together is a bit too dark for me. But for the sake of review and to show the color combination of these, I've used both together and added a bit of "gold" to brighten up everything :D Hope you guys like it.

This is what L'oreal Sassy looks like

A close-up shot
L-color is used all over my lids
R-color (bluish) was applied on the outer crease going in
BLEND BLEND BLEND!
R-color (bluish) was also lined below my eyes
I pat on Milani Sun Goddess on my lids just to brighten up the overall look

And here's me saying....

Additional products used ---

Stila Smudgepots in Black
Paul & Joe Curly Mascara in Black
Revlon blush in Rose
The Face Shop Lip gloss

Want your own L'oreal HIP e/s duo?
Can't have 'em like me?
Let's all write a letter to L'oreal!!!
Beauty addicts, UNITE! *lol*
