AMW Reviews: Mary Kay's TimeWise Luminous and Matte Wear Foundations

For the first time, today's liquid foundation product review is relate-able to all skin types!  The oily, the dry, the combination.  Okay, I stand corrected, sensitive skin gals out there should always do a patch test on whatever products they put on their face as different individuals have different skin reactions to certain ingredients.

I recently road tested Mary Kay's TimeWise Matte-Wear and Luminous-Wear Liquid Foundation.  Feel free to read this post and see which one is right for you!

AMW Reports: Sunsilk Hair Experts 1M Project Makeover

Sunsilk's Hair Experts FB page recently achieved 1,000,000 Facebook members, well, at the moment, it's
1,020,618 to be exact, thus making this the world's biggest hair care community!  It's an achievement worth celebrating!
To commemorate such milestone, Sunsilk launched a 24-hour promo and invited fans to submit congratulatory photos and videos.  From there, the team will choose 50 most creative participants and get the opportunity to be a celebrity for a day plus Sunsilk gift packs to take home with.

Aside from that, they invited 4 bloggers to join the photo shoot with the rest of the loyal members (Trust me when I say LOYAL members, I've seen how interactive the community is and how vocal they are in showing the Sunsilk Hair Experts love!) and I was lucky enough to be one of them!

A full day of pampering with great companion?  What's not to like?

Meet the 3 gorgeous bloggers whom I shared the same unforgettable experience with!
Sophie of Beautynomics

The day started with hairstyling at David's Salon...

Of course, together with the 4 of us are the 50 Hair Expert Likers were also there inside the salon for their once-in-a-lifetime pampering experience!  Did you know that I like having my hair pampered?  Feels like massage and I would love to take her home!

After hairstyling, we took a short ride to The Lighthouse House Studio for makeup and photo shoot!  There I met super talented and down-to-earth stylist Rain!

Rain came with a huge suitcase with more than 50 hot pink tops and dresses (I swear, I've never seen this much pink in my entire life!) and a whole lot of accessories!  *drools*

There, I also met the Creative Director of The Lighthouse Studio  Fashion and Conceptual Photographer Niccolo Cosme together with his staff.

While the rest of the Sunsilk Hair Experts lucky girls have their photo shoot, we had our make-up...

As a makeup artist myself, I seriously enjoyed relaxing for once and having someone do my makeup!  After a couple of hours, with the magic hands of the talented makeup artist, we're ready to roll!

I went adventurous with the bold fuschia lip color that matches my top perfectly! (not intended though)

And there's a whole bunch of "first time" giddiness and laughter during the shoot!

Group shot with Niccolo before we left the studio

Fun, wacky shot with Rain!

Here's the professional shot
taken by Niccolo Cosme

Don't we all look so serious and professional in this shot
as compared to the ones above?  :P

I want to thank Sunsilk Hair Experts for the opportunity!  Our friends from Media Contacts for taking care of us for the whole day!  David's salon for the hair, Rain for styling and Niccolo Cosme for the wonderful shots!

That sounds like a speech from Oscars!  But who cares?  This experience definitely goes straight to my memory box and I'll proudly tell my grand kids....

"Your lola (grandma) once look hot in hot pink!" LOL

Yes, I'm practicing to have more confidence even at the age of "I don't remember my name" hahaha

AMW Reviews: L'Oreal White Perfect Pearl Duo Powder Foundation

I am almost done with my Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover and I'm ready to repurchase a refill.  Just when I was going to do so, I received the new L'Oreal White Perfect Pearl Duo Powder Foundation recently for review and I was amazed on its' cute packaging and I like the "Pearl Duo" part!

After weeks of usage, here are my thoughts....

L'Oreal White Perfect Pearl Duo Powder Foundation says ---

L’Oreal Paris White Perfect Pearl Duo Powder Foundation is perfect for those who want to extend the whitening benefits of their skin care routine to their make up products. Enriched with Melanin-Block and Tourmaline Gemstone, this 2-step foundation hides spots, evens out skin tone, finishes off with a rosy glow. With added SPF19/PA+++, White Perfect Pearl foundation also protects your skin from external damage from UVA/UVB rays. Available in 5 shades.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Packaging is simple yet very cute to look at.
  • Mirror is big enough to do your make up.
  • Has a pearlescent powder side which gives a nice subtle "glow".  You can specifically use it to "highlight" some parts/areas of your face.
  • Powder is easy to apply on skin with both the sponge and brush and it's smooth.
  • The sponge that comes with this compact is made with quality.
  • Refillable!  I like it that this help saves the environment.  I feel bad throwing out powder foundation compacts at times.  Manufacturing date also printed for reference.
  • Comes in 5 shades so you get to choose the right shade for you.
  • Gives light to medium coverage.
  • Has added benefits aside from just being a powder foundation.
  • The powder has 2 different tones, it is ok not to use the lighter tone and use it only to highlight the face.
  • Multi-purpose!  Can also be used to highlight to arch of the brows.
  • Mixing both will give you a nice radiant glow without the chunks or glitters.
  •
Cons
  • Concealing is needed if you have spots or acne marks.
  • Applying too much may dry skin even more (this pertains to users who have very dry skin)
  • -For oily skinned individuals, retouching is very much needed.
Overall
For someone who likes "brightening", this is a  very unique and nice powder foundation to use once in awhile especially if I need highlighting!  I can't say the coverage is to die for as it can only minimize redness and darkness but won't conceal them completely.

Tips
  • Oily skinned individuals can use oil blotters in the middle of the day prior to retouching.
  • Dry skinned individuals need to moisturize your skin well prior to powder foundation application.
  • Conceal areas that needed coverage before you apply this powder foundation with a "patting" motion.
  • If you plan to repurchase, please purchase the refill to help save environment!
  • Though this promises to lighten up the skin and block melanin, I still strongly suggest everyone to use Sunblock prior to powder foundation application.
Will I repurchase?
Yes!  For personal use just for the fact that I'm a highlighter addict!  (also addicted to STABILOS lol!)

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who likes the "extra" glow in just one product.  I think this product will go well with individuals who have normal/combination skin.

Where to purchase and how much?
At L'Oreal counters for Php995.00 (approx $23.00)  Refills available for Php795.00 (approx $18.50)

L'Oreal White Perfect Pearl Duo Powder Foundation
in  Golden Ivory

The top portion is the highlighter which has a hint of pink shade which gives "glow"
The Golden Ivory foundation has indeed golden undertone
This matched my skin perfectly with a brush!

This is how I use the "highlight" part with my fingers]
Applied on different areas of my face that needs highlighting
  • Cheekbones
  • Under the eye area
  • Nose bridge
  • Above the center of upper lips
(sorry no lipstick or anything but the powder foundation on the lower right side of the photo,
I look like a dead fish!  LOL  Love me still?   Pretty Please?)

Have you tried the L'Oreal White Perfect Pearl Duo Powder Foundation?

AMW Makeover: 3 Different Prenup Pictorial looks

I enjoy doing makeup for couples!  This segment of AMW makeover is no exception!

Prior to the wedding day is the prenup shoot that a lot of couples have been waiting for!  These days, prenup shoots are getting more and more creative!

Carmela, beautiful girl even without makeup has this "inner glow" and it wasn't difficult for me to do her makeup for her first look....

Though Carmela has normal skin to start with, I did not stop myself from prepping her skin with a primer because her first shoot is done in the pool area of EDSA Shangri-la Hotel.

Seriously, this gorgeous girl has nothing much to hide so I just applied a thin layer of cream foundation and set with MAC's Mineralized Skin Finish powder.  She just had her hair dyed a week ago so I dyed her eyebrows with an eyebrow gel of course, prior to that, I drew her brows a bit thicker than her natural brows for her eyes to pop on photos.
The gorgeous bride-to-be has very sensitive eyes and tears welled up a bit when I applied her falsies but she got used to it and it defined her eyes even more!

I finished the look with pink blush and pink lipstick for that very sweet, innocent look!

I also did the groom's makeup, but I wasn't able to take a before and after shot of him.  Here's a stolen shot of them during a shoot on the hotel pool area.

Next set, we head off to Chateau 1771, there it started to rain so they were quite lucky to have done all the outdoor shots in the morning.  I added a bit more contouring for the groom-to-be while Kim styled his hair!

Carmela changed into this gorgeous navy blue outfit that Kim and I were both inspired to create a "Glamorous Look".  Nice wild curls for her while I darkened her eye makeup and added a bit of darker liner creating a thicker line.  I changed her blush color to a bright peachy shade and used a bright orange tone lipstick to create a nice contrast against her outfit.  Color blocking was my inspiration!
They seem to have realized we were trying to get shots of them so they finally smiled and waved at the "unofficial" camera! :)

For the third look, Carmela changed into a really sexy dress with eye-catching pieces of jewelries as styled by Sydney Yap.  Kim fixed the curls and clipped one side of her hair as I went on and created a smokey eye makeup and fixed her falsies to make sure its perfectly in place.

I went back and applied a shimmery pink blush and contoured her face making her beautiful features pop even more!  Last but not the least, to create a nice impact against the earth-toned colored dress, I applied a bright red lipstick from MAC's Red She Said.

For someone who's not comfortable wearing heavy makeup, I am glad Carmela is quite adventurous and told me to do whatever I want just for the shots to come out nice!

Well, I want to tell her that she looks good in all types of makeup!

Congratulations to the lovely couple!
Can't wait to see both of you tie the knot!

What's your favorite look out of the three?
My bet would be the last one, I've never seen here in this type of makeup! :)
