AMW Reviews: MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner with SPF15

Good morning everyone!  I hope you started the day with a huge smile because...it's Thursday!!!  Technically, I do not have weekends because of my "side jobs" but that doesn't stop me from feeling the "weekend vibe"!

I bought Close for Comfort Tinted Lip Conditioner from a friend.  This was part of the MAC Warm & Cozy Collection.  I am not reviewing the product base on the shade as this is not available anymore but I'm reviewing MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in general.

A couple of years ago, I was lemming for the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner under the Hello Kitty collection but after testing it out on my super dry lips, I gave it a skip and never looked back!  Little have I known that the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner is something I would use on makeup gigs especially for male clients!

MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner with SPF15 says ---
A protective emollient balm formulated with SPF15, a sheer wash of color and an all-natural sheen.  Conditions lips, locks in moisture.  Contains Almond oil, Shea butter, Avocado Extra, Wheat germ oil, Vitamins A and E.

Size: 15ml, 0.5 fl. oz.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Glass packaging maintains the freshness of the product.
  • A pro or con:  Since this comes in this packaging, easier for makeup artist to work with a lip brush.  A con for personal use as a separate lip brush is needed during application.
  • Has a sheer color which makes it look natural on any skin tone.
  • Moisturizing.
  • Non-sticky.
  • Has SPF15.
Cons
  • Most Tinted Lip Conditioner from MAC are limited edition.  I find it quite difficult to repurchase a shade I want.
  • Super dry lips may still find this not moisturizing enough.
Overall
A really nice, tinted moisturizer that stays.

Tips
  • If you plan to use this on your own, feel free to apply with your clean fingers as I find it the best way to apply these tinted lip conditioners.
  • Always close the cap tight to prevent product from drying.
  • Always try on testers as these MAC Tinted Lip Conditioners usually look crazy on pot but sheer and pretty on lips.
  • For super dry lips, prep your lips with your choice of lip balm prior and use the tinted lip conditioner for the rest of the day.
Will I repurchase?
Yes!  Too bad this particular shade is Limited Edition but I'm sure I will be able to find a close dupe to this!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who likes sheer colored lip product minus the heavy, sticky feel.

Where to purchase and how much?
MAC Tinted Lip Conditioners are available locally for Php950.00 (approx $21.50), this particular shade is not available but I called in MAC Philippines and there are 2 shades called Petting Pink and Fuchsia Fix.  SA can't tell yet if these 2 will be LE (Limited Edition) or not.

The shade Close for Comfort
is a rich peachy-pink beige on pot
Once applied on lips, it goes sheer making it look like your own lips in its BEST form  This photo was taken during a shoot that I've done on a gorgeous male model Clynt.

Do you currently own a MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner?
Which shade do you own and do you like it?
This is my first and I am quite happy with it!  I will definitely be on the lookout for a nice, natural shade for my male clients!

AMW Reports: Shu Uemura's YUME Advanced Makeup Class

Good morning AMW Readers!

Yesterday, I briefly talked about the YUME: Advanced Makeup Workshop that I attended last weekend as offered by Shu Uemura to Deal Grocer clients at 50% off which I bloggged HERE.

If not because of time contraints, I'd go book myself to all sorts of makeup classes!  I love learning and life is too short to focus on the little knowledge we know!  It is, indeed,  time to step out of the bubble and explore! :)

That's what I did!

As I arrived the Shu Uemura Atelier, I was ushered to my seat area and I was in temporary "Shu Uemura heaven".  Various skincare, makeup base, eye shadows, blushers, brush set and the best part?  We can go around and borrow from our classmates too!  This was the best time for me to test on Shu Uemura products I haven't tested yet.

Though tired from the  morning's makeup gig, thankfully, the "organized me" took charge and I actually brought with me my very own brush set, the Charm Essentials Vegan Brush Set and some of my personal makeup products.

It was a no-brainer for me to take with me my 2 Beauty Pro Palettes --- Sweet and Smokey Palette and Crazy Colour Palette.  These 2 palettes are enough for me to create various looks and let me share to you the best part about these shadows --- they can be applied both wet and dry!

Now on to the class, our instructor for the day was Ms. Sharon, one of the Shu Uemura's Accredited Make-Up Artist

We started off with Skincare routine and we were all asked to cleanse our face by removing our existing makeup, tone then moisturize.

Rowena was also there in class and look at her without makeup!
She's still very pretty!

Okay, seriously, the photo below is no laughing matter okay?  You'll hurt my feelings if you laugh!  Okay, I admit it, I literally have no eyes without my trustee eyeliner!  Heck..let's move on....move on....yes..move on!!! :P

Since it is an advanced makeup class, we breezed through makeup theories and face structuralization and headed straight to creating different looks!

First look --- Healthy Glowing Makeup
  • Foundation application
  • Highlight best features and contour areas that you want to be hidden.
  • Use any neutral eye shadow shades and you may add glittery eye shadow on top.
  • Lips are recommended to be in neutral hues with lots of shine.

After a quick demonstration, we were asked to do our own faces and it wasn't hard for me to create healthy glowing makeup because I am a fan of highlighters remember? :P  Instead of the usual neutral eye shadow colors, I went bold and used a green eye shadow instead as it works so well on my skin color.

Second look --- Day-to-Night Makeup
  •  Experiment with different shades.
  • Adding additional shades (light and dark version of a color you chose).
  • Eye-lining
  • Use of stronger lip color.

Third look --- Smoky Eyes
  • Smoky eyes are not limited to black.
  • Blending is very important for this look.
  • If you want to focus on the eye makeup, use a sheer colored blush and neutral colored lip products.

We were given the chance to try on Shu Uemura's famous lashes and Dionne and I played with some of them!  I only applied one eye hence my pose *lol*

 Fourth Look --- Runway Look
  • Create a color palette you would want to focus on.
  • If you prefer to do multiple colors, it helps to refer to the color wheel.
  • Be adventurous and have fun!
Looking back, I missed my makeup school days when I would go creating wild looks!  Though my eyes are tearing up and tired from the day's activities, I was able to create a very strong eye makeup that reminded me so much of the sea.  (not shokoy okay? lol)

I've done a lot of contouring (hence my slim nose) and used a lot of glow-ons and even applied some shimmer-y powder on my lips to create that "Ice Queen" effect as I believe it could get too cold under the sea! Thanks to Sharon for lending me the gorgeous red and purple lashes which I individually applied.

Overall, the class was a huge success!  There were 5 of us students and all of us were able to practice each looks and Ms. Sharon would give us feedback which I appreciate!  Sometimes, you tend to get used to doing your makeup and a second opinion will always be welcomed!

Is the class worth it?  Definitely!  I'll definitely enroll for more short courses as it's always nice to learn new techniques!

Before I end this post, I want to share a statement....

"Beautiful Make-Up Starts with Beautiful Skin"

So true, so please take care of your skin as early as NOW!  It's never too late and your skin will thank you for it!

Thanks to the Shu Uemura team at Rockwell branch for the accommodation, thanks Nina for including me in this class!

Have you enrolled yourself in a class recently? (any class)

AMW Wears: March in Style - Slither Flats

Dear friend Trixie, messaged me and told me about her new line of shoes!   I remembered our "intense" conversation regarding comfortable shoes last year!  Trixie and I shared the same sentiments of wanting gorgeous looking shoes but the type that won't leave us in excruciating pain!

March Shoes was born early this year!  Why March?  Aside from March being the month of the owner's birthday, she wants the consumers to MARCH IN STYLE!

Before Valentine's day, I saw an online promotion on March's FB Page , introductory price of Php650.00 (approx $14.50)  from the original Php700.00 (approx 16.00) Slither shoes.  I sent Trixie a message right away and reserved a blushing pink shade!

And I got to meet the Slither Flats during the Best Food Forward event!

The blushing pink shade goes so well with any outfit and it gives a blushing look on my feet!  I find myself wearing these during makeup gigs and I don't need to change into "driving" shoes as they are comfortable for driving as well!

I bought mine in size 7 and it originally felt a bit too loose for me and even bought a pair of cork for these shoes!  At the end of the day, I've realized that wearing a size larger is not bad as my feet tends to expand from all the walking!  *gasps* :P  So size 7, Trixie, turned out to be the perfect size!

I've worn this several times and it's absolutely comfortable!

**thanks Row for helping me take this shot

Photo taken during my Shu Uemura's YUME Advanced Makeup Class.  My top and pants are quite colorful so I muted it down with a very simple Blushing Pink Slither Flats.

Because I love my shoes, I store them on my Avon Style Essentials Translucent Shoe Box, 2 pcs of these cost Php329.00 (approx $7.50).  Worth it if you ask me as it can also store my ankle-length boots!

Size: 30 x 18 x 10cm

Have you bought any shoes within the month?
What's your favorite pair at the moment?
