AMW Reviews: Charm PRO Makeup Artist Toolbelt

I have been using the most inexpensive toolbelt for quite some time!  It has helped me breezed through various gigs and don't get me wrong, I am very happy with it!

BUT,

I've encountered some shoots that demand "more touch ups" and there were times that I don't have enough space on my tiny toolbelt for bronzing powders, setting powders or bulky body glitters and lipsticks!  I tried to steer clear from the regular makeup toolbelts sold in the market as they are mostly meant for holding brushes! (and I don't need just that!)

When Sophie and I met up for The Hunger Games premier night c/o Nuffnang Philippines, she brought 2 Charm PRO Makeup Artist Toolbelts.  One in black and one for pink.  Everyone would think I'd go for pink but I honestly thought of going for black as it looks more professional!  *teehee*  I guess the "unprofessional-look during professional work" is what I'm aiming for! :)  But seriously, the hot pink got me!

Charm says ---
  • Made with handpicked fabric, design that is elegant and professional at the same time.
  • Made with a premium fabric that is light.
  • Made with textured fabric that is really, really easy to clean. Its textured fabric quality makes it easy to clean, as easy as just using wipes! You will never have stain woes on your makeup toolbelt again!
  • 20 slots for makeup brushes ( that one slot that can fit 2-3 small makeup brushes or one big makeup brush for each slot ) and lots of extra slots and pockets that you will love utilizing - for your tweezers, scissors, and other beauty tools!
  • Comes with a flap for that extra hygiene and will not cause your brushes to get scattered in your bag when traveling.
  • A zipper at the back of the toolbelt that you can even put in your palettes and some makeup there!
Dimensions :
Width : 13.5 inches
Height : 12 inches
Belt is adjustable and can fit everyone.

Colors : Pink and black

AMW says ---
Pros
  • I've seen both black and pink and they are both good-looking!
  • The fabric used is indeed very easy to clean.
  • The brush pockets are wide in space so I can easily put back the brushes with not much effort.
  • I can store a lot of tools (tweezers, eyelash glue, scissors etc..), I can also store a whole makeup palette at the zippered portion.
  • I love the space where you can put your business cards!
  • The zippered space at the back side is a nice BONUS!  I can put more makeup or even hair clips here! (I even put my mobile phone here! hehehe)
  • The flap is fold-able, you can fold it to protect your brushes and unfold it when you're at work!
  • The belt is adjustable and very comfortable to use.
  • The color is unique and eye-catchy!
Cons
  • I can't seem to find one for now.
Overall
I have used this on one very important shoot for a client, the touch up area and makeup area is quite far so I'm glad I have the Charm PRO Makeup Artist Toolbelt which saves me from going back and forth to 2 different rooms!

Tips
  • I still prefer to put used makeup brushes on one side so I will know which brushes I need to clean at the end of the day.
  • Wipe stains immediately with brush cleaner wipes.
  • It would be cute to put your own "buttons" or clips to personalize your toolbelt!
Will I repurchase?
Not for now.  This one seems like it's going to last me for long! :)

To whom do I recommend this to?
Professional Makeup artists.

Where to purchase and how much?

AMW Reviews: ZUCA Case

I've had tons of request to show my makeup train case for quite some time!  I haven't really gotten the chance to show it as I've always been on a lookout for "THE TRAIN CASE" that I will hold on to...forever!

Just like Marriage!  *laughs*

After loads of research and with the help of wonderful angels, I am happy to announce, I am one proud "momma" to my ZUCA SportPro!

I believe MAC made one specially for the brand but it looks exactly the same on the outside (Change Zuca to MAC) and the inserts are a bit different!

My past huge train case was finally sold to a lovely AMW reader (hi Nancy) and don't get me wrong, I love my first ever huge train case so much but as my makeup increases, they tend to topple inside so I've decided to adopt a new baby!

I bid over Ebay and crossed my fingers that I'll win it!  With God's help, I actually did and the ZUCA was sent to my Godmother's place in the US and she shipped it here!  Thanks Auntie! :)

After a couple of uses, I am ready to give my thoughts on this case.  Most of the professional makeup artists who uses this have said that this is the best investment ever and 99% of them do not regret spending almost $300.00 for this case!  I got mine around $230.00 (approx less than Php10,000) and it retails for $285.00 (approx Php12,255), not bad huh?

Zuca SportPro says ---

Eureka Moment: Keeping it Together (KIT)

Good Morning Monday!
This will be a straightforward Eureka Moment post!  Before I left for Japan, I was sent a KIT by Mich (thanks Mich!) and I love it already just because of its brand name "KIT" (sounds like Keith) hahaha  *cheesy*

So, it is a perfect timing because I took this out for a road test, not just any road but Tokyo Roads!  (from cheesy turns corny!)

KIT- organizers and containers that help you keep things together for a more organized and easier life!!!

Together let's check the content :)
I will also include what I used it for during my Japan Trip

  • Soap case - Dove soap
  • Spray bottle (Php59.00) - I put alcohol here
  • Silver colored atomizer (Php149.00) - I transferred some of of the Parian Brush Cleaner here so I can still clean my makeup brushes when I travel.  This is actually best for Fragrances but I brought with me tiny perfume bottles during travel.
  • Oil Bottle - I put my Neutrogena Body Oil
  • Gel Pumps in 2 sizes (around Php49.00) - I left it as I have a sample size of Kiehl's Body Lotion.
  • Clear square case - where I put my Papaw treatment.
  • Not so clear tub - I put my hair pins, rubber bands and small earrings here
  • Powder Case (Php49.00) - I put some of the loose setting powder from Shu Uemura here for touch ups
  • Acrylic Jar (lower right of photo) (Php40.00) - I put my anti-histamine tablets here!  This can also be used to store eye cream but I have a sample sized eye cream from Clinique.
  • Funnel (Php49.00 comes with spatula and dropper) - super cute way of transferring products!
Oh something on the photo (above) is missing, Mr. AMW grabbed it right away and announced to be his...well I'm just a good wife who agreed! *hahaha*  Yeah yeah, conjugal property, I know!

Mini Pouch
Php195.00 (approx $4.50)

NERD Keith Holding KIT :P
He likes to store his gazillion sets of batteries here!
Girls can't have enough makeup, boys can't have enough batteries!  *laughs*

Overall, it was a perfect kit for me!
Thanks Mich for this and feel free to add them up on Facebook to know more about the other products they offer!  They have a whole lot I'm in Heaven!
You can purchase KIT at Theater Mall Greenhills (Across Mix Gems, before food court)

Do you transfer big packaged product to a smaller one like me when you travel?

Japan Food Tripping: Part 1

Happy Sunday!  How's the weekend treating you?  Me, I had a nice massage at The Spa care of our friends from Cream Silk!  They launched the new Cream Silk Perfection Hair Care system and I'll share more about it soon!

Today, is the day were I will unveil my Japan "Munching" experiences!  I originally thought of creating one huge post on all the food that I've seen, heard, touched, smelled and tasted but I got overwhelmed myself so I'm separating the Japan Food Tripping Post into..several parts!  *laughs*  I hope you understand! If you don't, well, I guess, you've got no choice?  *evil laugh*

"Japan is so expensive!"
"Instant noodles in Japan is also expensive!"

Those are some of the sentences that made me and Mr. AMW pause our dream to travel to Japan for years!  Whenever we spoke to friends or relatives who have been to Japan, I always hear them complain on how expensive it is to travel to Japan.

I won't lie --- it is expensive to travel!  Not only in Japan but to any parts of the world!  In every travel, I guess all we need to do is stick to the budget and keep that watchful eye!  You will definitely find something worthwhile!

Back to food, we were quite lucky to have breakfast included in our hotel stay plus the free Ramen every night!  I focused on the top 3 things I would like to try in Japan (aside from Takoyaki) --- Sushi, Noodles and Tonkatsu!

I am happy to report --- Mission Accomplished!

Sushi seems pricey in any parts of the world!  Thanks to my colleague who introduced this restaurant!

Itamae Sushi
Yes!  They have English Menu!
We waited a bit for our table to be ready as it was lunch time and most working people are on a rush to have their lunch!  It doesn't hurt that this restaurant have Sushi sets for 20% off!

Sushi freshly made right in front of you!

The set comes with Miso soup and salad
and of course, unlimited serving of Japanese tea!

JPY1,239 less 20% off!
JPY980 (approx Php490.00/USD11.40)

JPY1,449 less 20% off!
JPY1,100 (approx Php550.00/USD12.80)

This is the most fresh sushi I've had in my entire life!  I chowed down one after the other and I don't want to stop!  I am not exaggerating, it was THAT delicious!

**The restaurant is located at Akasaka Mitsuke a few walk after the subway station exit.

-------------------------

On to the noodles!  I'm an expert noodle eater as I prefer to eat noodles than rice!  So... *points at my tongue* You can't trick this baby! :P

At Yodobashi Akiba (Akihabara), it was lunch time so we've decided to go up to the top most floor where their food court is located!  We walked around the whole vicinity looking at food display until we saw this....

A quaint restaurant where you just have a tiny space to eat, everyone's busy eating (not much talking)!  I got a bit intimidated at first but the kind server greeted us with a HUGE smile!  (He knows my weakness! LOL)  So yeah, we got in!   (Insider info: I failed, I was yakking away on how delicious the food was!  *laughs*)

The restaurant do not have English menu but they have "pictured" menu!  Which is good enough for me!  The waiter is super friendly and I even had to take him outside of the restaurant to point at the giant poster of the noodles I want to try! *HAI*!

Though the space is tiny, Japanese are innovative, they even thought of creating a space for your bags or other belongings!

My Soup-less Noodles!
JPY780.00 (approx Php390.00/USD9.00)

Keith's Noodle Soup
JPY990.00 (approx Php495.00/USD11.50)

And they even have "extras" per meal as a promotion!  I picked additional whole egg for mine while Keith opted for larger bowl noodles (an upsize!)!  I don't know how or why but our meals were upgraded!  *yay!*

I can't even finish my bowl of noodles!  Noodles just kept multiplying!  *laughs*  Seriously, I find the price of the meal we had is quite reasonable for the amount of food we get!

**The restaurant is located on the topmost floor of Yodobashi, Akiba.
-------------
Last but not the least, I nearly gave up!  I thought I won't be able to try the famous Pork Cutlet meal that goes "oh so well" with shredded cabbage!

The restaurant is located at the Tokyo Metro Station but it looks like a posh restaurant at Greenbelt!  Good news to travelers, English Menu is available in this restaurant!!!

Fried Squid Legs
JPY280.00 (approx Php140.00/US$3.25)
Comes with lemon and sauce!  I enjoyed munching this as an appetizer and they are indeed very crunchy and tasty!

Shrimp Satsumaage
JPY280.00 (approx Php140.00/US$3.25)
Locally, this is comparable to "kikiam" but this one is less salty and the texture is smoother!  It comes with soy sauce and I enjoy eating this with hot cup of rice!

Pork Tenderloin
JPY1,260.00 (approx Php630.00/US$14.65)

The rice was an extra order, the set comes with miso soup with clams plus a tiny salad, nice serving of pork tenderloin and loads of shredded cabbage that's refillable!

In our country, the cabbage could just be there for decoration to most of us, but the right way to eat this (according to experience! hahaha) is to grab a small piece of Pork Tonkatsu together with shredded cabbage, dip a bit of the thick Worcestershire Sauce  available on each table and take ONE BIG BITE!  The tender juicy warmth taste of the pork mixed with the cool cabbage gives a wonderful "fireworks" inside the mouth!  The cabbage is full of fiber so it will help reduce the absorption of fat, at the same time, Cabbage can counteract the fatty taste that we tend to dislike each time we eat some deep fried dishes!

**The restaurant is found at Tokyo Character Street, Tokyo Metro Train Station.  I do not have the English name of the restaurant so I'm posting the photo of the exterior of the restaurant below!  Hope this help!

Overall, both Mr. AMW and myself had a wonderful time dining at Japanese restaurants/fastfood chains!  It was quite intimidating for both of us at first due to the language barrier, but with simple terms in Japanese for food like Pork, Chicken and Beef is enough to make you survive dining in Japan! :)

Which among the 3 restaurants would you like to try?
