AMW Wears: For a Makeup Workshop

Last weekend, I was invited by our friends from Sophie Martin Paris to do a speaking/training engagement on makeup application for their company.

What to wear on professional event?

Dress: Shannaholic Navy Blue Dress, Belt: SM Accessories, Necklace: CMG
Bag: LV Speedy 30 Shoes: Prima Donna Nude Open Toed Pumps

Since my dress can make me look like a 40-year old woman if not accessorized properly, I've decided to use a huge black necklace that matches the color of my belt for a more playful vibe.

Nude pumps has always been a friend of mine!  I've decided to use one of the most comfortable open-toed pumps which I bought from Prima Donna.  The reason for choosing this pair of shoes is because for the fact that I can stand on these shoes for hours minus the aches and pains!

Polish shade: Revlon Nail Enamel in Fearless.

As for hair and makeup, I've decided to keep it simple as the makeup training focuses on daytime and work-appropriate makeup. I should set a good example! *winks*

Sunshorts: Oh my Goth!

Friday the 13th, a day of bad luck!
A black cat passed by you, oh no!  You're in bad luck!
Seven-year itch, relationships will fail.

We Filipinos have so many beliefs and superstitions no one can tell which holds true or false!  Personally speaking, I believe in creating your own luck!  If you wake up in the morning expecting bad luck to come your way, chances are, you may indeed have a bad day!  As for me, I always wake up thanking God and looking each day as a day full of possibilities!  Armed with a positive attitude may not guarantee a positive day but at least, with a positive outlook, it is easier for me to create a back up plan on how to deal with life's daily challenges.

Watch one of the 5 short film Sun Shorts: Oh My Goth!  It stars my favorite "Halloween" Lola!
(Five digital short films by five renowned film directors were done to interpret Sun Life's Brand Promise of "Life's brighter under the Sun".)

Since we're on the topic of backup plan, I can still recall my mom's failed operation almost 3 years ago and she has nothing to secure her hospitalization bills or operation costs.  That's when I realized the importance of having my own insurance plan.  Spending a big chunk of my salary/earning for a life insurance has never crossed my mind.  Until one day, when I realized I'm not getting any younger and I do get sick every now and then, I contacted my Aunt who's a Sun Life sales agent and seek advised from her for a good insurance plan that matched my lifestyle. After purchasing my own plan at Sun Life early this year, I have this strange sense of security that money can't buy!  I can't believe it took me this long to secure my future.

Before I end this post, Sun Life is having a flyaway promo to San Francisco, USA!  Smile and click HERE to know the mechanics!

How to Lighten Your Brows

I have colored hair for as long as I can remember and mind you, all these years, I have thick, dark brows so they never match with my hair color!

Thank goodness for existence of lighter brow pencils!  I bought several especially during my Seoul, Korea trip and it helped lighten the look of my brows!

Just when I thought lighter shade of eyebrow pencil is the answer to my brow problem, I was introduced to the world of brow gels!  My favorite was the one I bought in Singapore called SANA Styling W Brow,  I was able to tint my brows with not much effort!  A couple of weeks ago, I posted this photo on Instagram after an event and I received emails and comments asking me for a tutorial on how I do my brows.

Well, you're in luck!  It's "This is How I Do It: My Brows --- AMW Style"!  I find this the best and easiest technique to create fuller, lighter-looking brows that lasts the whole day!

Something New: Philips Citiscape Shibuya Headphones

Dear music-loving AMW Readers:
If you're into headphones, Philips came up with the new CitiScape Shibuya, on-ear headphones that are lightweight, breathable, and inspired by Japanese pop culture!

I'm not really big on huge headphones but this particular brand -- Philips caught my attention as never fail in supplying me and my family good sound systems.

Ah, no wonder I see girls wearing huge headphones in Japan!  Surprisingly, the headphones may look bulky to me but I find them chic and stylish on those hip boys and girls!

**Citiscape Shibuya SHL5205WT/98 for Php3,299.00 (approx $76.72) available in all leading electronic stores.

Would you sport huge headphones?
Have you seen your friends wearing them?

AMW Reviews: Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek in Raspberry Macaron

"A girl can never get tired of blushes!"  I have to agree, as I find myself picking up various blushes from different brands on a daily basis and I try not to repeat my blush on 2 consecutive days!

Blush application is the quickest way to make a person look pretty without the fuzz!

When I first laid my eyes on the Majolica Majorca's Puff De Cheek, I immediately fell in love with it as they reminded me so much of the colorful macarons we love to eat!

My first Puff de Cheek shade is Raspberry Macaron which is limited edition from the Summer 2012 Collection called Psychedelicious.

Majolica Majorca says ---
A classical blush in metal can with original soft puff, a limited edition product from Shiseido.

Available in: PK415 (Raspberry Macaron) and RD414 (Cherry Macaron) under the Psychedelicious collection.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • With printed Manufacturing date at the back.
  •  Housed in a metal can with cute puff!
  • Applies smoothly and the glitters aren't obvious.
  • Color payoff is good.
  • Build-able shade.
  • The blush can last you from months to a year!  Worth every single cent.
Cons
  • None (Update: Got a message that this particular Puff De Cheek shade is not a limited edition.)
Overall
The cute packaging makes it easy to carry around for touch-ups.  The added puff may not be the best way in blush application but I appreciate the fact that I don't need to pull out my blush brush on public for retouch.

The powder is silky and comes off very natural on cheeks.

Tips
  • Puff is best used for retouch, I prefer using a blush brush in application.
  • Start by applying on the apples of your cheeks.
  • To make your blush stay longer, apply a similar shade of cream blush underneath and set with Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek blush.
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who likes natural looking blush.

Where to purchase and how much?

At local Majolica Majorca counters for Php795.00 (approx $18.50).

Raspberry Macaron
A medium pink shade with hint of sparkles
(Only seen on photos and in packaging
but appears very natural on cheeks)

Applied lightly on the apples of my cheeks using the puff

You can build up the color by applying more!

Have you tried Majolica Majorca's Puff de Cheek?
Which shade do you own and do you like it?
