Avon Gives: Simply Because --- Contest Closed!

Happy Saturday!  How will you spend your weekend?  Me, I'll probably slave myself washing my brushes and cleaning my train case as I prepare myself for a make up gig!  I also booked myself a haircut appointment because I needed it!  Though my hair is layered, the longest part of my hair is getting quite long and dry, so it's time for some change!  Not a huge change but I'm hoping for a nice change!  Wish me luck!

Today, I will be hosting another contest for our local readers (sorry international readers).  What's the prize?  Do you remember my AMW Bulletin: Gift of Fragrance for Hearts Day?  Well, here's a reminder....

Five of my lucky readers will get the chance to win His and Hers fragrance called Simply Because.  This pair of fragrances inspires the romantic in each one of us to make everyday extraordinary!  Valentine's Day may be over but I believe everyday can be Valentine's Day with your loved ones!

How to join?
1. Simple comment in this post together with your name and email address.
2. Write down a short story of an unexpected but romantic moment that happened between you and your loved one which made a huge impact!  (ex. A wedding proposal, a surprise dinner, or a simple gift your brother gave you when you graduated, etc...)
** Because I wanted a lot of you to be given the chance to join, you can tell a story between you and your brother, father, uncle, grandfather or whoever!  It doesn't have to be a romantic love story as love can be shared to anybody!  Well, as long as it's his and her!
3. Our friends from Ogilvy will be the one picking the 5 winners!
4. Local readers can join whether you have a blog or do not have a blog!
5. Contest starts today and ends on February 28, 2011 (11:59pm).
6. No multiple entries please!
7. 5 Winners will be announced in this blog.

It'll be fair if I share my simple romantic moments.  Mr. AMW and I go to work everyday and we're always together most of the time!  On days that he will be going somewhere or on days that he knew I won't be around him, he will leave random sweet notes, he usually puts it in front of my computer as he knew I always check my mails!  *laughs*

There are way more post-its not shown on photo, I think he used up several pads of sticky notes!  *lol*
Note from AMW: Some of the weird drawings are probably meaningless to you guys but those were the times I was addicted to the PSP game "Patapon" *laughs*

So now, it's YOUR time to tell me those sweet stories!
Doesn't have to be huge, simple gestures matter, it's the thought that counts!

Good luck everyone!  I can't wait to read your stories!
Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

  6. Hi Nikki!

    Here's my short story.....

My fiance and I have been together for almost 10 years now and we're planning to finally tie the knot next year, dragon year. We've been through so much together, through happy times and bad. In our 10 years together, i can say i know him quite well, his quirks, his particular facial expressions.....but there is one moment that he really surprised me with. One day at church, i saw a lady with her bag hanging on the pew. I kept craning my neck trying to see what the lady used in hanging her bag. I saw that it was a bag holder that at that time was not widely available in the malls or tiangges. My fiance noticed that i wasnt concentrating on the mass and asked me what was bothering me. I told him about the lady with the bag and i remarked that the tool she used for her bag is extremely useful and that i wanted to get one of my own. Since i didnt see it around malls during that time, i promptly forgot all about it until one night at dinner, my fiance presented me with a bag holder in my favorite color blue! I was deeply touched that he remembered that i wanted to get one of those things when i myself forgot all about it in the passage of time. Such little acts of love and thoughtfulness beat a grandois act anytime for me.

  7. I'll never forget the day when hubby and I became officially on.

When we were still in the courting stage, hubby and I would date almost everyday, he pick me up in the office every 5pm and before we head home, he always ask what are his chances in the form of percentage, and I would tell him 50% or 70% because I want him to exert more effort.

On the day I realized I am ready to accept his love and become his girlfriend, I printed something in the computer while waiting for him to fetch me. After we had dinner, I handed the paper which says "Congratulations for reaching a 100% score" he looked me and smiled, he couldn't hug me because we were in our dining room, my parents and siblings might caught us...lol.I kept that meaningful paper. It's still alive...lol.

On our first monthsary, hubby who was then my BF, gave me a bottle of perfume (360 degree Perris Ellis).

    "not a typical valentine"
some people are used to preparing and organizing during this event. while me and my fiance has only p100 left in the wallet since the day after valentine would be payroll day. so i was thinking that this man, wouldn't do anything romantic since he has no money at this time and not his character to make surprises. but... at the office, while im having my nap at lunchbreak , my officemate we're kinda screaming and teasing becasue he has brought me chocolates and balloon. and then he left. and when i wake up and shocked. and kilig sobrah! i just cant believe that he did that knowing the limitations we have. the effort that he made brought so much love and sparks in my eye... i cant forget this ist valentine. i dont know if this qualifies but just want to share my story.

  9. Nice stories...

    just want to share mine...
me and my bf did not experience any authentic romantic dates, but I assure that every time we go out for a date it will happy and unforgettable,,,,

Me and my bf have different status in life, he has a simple life and I'm just a spoiled brat,,,
Every time he visits me at my house I always ask for "pasalubong", he brought me some cake, pizza, chocolates, flowers and stuff toys...and the money that he's spending is from his work, his only 19 yrs old but he applied for construction worker, I know that its hard for him to do that work, but he told me that he will do everything so I'll be happy,

on the valentines day my bf gave me a big stuff toy, and I was surprise because I'm not expecting anything cause I know that he do not have money, I ask him where did he get the money and he told me "inutang niya sa mama nia", just the exact amount of the stuff toy, then he told me "he walk from the mall to our house because he don't have any cents on his pocket"...and you know what I dont have gift for him,,,so I apologize to him....

    and he told me this:
ok lang lang kahit wala kang regalo sakin, wala na akong hihilingin pa kundi ikaw...
sa buong buhay ko ikaw ang regalo na bigay sakin ng diyos...

the lines are so unforgettable, when I heard it from him my eyes became teary, I just realize that he love me on who I am, he proved to me that he did not want my families wealth(money) and he will do everything for me...

    Even to walk 8 miles...

    I want to be simple...

Simple is the new word for beautiful...

(I just remember that I gave him a bottle of windscape edt for men for our monthsary and he like it so much) thank you avon for making fantastic/awesome perfumes that all filipinos love!

  10. Nakakakilig naman mga stories niyo teehihihi

Share ko rin lang yung amin ni bf.

It was last year's V-day, it was a Saturday, and ilang months pa lang kami noon, kasabay pa na may whole day activity yung organization na kasali ako so I wasn't really expecting anything, not even meeting him that day.

The activity lasted up to 6PM and the venue was in UST. He wasn't texting me so sobrang irritated ako kasi hindi na nga kami magkikita, hindi pa siya nagpaparamdam.

On my way home, he asked me na sa U.N. Ave. na lang ako sumakay ng bus. I did so kasi I thought it would be safer din, and pagbaba ko ng jeep I saw him there waiting, syempre shocked ako. He invited me to go to Rizal Park, we entered the Japanese Garden there. He knew that I've wondered about going to the Orchidarium pero hindi daw pwede sabi nung guard, for weddings ata yun.

And when we're in the garden I kept on asking him what's going on kasi I thought there's something special na, but I was kinda disappointed that we just sat behind a monument, and he said some cheesy stuff. Suddenly, I heard someone singing all my favorite songs that I told my bf of, with matching guitar pa. Then, bf gave me a card and a necklace. I was so tensed that time kasi I knew na he wasn't that sweet and that gesture was super effort na for him.

It turned out na he bribed his highschool friendsto study the songs and sing them in the background. After that, medyo nagkwentuhan at nagkulitan muna kami while eating, so I got to know his friends which I know is very important to him.

Even though, super simple and parang wala lang yung nangyari last year, never kong makakalimutan yun and it was really, really sweet for me. :)

  11. Its a crime that hubby can't give me flowers during Valentine's and my birthdays. It was my birthday then and of course I received my flowers, to find out it was my mother who brought the flowers. But accordingly hubby is so busy and got several appointments that day and since it is mom's market day and the flowershop is near where she is going, hubby requested her if she can buy the flowers instead. No matter what, hubby will cross all boundaries to fulfill his duties :)

Husband and I had a pre-valentine date twice. First was after the I Love My Family event we attended at the Podium mall last Feb.6 , second was the valentine concert (What Love Is?)of Martin Nievera and Sarah Geronimo, so I was not expecting anything anymore from him on Valentine's day itself, but to my surprise when he got home from work he gave me a present together with a cute little note "Your love makes my life wonderful" written on a yellow post-it. When he handed me his gift he said sorry, sorry because he wasn't able to give me flowers "kase nalalanta ang binebenta sa mga stalls." I told him "what you have given me is more than enough to make my day the happiest day"

  13. Few weeks ago I went home super pissed because I accidentally cut off my bangs too short. Worst part is that it was a day before my much awaited trip with hubby to Singapore.

Having stupid-looking bangs was a big deal for me because 1. I love taking tons of pictures during trips, 2. It was the only vacation trip planned for the year, and 3. I could already imagine the hair disaster ruining every single shot we were about to take.

Hubby, seeing my frustration, grabs a pair of scissors, runs to the bathroom mirror and cuts out his own bangs shorter than mine! I ran to stop him (though I was a few snips too late) and asked what on earth he was doing. He said, "so when we get home and show our pictures, they'll see how silly I look, not you" :)

we met 8years ago, pareho pa kaming highschool nun.. nag-met kami dahil sa basketball (varisty player sya nuon) at sinung magsasabi na after those years magkikita kami ulit dahil sa intercompany basketball league..

  16. A simple kilig surprise story:

Just when I thought we wouldn’t be able to celebrate this year’s heart’s day because my Mr. G was assigned out of town for work, I was definitely wrong. On the evening of Feb 13, he came home!!!! I was in front of my pc when my papa suddenly shouted “my daughter would definitely be happy this Valentine’s day, his “langga” is here (spoken in Bisaya..hehe)! And it was a mouth-dropping moment because it was a total surprise. I wasn’t expecting he will be able to come home and I couldn’t help but smile, smile, smile and smile all the time. It felt really good, oh not good, it felt really AWESOME, knowing the effort he has done in order to spend quality time not just with me but with my family. Our hearts day was filled with good food, heartwarming bonding moments and our ever rocking Karaoke time! But putting aside everything else, his presence really melts my heart away and I am just so thankful on the effort he has given despite the long distance that he needs to travel way back to work.

  17. I am the luckiest. If your husband is so loving he serves you with all his heart, you'll understand me and feel the same.

My hubby cooks for me every night, he sometimes does the laundry alone to make my weekend more relaxing, but that is only when I'm at work on a Friday night, he even wakes up earlier than me sometimes to cook rice and heat water in the morning. I am a happy wife, coz I don't feel along in doing household chores. You can seldom meet men who can do household chores so well.

But this is not my sweet story yet.

February 14th was heart's day and payday for me as well. I wasn't expecting to receive my pay with a big amount of deductions for my loan amortization. The company didn't deduct them for 6 months and they deducted a big amount from this month's pay. I was so pissed and in a very bad mood and I wasn't expecting a Valentine celebration since we already went out the weekend before. When I came home, my heart couldn't help but skip when I saw there was a simple candle-lit dinner waiting composed of chicken nuggets and rice. He got me 4 kinds of chocolates too! I was too happy that I cried and me being so touched made him happier. :D I was reminded how much love he has for me. :)

  20. Hi.. I wanted to share this story of me and my father.
13 years ago me and my father got reconciled. He was away to work at KSA and I got pregnant with my son that time, I was so ashamed to see him when he arrived. I know that he was so mad at me.
After I gave birth, I had the guts to face him and apologized on what had happen to me.
I was so scared that me might blew out of anger after he sees me,But I was wrong... He hugged me and told me that I need to take care of my little boy now that I am a Mommy already.
I was forgiven and until now being guided by my parents raising my kids.
I am very blessed to have a father and a mother like them.
This pair of scents would be perfect for them as a post Anniversary gift.
Thanks for such a nice blog giveaway.

  21. This guy I like (he isn't even technically my boyfriend yet) isn't really the "sweet" type. We don't go on dressy dates, and he doesn't give me stuff but we do find joy in our cheap food hunting, strolling in bookstores, and lengthy car rides. Of course, I told him that I was okay with the set-up. I wasn't a "girly girl" to begin with and we have been frenemies for the past 4 years.

One random summer day, we were talking on YM and were on webcam. He had a group project for a summer class and I was making tampo because we weren't going to see each other again because of his busy schedule. He was at Seattle's Best and was making me jealous as he had a cup of my favorite chai tea latte. He said goodbye after a few minutes as he told me that they were already done for the day.

He called my phone after a few minutes and asked me to go outside. He was outside our home with a cup of chai tea latte for me! :) I was really surprised because he lived all the way down South and I was a North girl--add to that the fact that it was already late at night.

That simple night definitely made a huge impact in our lives as starting then, we were able to see ourselves in a new light. We realized that we definitely weren't just friends but something more than that. It was 4 years in the making but was definitely worth it.

  22. This is not a romantic love story but I'd just love to share mine. :) I love kids and so love my niece and nephews very much. I have a nephew named Lincoln who's 5 years old; he migrated to Canada for good 2 years ago. When he came for a visit last year, he already had an English accent and I had a nosebleed speaking to him in English, but I found it REALLY cute! We'd play every afternoon, watch Spongebob together, eat junk food, and do fun stuff. On his last week here, he wrote me a letter, saying "I love you, will you love me?" I was so happy and touched! :) He stayed only for about a month, and had to go back, but I still have his letter with me. When he grows up, I'll show it to him! haha :)

  26. I will never forget my last year 46th birthday when my son surprised me!

December 9 last year, I woke up around 5 in the morning when I saw this unfamiliar thing in my table beside our bed.

As I look at it, my tears fall down..
    a tears of happiness!

"It's a DIGITAL PHOTO FRAME Mom" as someone whisper at me...
    It's my only son, Armand..

    I love sentimental gifts!
My son put my old pics on the frame, when I was 5 yrs.old up to present and even my baby pics, as well as our family moments.
And what made me laugh is my pictures during my beauty pageants days!hehe
I soooo love how it plays or how the pics slideshows, for I do not know anything about gadgets!=)

And to hear from my son "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM, I LOVE U,
    SIMPLY BECAUSE--
YOUR THE BEST MOM IN THE WHOLE WORLD!" is really a heart-whelming and memorable moment!

Thanks for this contest AMW and AVON!=)
    Hoping to win..
