Make Up For Ever Artist Liner in Matte Black Review

Do you still remember my rave on Make Up For Ever's Aqua Eyes Eyeliner?  Would you believe I still purchase and repurchase those for my clients?

Bam came the end of 2014 when I was oriented with Make Up For Ever's new black liners!  3 variants to choose from all in BLACK BLACK!  --- Artist Liner (on spotlight in this blog post), Ink Line rand Graphic Liner.

When I got the Artist Liner (a.k.a. eyeliner pencil) on hand, I was really hesitant because like I mentioned a lot of times during my make up seminars --- No Pencil Liner can withstand our country's humidity!  Now, can this change my statement?  We'll see....

Instead of the usual "sharpen-as-you-go" liner pencil, this is packaged in a twist-up packaging which I really like because I'm too lazy to sharpen all my eye pencils!  Please, holler if you agree with me :P

Pros
  • Don't require sharpening!
  • Matte black is TRUE VERY MATTE BLACK.
  • Excellent color payoff.
  • Stays the whole day!
  • The effect is almost the same as that of a liquid/cream liners.
  • Glides on eyelid, waterline, lower lashline with ease.
  • These liners can also be smudged to create a nice sultry look.
  • Once set, the liner did not budge!

Cons
  • Packaging.  Once you twist up, you can't twist it back down.  Not a biggie but considering how we are used to twisting back our liners back.
Overall
Definitely better than the Aqua Eyes!  This, so far, in my humble opinion, is the BEST Pencil Liner to date!

Tips
  • Apply thickly above the lashline and quickly smudge for a pretty simple smoky eye look.
  • If you prefer this as an eyeliner, let it set for a couple of minutes or best? Set with a translucent powder or eyeshadow powder.
  • If you have seriously oil lids, use an eyelid primer.
  • Apply using the "side" of the liner if you prefer a thin line.
  • Apply using short, quick strokes connected lines from the other.
Will I repurchase?
Big YES!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Pencil liner wearers who prefers the really nice pigmentation, no eyelid tugging and best of all?  Lasts the whole day without smudging!

Before and After

Overall, I am very happy with this liner and actually put this pencil as part of my professional kit!
