Smart Unbox Event

When Smart did a huge "rebrand" last month with the change of logo and all.  The internet went abuzz over the new logo.  I knew something is up!  That's why when I got an invite for #SmartUnbox event, I had to be there to know what my mobile provider has to offer this time.

I attended the event with fellow Smart user and Blogger friend Angela!  (Thanks Angela for the photo!) 

True enough, it was indeed an "Unboxing" event!  Upon arrival, we were each given a box to unbox and the Smart Girls were there to assist us as we were both clueless on what's happening!

It was indeed a night of learning all the slew of innovations by Smart, a company who always aims to change the way Filipinos connect.

The event was held at Shangri La at The Fort and were graced by Smart giants, meaning, the "smart" people behind Smart.

PLDT and Smart Chairman and CEO Manny V. Pangilinan welcomed the audience with an inspiring remark:  “Smart has built a legacy of bringing mobile innovations into the life of all Filipinos, and with the digital wave upon us, we have come up with innovative products and services to bring the real-life benefits of connectivity to as many Filipinos as possible,”

And that brought me back to the time I was working abroad were my family heavily depend on a good data plan for them to be able to read my email and get in touch with me through Video Calls.

Smart Consumer Operations Head Ms. Katrina Luna-Abelarde, led the Smart Unbox presentation with more good news! “Our multi-pronged efforts range from bringing the smartphone to the hands of more digital newbies, to providing the most awesome content for young digital natives, to making sure that everyone will enjoy the best data experience. Our goal is to make sure no one gets left behind by this digital shift,” 

Now let's talk about #SmartUnbox , what did they unbox?  So much!  Too much I can't seem to digest everything that night!

Well first things first, if you follow me on Instagram, you've probably seen this post when I spent quality time with my family at Fishermall last weekend.

Giga Surf 50, its biggest data offer with 1GB data for surfing and apps, plus free 300MB for video streaming on YouTube and iflix, valid for three days at only P50. As an innovative feature, this 1GB data can be shared with other prepaid subscribers through the Smart’s Pasadata service!  No wonder people are flocking!

Aside from that, Smart introduced its bigger and better Smartphone Prepaid Kit at only Php1,288.00, making it easier for Filipinos to connect to mobile Internet and get accustomed to using online apps and services. 

And for those who has multiple gadgets, like I do, sharing connection is now easier with Smart Bro Pocket WiFi available only at Php888.00.

And since speed and size matter in the online world, they also added Super Speed LTE SIMs!

And that's not all!  Just when I thought the unboxing was over!  Smart also announced Marty The Smarty, everyone's go-to-guy for all kinds of questions and concerns about mobile data and Internet.  You may access his website www.martythesmarty.com and follow him on Twitter @askmartysmarty.

And naku I'm not yet done!  Smart also further enhanced its My Smart mobile app, so prepaid and postpaid subscribers can manage their accounts 24/7 anytime anywhere.  All you have to do is download the app on Google Play Store and iTunes and you may check the status for promos and load up accounts and redeem perks.

Now, that's not all!  Smart teamed up with YouTube for Smart Launchpad, a program to help budding content creators to upload their own work and broadcast it to the world via Upload Stations all over the country.  This is called "Own It" campaign --- a wonderful platform that encourages our youth to share their passion and voice!  Now, the most deserving content creators will be lucky enough to fly to LA for a once-in-a-lifetime experience of collaborating with the biggest YouTube Stars.  WOW!

And last Thursday night, Smart kicks off Smart Music Live! for a free-for-subscribers concert featuring Ely Buendia, Up Dharma Down and Nathan Sykes at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.  The event also feature perks and meet and greet events for upcoming concerts of hit artists like Selena Gomez’s on July 31; In the Mix featuring Third Eye Blind, Panic! At the Disco, James Bay, Elle King and Twin Pines on August18; and Shawn Mendes’ in October.

And lastly (whew!)  the night was capped with another great news!  The launch of Smart Life app, a breakthrough app featuring daily exclusive digital perks, videos, music, and games for mobile users.
