How I Take Care of My Color-Treated Hair

I started coloring my hair even way before I started Blogging, that said, it is more than a decade that my hair has been exposed with harsh chemicals!

I have been asked so many times by readers and friends on how I maintain the "healthy look" of my hair.  I said "Look" because I am sure my hair isn't as healthy as it was when I was in highschool but I can still say, I can run my fingers through my hair without causing me to tear-up from hair pulling and tangles.

That said, I will be sharing just some of the many secret (or not-so-secret secret) products that I use.

Way before I got an invite to attend an Yves Rocher hair event last year, I already mentioned to the brand how much of an Yves Rocher Hair Products Fan I am!  I have tried and used almost ALL their shampoo and conditioner variants (and please don't let me get started with my love for the Radiance Rinsing Vinegar, I spoke so highly of it my friends where joking me: "Ikaw may ari?")

If you ask me, all their Shampoo and Conditioners work for me but my favorite for my hair type is the Nutri-Silky Treatment Shampoo and Conditioner.  I repurchased so many times I deserve an award :P

Now back to my color-treated hair topic, I currently discovered another "favorite" hair care product from the brand called Yves Rocher Low Shampoo - a new way to wash your hair.

According to Yves Rocher ---
"Inspired by the no pow (no shampoo) method used in the United States, the Low Shampoo* is a new way to wash the hair. Replace your classic shampoo with a hair care product enriched with cleansing agents. It's the new step in a hair care routine. You will be surprised by its new formula which does not lather! This delicate cleansing cream protects the integrity of the hair fiber even if used daily."

Now, let me first talk about Silicones and sulfates on shampoos.  These are the ingredients that help make your shampoos lather up, creating suds that make us feel like our hair will be cleaner overtime.  This particular ingredient also helps "Coat" your hair thus making it feel like the product is working before your hair is easier to comb, feels soft and silky to touch.  What we probably need to know is that overtime, it builds up in our hair thus making it dry and dull.  Aside from that, based from research, sulfates can strip off hair's natural oil thus ruining our hair follicles and hair shaft overtime.

But of course, using a no-suds shampoo can be a bit difficult especially if you have naturally oily hair!  I find that my hair is more oily than usual so I actually found a better way to use this product.

I mostly use regular Yves Rocher shampoos and conditioners (alternating anti-dandruff variant and regular nutritive variant) adding Low Shampoo at least twice or thrice a week!  This is the best method because I found my hair to be at its' healthiest state.

I also like to add up a very little amount of the Yves Rocher Hair Repair Oil which works wonders especially at the dry ends of my hair!

Of course, I do not exclusively use only this brand, I still rotate and try other brands once in awhile but I'm sharing what currently works for me.
