Askmewhats Reviews: Laura Mercier Blue Sky Eyeshadow Quad

I never own any Laura Mercier products in my make-up collection. I do admit to have stalked their counters several times but I find it a bit too pricey so I always ended up walking away empty-handed wishing I have a "fairy god-mommy".

One day, I was strolling around the Rustan's beauty area AGAIN, (note: I have my usual route) and the final stop would be the Laura Mercier counter, I don't know what has gotten into me, but the sales staff asked if I needed anything, and I said "Yeah, anything on sale!" LOL <--- that's how cheap I am ! Anyways, I was surprised that the sales staff pointed out the other side of the table and they do have a couple of products separated from the rest. I walked closer and took a good look! They do have sale! What caught my eye is the Laura Mercier Limited Edition Quads (there's only 2 of them) One quad is called "Storm Cloud" which is more into neutrals and the other one is called "blue sky" which is obviously all about the blues. The price was reduced from Php1,600 to about Php950.00! (from $38 to $22). I took a good look at the 2 quads, mentally did a quick "visit" to my make-up collection and finally decided to go for the "Blue Sky" Quad! Here's my first Laura Mercier baby....I want her to have brothers and sisters LOL

And of course, it wouldn't be complete without a swatch :)

Based on the swatch test, I would say it is highly pigmented and all the colors are wearable and really lovely to look at! I haven't tested it on my eyes yet with regards to it staying power and if it's crease-resistant! So you guys can wait further for me to test drive this before I give a more in-depth review.

No. 1 Black - looks black but in person, it is black but with tiny specks of blue sparkle, lovely
No. 2 Cobalt - e/s looks so much alike as my NYX Atlantic Blue :)
No. 3 Peacock Blue - is very pretty! I would use this all over my eyes alone
No. 4 Blue Shimmer - is very shimmery, I may use this together with another complimentary color , maybe put this on the lid area only to have this lovely shimmer everytime you blink ;)

See ya around my friends!
We may not have a lot of cosmetics sale here in our country,
but do not hesitate to ask the sales staff !
There's no harm in asking right?

Romantic Pink Nails and Tip

Every princess has her own story....

Mine is plain and simple...

I painted my nails pink,

I got a wink ;)

from the man of my dreams!

Products Used ---
  • L'oreal Jet-Set Pink
  • The Face Shop in PK104
I seldom have my nails professionally done, first, I want to save up and second, I do ENJOY doing my own nails! (Surprisingly! lol)

When you plan to use a "Shimmery" nail polish, you always wonder why the polish looks really good on bottle but when used, the color isn't that vibrant? Well read on! Simple answer for you.

"Shimmery" nail polish are just like our shimmery e/s. We need a base for the e/s to show up. Same concept with the nail polish!

1. Choose a similar colored polish that can serve as a base (the color Platinum is the best!)
2. After putting on the base, swipe one coat of the Platinum color.
3. Swipe a coat of the "shimmery" nail polish (you can swipe 2x)
4. You can finish up with a top coat!

Smile and say YAY!!! Nice looking nails that are vibrant and lasts!
Do you like "pink" nail polish? If not? What color do you think looks best on your nails?

Want to see what I go through to have my nails done?

Step-by-Step Guide on using a Hair Clip

Mirror mirror on the table...
who is the fairest of them all?
"not you"
cause your hair's a total mess!

The way you style your hair, can either make you a goddess or a witch. I truly acknowledge styling the hair is as important as putting on makeup. It can either make or break your look.

First of all, let me clarify that I'm not claiming to be a "hair expert", what you'll be hearing from me are from my own experiences and ideas as I've been through years of struggling with my own hair, so this could work for me but not to others (I do hope it works for everyone though)

I got this beautiful clip as a gift from my students when I was teaching in China. It was 4 years ago and I didn't know what to do with it so I kept it for a while. It came up to a time that I just want to conquer this and so far, I was able to use this without any rubber bands , hair pins or even clips!

Here's how it looks like...thanks again to my wonderful student from ZFU for giving me this as a gift. Scroll down and you'll see the "Askmewhats version" of the step-by-step guide.
Smile and Enjoy!

Step 1: Start off by coming your hair well

Step 2: Hold onto your hair and slowly twist it while pulling your hair clockwise

Step 3 : Twist while forming a bun

Step 4: Twist more, not letting go
(make sure to support your hair)

Step 5: Continue to twist until you form a "mini bun"

Step 5: Hold onto the last end and pull it out a bit to tighten the hair

Step 7: Clip the hair with the big clip
making sure all areas are covered

This will be how it looks like!
May look a bit messy, but it stays

Here's how the side looks like

And...the other side (yup cam-whoring even sideview) LOL

If you will be attending a more formal affair make sure to note down the following:
  • Spray on leave-on conditioner or any hair products that would soften your hair
  • Loosely tie a coated elastic band and create a low pony-tail
  • Do all the "twisting" steps
  • After everything was done, spray on hair-spray all over your hair and slightly comb your hair so that small hairs won't show up
This is such a long post right?
Sorry...
But just for you guys to know, I still have the bun right intact!
This will look great on those "bad hair" days and you just want your hair neatly pulled up!

Smile and be happy and be "Bun-tiful!"

Askmewhats Version: "Sparkly Black" Look

One "small-eye" shot a day....
Drives the "big eye" away! LOL

I tried another dark eye look and I came up using silvery shadows as base
Putting on very dark e/s on the lid and blending it well...
Then top it off with a sparkly e/s and the whole look would be... "Sparkly Black"
