Yves Rocher "Gris Profound" Look

Who would've thought I can create an eyeshadow look from a brand that is known for Botanical ingredients?

Well, to see is to believe, the brand actually creates good eyeshadow palettes I am so confused why I left it sitting on my vanity for the longest time!  One day, I wanted to create a daytime smoky eye makeup look and I saw the Yves Rocher Quad Sumptuous Color Palette in Gris Profound, this palette consists of Black, Gray and White which is a perfect quad for smoky eye makeup.

By the way, they have other shades available, they have blues, browns and purples.

How To: Give Yourself a Subtle Makeover!

You know how it is when you do your makeup on a daily basis and you wished you will look at least a bit different on special days?

Well, you can!  And that doesn't entail you to pile on MORE makeup, instead, try to be adventurous and do something different, change a bit of your "usual" makeup routine.

Okay...let me think...I usually like to wear bright lipstick sans eye makeup!  So, if I plan to go on a special event or I need to have my photo taken and I wanted to look nice....this is my game plan to change the way I look..in a very subtle manner.

  1.  I normally wear concealer then set with powder.  For a change, I'll go for full yet still a natural-looking coverage.
  2. Instead of the usual thick brows, I'll leave my brows looking natural and soft.  No harsh lines there!
  3. I will wear a bit more eye makeup.
  4. Instead of the usual dark lips, I'll go for very light colored lipstick!
  5. I tend to shy away frome xtremely pink colored blush, so I'll use it this time!
But please..don't ask me to remove the highlighting part..it is my favorite! Just give it to me okay? :P

AMW Version: Daytime makeup for the PowerPuff Girl

The title probably made you go "EH?" but I have a reason for such title!

A reader once emailed me and asked me for help on makeup for puffy eyes!  Okay, am I being asked because I have puffy eyes?  *raises one eyebrow*

Fine!  It's true! I do have puffy eyes on random days and I do have clients with puffy eyes too!  (Ttrying to include everyone here, I'm not alone on this okay?) *laughs*

*Grumpy Mode over*

I finally had the chance to create AMW way!  Please bear in mind there are a lot more ways to do this!  At the end of the day, practice makes perfect!  Try as many color combinations and techniques

AMW Diagram

I used the Clinique Lid Smoothie Anti-oxidant 8-hour eye colour in Pinko Biloba all  over the lids.

Step 1:
Apply a shimmery pinkish eyeshadow all over lids.  I am using Pink Chiffon Shimmer Wash eyeshadow from Bobbi Brown's Pretty Palette.

I usually steer away from shimmery shades as it can enhance eye puffiness, try to be careful by applying only a tiny amount to create a subtle shimmer underneath.

Step 2:
Taking out my Human Nature Mineral Eyeshadow Enchanted Evening palette, I applied the silvery-gray eyeshadow on the crease area going a bit beyond.  Add the shadow as needed and blend the harsh edges with a fluffy blending brush.  I am using a Vegan Blending Brush from Charm.

Step 3:
With a pencil brush, I grabbed a good amount of matte black eyeshadow from Sleek applying carefully only on the crease area.

With the same fluffy blending brush on Step2, blend to blur out edges blending the silver gray eyeshadow and the matte black eyeshadow.

Step 4:
Time for eye lining, I whipped out my ELF Cream Eyeliner in Black and lined my eyes carefully.

Step 5:
Since everything is turning out a bit too dark for a daytime look, I used a nice Teal Colored Fluidliner pencil from Inuovi.  (thanks a dear angel for gifting me this, I love this so much!)

Curl your lashes and apply a good amount of mascara.

My Finish Look
Dark dark colored eyeshadow on the crease area decreases the look of puffiness  The bright colored liner is an added plus to focus on the bright liner instead of the puffy eyes!

What's on the rest of my face?

For the Face:

For the Cheeks
Shu Uemura x Wong Kar Wai
in Pleasure Rose

For the Lips:
Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited in Pink Flush
Revlon Colorburst in Pink Ice

The makeup focuses on the eyes and left
with an ice-y pink cheeks and lips

Okay, you may expect something more like drawing myself into a Powerpuff girl character!  *laughs*
Of course not!  Halloween is over :)
Hope you enjoyed this simple AMW Version!

Have a great day!

AMW Version: Toned Down J.Lo

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Did you jump  start your week with a super positive vibe?  I did!  And I am staying positive that the week will go on smoothly because I say so! :)

When it comes to make-up looks, I usually do not get inspired by singers or actresses as I'm always leaning toward to natural look.  When I was watching J.Lo, as a judge, on American Idol plus her recent music video I'm Into You", I'm inspired to use the following J.Lo material --- Silver eyeshadow, False Lashes, Bronzed-cheeks, nude lips plus super glowing skin!

Note that I won't be ending up  looking like J.Lo as she's the Goddess and I'm her....old shoe?  *laughs*  Seriously,  this is a look inspired by the colors that makes J.Lo who she is now....

Toned Down J.Lo a la AMW :P
Sounds like a new dish right? *laughs*

Zee AMW Diagram
(Still sounding like a dish) :P
Step 1:
Prime your lids first with your favorite shadow primer, I am using Etude House Proof 10 Eyelid Primer.  I took out my Sleek Graphite Palette and used a bright silver shadow and applied on the inner 3/4 of the lid including the inner lower lash line!  Remember to do this with a flat shadow brush on a patting motion.  Add the color as you go on!

Step 2:
J.Lo likes to apply an extra pop of earth toned shadows above the crease on the hollow of the eye socket (if that's the way you call it) *laughs*  You can use any brown shades but I've decided to "girl it up" a bit and used a plum shade eyeshadow from my Victoria Jackson Survival Kit.

Step 3:
Deepen the look of your eyes with matte black eye shadow.  I've used a pencil brush for the colors to show up more.  I also used the same brush and eyeshadow to apply a bit on the outer thirds of the lower lash line.  This gives a nice "shadow" and create bigger looking eyes.

Step 4:
Lined my upper lash line with Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in Black.  Optional to use pencil liner to line the water line.  Do not forget to fill in your eyebrows but I tried making them look as natural as possible as I want my eyeshadow to be the focal point.

On a regular day, just curl your lashes and apply coats of your favorite mascara.  In this tutorial, I've re-used my GlamBox Mink Fur Lashes.

Step back, remove fall outs or clean excess shadows with cotton bud

For the Face:
INuovi Litebase 3Y
Kate Mineral Powder OC-C

For the Cheeks:
L'Oreal True Match Blush in Apricot Kiss

For the Lips:
Awake Lipstick in Apricot Cream

I forgot to take a pix but I used some of my favorite highlighters on my face!
Move on J.Lo! I'm the new Asian J.Lo!!!  *JUST JOKING!* :P

AMW Version: Back to Earth

Happy Tuesday everyone!  It was a rainy and gloomy weekend on our side but nothing stops me from going out to celebrate Father's Day and at the same time, it was perfect timing for me to watch re-runs of Boys Over Flowers until 2:00am!  I love weekends!

Yes, I know!  It's Tuesday and I'm still talking about the weekend!  Can't help it!

I will be sharing another AMW Version, a smokey eye makeup with a nude lipstick!  For me, smokey eye makeup is one of the best way to enhance one's eyes!  It also looks good on most eye shapes and sizes!  People who has monolids will also enjoy this style of eye make-up application.

You can experiment with color combinations, here's what I came up with....

 AMW Diagram

Keep in mind to use an eyelid primer to make your eyeshadow stay in place and prevent further fall outs.

Step 1:
Using a flat shader brush, apply Revlon Luxurious Color in 015 Shimmering Sienna all over the lids going a bit beyond.  Do not worry about the distinct lines created as we will blur it out later on.

Step 2:
Flip over the flat shader brush and apply The Body Shop's Eye Colour in no 43 which looks like moss green with loads of shimmer.  This is a nice "balance" for the smokey eye makeup not to look too dark!

Step 3:
Use any matte/shimmery black eyeshadow to apply only inside the crease.  I am using Sleek palette Graphite.

Step 4:
I lined my upper lashline with KATE Gel Liner in Black.

Step 5:
Instead of lining my waterline with regular pencil liner, I opted to use a pencil brush and apply a dark, shimmery silver eyeshadow on the outer area of the lower lash line.

Step 6:
Brighten the eye area with a shimmery peach shadow using the same Sleek Graphite Palette and apply on the inner thirds of the lower lash line using the same pencil brush.

Fill in your brows and curl your lashes and apply coats of mascara.
I used Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, Bobbi Brown  mascara
and Etude House Drawing Eye Brow Pencil

Here's my version of Back to Earth colors!
I used Brown which represents soil
Green to represent plants
Black, just to enhance the "smokey effect"

Check out what I used for the rest of my face

Skin Food White Grape Fresh Foundation No. 23
Pat with Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover in BO10
