Askmewhats Reviews: Paul & Joe Protective Dual Powder Foundation

** Available at Rustan's Makati for Php2,125.00 (approx $47)

Hate me for talking about Paul & Joe once again? I am SORRY :( But I have to do this review! LOL I was browsing through the photos shot by my hubby and I came to realize I kept on raving about P&J products but I didn't talk further about the product! I think this is the right time I talk about this product because I am almost done with this one! I have 1/4 product left! :( (I hate to repurchase, goodbye moolah again)

Paul & Joe Says ---

A high SPF powder foundation for cool, sensuous skin. A moisturizing and flexible makeup base with a meltingly soft texture which adheres gently to the skin, whilst protecting against summer dryness.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • very natural looking
  • has SPF
  • good coverage
  • non-drying, non cakey
  • has refills (saves the environment)
  • stays put for the whole day, I've done 2 retouch in a day by just patting on my nose area (but again, I have dry skin)
Cons
  • Pricey (one refill almost cost the same as MAC SF)
  • compact is quite big compared to other brands
  • since it is really soft and smooth, powder tends to crack when you're half way
  • Limited shades available
Overall
P&J Dual Powder foundation as compared to MAC (as I'm using both) has sheerer coverage. It is more natural looking and you have this "Bridal" look when you use this powder (Meaning, very neat looking).

I find that even though "limited shades available" are put under CONS. I think it is fine as P&J shades available in Manila adheres to the Asian skin tones. I find that even if I use Shades 20, 30 or 40...it all looks fine to me as the colors aren't too far from each other.

I am using the older version which has higher SPF of 25, while the newer version (Which I also bought) has SPF 20 only but, I was told it has better coverage. (I will test on the newer version soon and let you guys know how I feel about it)

Tips
  • if you are going for a really clean/neat/party look, use your favorite liquid foundation, then use a brush, top it with the P&J Dual Powder Foundation (FLAWLESS LOOKING!)
  • using a triangle sponge instead of the sponge that comes with this compact (for me) is better! <-- maybe it's just me!
  • pat gently, do not rub
  • test this product on counters first, because it doesn't come cheap! P&J counters in Manila have new triangle sponges, and they willingly let you test it on your whole face before you purchase anything! Go around shopping, and see how it works for you. DO NOT BE PRESSURED TO BUY!

Will I repurchase?
Yes! I have 2 back ups!

Products, no matter how expensive or cheap they are,
as long as they work on you...
are worth buying!
Never be pressured by anyone to buy anything!
Trust your judgment and instinct!
You'll be ok :D

How To Apply Your Leave-on Conditioner/Hair Serum

Taking care of my hair is just like taking care of my skin. I make sure I use the right product and of course....applying it the RIGHT WAY!

Let me show you some of the leave-on conditioners and hair serums I've used (not all together of course)

1. Pantene Pro-V Leave-On Hair Moisturizer
2. Changpo Hair Coating Essence
3. Citre Shine Miracle Anti-Frizz Serum
4. Sunsilk Radiant Light Brown Leave-on

Always use a small amount of the leave-on conditioner or serum
(photo below)

Too much product will weigh your hair down.

Rub your hands together to distribute the product on both your hands

Create a loose pony tail using both hands.
Slowly distributing the product from the ear down to the tips
Do not apply the product on the roots
(may cause dandruff <-- tested)

Run your fingers all over your hair with feather-y strokes
Slowly passing your hands on the top portion of your head
(you can see that most stylist in hair salon does this step)

There's still some remaining product on your hair
Rub it side to side (photo below)
Comb as desired!

Using these products can be easy, but using this the wrong way may cause ---
  • oiliness
  • weighing down of hair
  • dandruff
  • BAD HAIR DAY!
Remember to---
  • use sparingly
  • always rub the product with both hands to distribute the product well (we don't want the whole blob of product on one area of your hair right?)
  • check on your hair a couple of days after using this product to see if there are any bad reactions.
  • STOP using the product (no matter how expensive it is) if you started to have dry, itchy scalp (a.k.a. DANDRUFF)
Finally ---

Comb and style your hair as usual and..... SMILE!!!!
(imagine that you've got the best hair EVER!)

Love your skin,
Love your hair,
Love everything about you...
and people will start to Love you too!

Nail Art Tutorial: MAC's "Cult of Cherry" Nails

Everyone's raving and talking about the MAC's Cult of Cherry Collection. I wanted to share my "Cult of Cherry" phenomena, so I've created something "Cherry" related :D
(again, I am no expert in any way or form, I am just someone who loves painting my own nails, or try to *winks*)

Step 1:

Paint your nails with any colors you want as a base. I chose mine in Platinum color.

Step 2:

Wait for a couple of minutes to let it dry for a bit. I've applied 2 coats.

Step 3:

With a reddish nail art pen, create 2 dots (as cherries). You don't have to make the dots perfect as cherries in real life aren't perfect, right?

Step 4:

Create dots in all 5 fingers so you don't have to open and close the nail art pen (which will cause the product to dry up)

Step 5:

Create twigs with a brown color, in my case, I don't have brown colored nail art pen, so I've used black instead. Create a twig with V shape connecting the 2 cherries.

Step 6:

Again, do it in all 5 fingernails!

Step 7:

Using a green nail art pen, create a leaf, going in any direction you want. Your choice. Your masterpiece :D

Step 8:

Top it with clear nail polish. Blowdry the polish on one hand first before you proceed in doing the other fingers. Make sure to let it completely dry before you ruin your nail art while doing the other hand!

Cherry-fic! Here's a simple Cherry Nails tutorial for you guys to try it out :)

Before I end this post, let me share to you a lovely shirt my hubby bought for me!
Made me smile....I am so childish..but who cares?

Shirt made by the company called "WHATEVER!" check out their shirts. A lot of cool prints and cute ones as well! Click to enlarge and see how cute they are! My favorite is the "You Rock! You Rule!" red shirt!

Still afraid to try on nail art?
Do not be, life is too short to be scared :D

P.S. A lot of my readers asked me regarding the 2 Way Nail Art Pen set.
I've found a very nice supplier and will probably sell them in good affordable price! (via Multiply)
I will let you guys know when the stocks arrive! Soon! :D

Weekend Food Tripping at: Pink Pepper

It's weekend once again! And it's time for another food tripping! We've decided to go and eat where it's near our place coz it's raining like crazy for the past week and you just don't know how much it floods here in downtown Manila! :(

Rain or shine, our stomach's always ready to try on anything new !

Located at the Robinson's Midtown Malate Manila. A cute restaurant called PINK PEPPER. How could I say no to "pink"? Yes, even peppers!

Here's how the cute restaurant look like from outside.
A couple of waitress are hovering outside holding a menu
inviting you to try on their dishes!

And here's how the interior looks like
quite small in area, and they have a "band" area to play some LOUD songs
Look at the cute pink lights!

They also jampacked the place with a bar
The bar looks really nice and look what we found?
A cute coca-cola spinning against gravity :D

We hate decisions, good thing they have a FAMILY Meal
I believe this meal is good for 3-4 people
There's only 2 of us..lol we can always take out!

Let's start with the Pepperoni PIZZA!
VERY thin crusted pizza!
Very crispy! It honestly taste like crackers
Check out this pizza with the "spicy" pizza oil

Sorry for the bad shot,
the place was quite dim
and putting on a flash would scare the rest of the customers! LOL
Here's the best shot we've done to let you see how thin crust this is
(If you are a hungry mammal, do not just order a pizza as you won't get full!)

Carbonara Pasta
This one tastes yummy, don't like the garlic bread though, not crispy!
The pasta tastes creamy with bacon and ham!

One Whole Fried Chicken
included in the Family Meal.
It is not the usual Fried chicken as there's a hint of Curry
(not sure in the chicken or in the gravy itself)

Overall, the food is ok. Service is good. It is something to check out for as there will definitely be times your taste buds wanted to try something new.

The whole family meal costs Php900.00 + tax = Php980.00 ($21.35)
A good meal with family or friends!

And before I end this post, let me share some beauty related stuffs!
Here's what I saw at the Elianto Counter at the Robinson's Mall!
Their nail polishes are on 40% off sale!
From Php99 to Php59! ($2.15 to $1.30)
But have to check with the sales lady as NOT ALL OF THE COLORS
are on SALE!

Remember to eat a hearty meal,
buy yourself stuffs that makes you pretty!
In that way...
You can really be beautiful both IN and OUT!
