Askmewhats Reviews: CS Gel Liner in White

Have I ever told you my love affair with Gel Liners?
Million times! lol
Here's another color added to my gel liner collection

CS Gel Liner
in Silk White

Yes, it's PURE WHITE
No shimmer

CS Gel Liner says ---

These apply with ease using an angle liner brush. Application is easy, has the ability to design and be creative, lasts all day without smudging or creasing and are highly pigmented.

Ingredients:

Isododecane, Polyethylene, Trimethylsilocysilicate, Cyclomethicone, Ozokerite, Ploymethylsilsesquioxane, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Lecithin, Propylparaben, BHT. May contain: Mica and Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide, Ultramarine Blue, Ca Lake, FD&C Blue No.1 Al Lake, D&C Black No.2.

Net wt.: 3g/0.11oz

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • creamy, no tugging
  • very affordable
  • pigmented
  • great to be used as e/s base to make the e/s vibrant
  • texture is ok, not too hard or runny in consistency
  • no allergies
  • no scent
Cons
  • does not last long: I put this on the waterline and it's gone before midday
  • these liners are not labeled if you purchase them straight from CS (I bought mine at MM shop so mine is labeled, thanks for doing this Toma)
  • smudges, even after waiting for it to dry. (Prettybeautiful, this is definitely not for you!)

Overall

This is not "the Star" gel liner from CS. I find that using this as an e/s base is better than using this as a liner.

I will remain firm to what I've written in the past, CS gel liners are great but not all the colors are consistent! :) So if you love CS True Black, do not expect all the textures will be like that.

Tips
  • If you plan to use this as base, make sure to put on eye primer
  • If used as eyeliner, pat on white eyeshadow to "seal" the color for it to last longer
  • Experiment with different brushes to see which brush works the best
  • I find that using a pointed eyelining brush is better than a flat liner brush as it's more pigmented and the color shows up more
Will I repurchase?

No. One white gel liner is enough for me.

Where did I purchase and how much?

Makeup Mix Shop for $5.00 (approx Php245.00) on sale
I think she's not selling them anymore.
You can purchase these alternatively at CS website.

Here's to show how it looks
as base
think liner
thick liner

Askmewhats Version: "April Fool's Day" Blues

Happy April Fools Day Everyone!

There isn't anything exciting about people fooling each other. So I won't do any of those! hahaha I have made a look though, it's April Fool's Day Blues.

I revisited my Laura Mercier quad and I can't believe I didn't touch it for awhile.

How did I achieve this look?

Step 1:

Before anything else, I applied CS Silk White Gel Liner on lid as base. Pat using my fingers.

Using a fluffy blending brush, apply Laura Mercier light blue color all over lid

Step 2:

With a flat shader brush, apply the darkest color from the LM Blue Sky Quad on the lid area, slowly blending outward.

Step 3:

Highlight the browbone and inner corner with any soft brush using my favorite Bourjois Beige Rose.

Step 4:

Line my eyes with CS True Black, wing it a bit, apply the lower lashline too

Curled my lashes and applied mascara

Here's the Look

April Fool's Blues! :)

And what's on the rest of my face?

For the face

MAC SF liquid NC30
mixed with CG TruBlend no.1

For the Cheeks

MAC Grand Duo Blush
in Light over Dark

Top a bit with P&J Face Color 08

For the Lips

Conceal the color of my lips
with ELF Tone Correcting concealer Light
Use In2It lipstick in Fresco

Enjoying the summer?

Happy April Fool's Day!
Don't let people fool you today! :)
Stay Happy!

Askmewhats Revisits: Clinique DDML

Askmewhats Revisits time!
It's another product that I'll be featuring that I've used up or almost used up! :)
Should I repurchase? Or not?

Introducing Clinique's
Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

also known as DDML

Final thoughts on the product ---

Pros
  • works well even on super sensitive skin as mine, I got face allergies in the past and I still continue to use this, did not aggravate my face
  • no more dryness on my skin, no flakiness
  • pump is wonderful, very hygienic
  • unscented
  • absorbs easily to the skin
  • though expensive, this product lasts a long long time! (photo proof below)
I purchased this product last year
February 9, 2008

Cons
  • when you're close to finishing the product, it is difficult to pump it out, so I have to twist this open to get the product out
  • no SPF
  • a bit expensive if you plan to purchase this full size (but totally worth it if it works for you)
Overall

This is a product that's been loved and hate by many. I am one of those lucky ones because this works for me. I suggest everyone to never purchase a full sized product without testing them first. I went in to purchase the full size because my Aunt gave me a trial size of this and it works well on my dry skin. I use this daily and I love how my skin changes from flaky to normal!

I don't see any anti-aging properties or see any significant changes on fine lines, I would say this works best as Moisturizer. It gives the skin the moisture it needed! :)

Will I repurchase?

Yes

Let me leave you with a question..
"With the current moisturizer you're using,
are you going to repurchase after you finish the product?"
Let me know!
I may learn a thing or two! :)
Stay Happy!

Weekend Food Tripping at: Figaro + 2 New Brushes

Hello friends! :)
Weekend is busy! I've got a colleague from our China office came over for a visit, so me and the colleagues will be guiding her around Manila and of course! Shopping :)

Weekend food tripping came in early because I had to share my love for coffee. A little bit of background, me and the hubby, when we were bfs/gfs, we love to stay at coffee shop and talk about anything!!! When we got married and we live quite far from all the wonderful places of shopping! LOL We decided to reminisce and have a nice quiet meal at Figaro.

Here's what we had for drinks :)
Hubby goes for Caffeine Free Iced Chocolate
Php95.00 (approx $2.00)
and mine is Mango juice!
Php125.00 (approx $2.60)

And I wonder why we were dining at a coffee shop

without COFFEE! LOL

Their Specfialty Pasta

called Pasta a la Carlo

Php199.00 (approx $4.15)

Smoked Farmer's Ham Sandwhich
Php179.00 (approx $3.73)

The Restaurant does not have a lot of food choices but hey! It's coffee shop! What I love about their coffee place is their ambience, simple, quiet and a nice place for a lovely date! :)

We dined at:

Figaro Coffee Company
2nd Floor Glorietta 3 Makati

I also wanted to add the 2 MAC brushes I bought over the week. If you are on my twitter list, you'll see that I posted a query to choose between the MAC242 and the MAC 239. I've been lemming for both but I wanted just one because I was telling myself (or trying to) that I don't need both.

Liz, a wonderful twitter pal and friend, advised me that MAC242 is great for cream based e/s or any cream based products, while MAC239 is great for powdered e/s. I've decided to buy 239 because I am a powdered e/s user.

But decisions aren't always final! LOL I gave in and bought these 2 because I know these 2 brushes will haunt me forever!

My happy purchase :)

Top: MAC239 Php1,495
Bottom: MAC242: Php1,495

Close up shot

Both are WORTH IT!
They join in my "must have" MAC brushes together with my MAC217.
I heart! I am so happy!!!
In-depth review soon!
I have to take a look
if I can find any CONS from these 2!

Stay happy!!! :)
