Weekend Food Tripping at: Ramen Bar

Happy Father's Day to all dads out there!  I'm sure restaurants are mostly full today as most families will be dining out to show how they appreciate their dads!  I myself have 2 dads so I'm definitely dining out twice!  I am thanking God for giving me two cool dads!  My dad, whom I've always thought to be distant to us is really a hardworking father who has been working very hard just to give his sons and daughters good education, he works from early morning til late at night to provide our needs!  I really appreciate my dad and I am not afraid to show the world how much I love him!

To my dad-in-law, who's equally as caring like my dad has always been there to support me! :)

Since I'm busy stuffing my face with food this weekend, let me share to you the restaurant we tried last week!  After the 3-hour L'Oreal Chroma Straight Makeover, I asked Angela, who live around Eastwood area to recommend a good restaurant!  She named a few and one of them is Ramen Bar!  Keith and I were craving for something "warm" and we always get that "warm, fuzzy feeling" from noodle soup!

Yakiniku Beef Rice Topping
Php165.00 (approx $3.80)
This order was under "Big Plates" category and the bowl came in a bit huge but the serving is enough for one hungry Nikki! :)  Don't worry, I get to share this with Mr. AMW as we both like variety when it comes to food!  The Yakiniku Beef Rice Topping from Ramen Bar is quite tender and tasty but I would appreciate if they could add more of the Yakiniku sauce on rice!  We tried to ask for more but we were offered a different sauce instead.

Sapporo Miso Ramen
Php320.00 (approx $7.45)
Miso infused Tonkotso Ramen topped with tamago,
naruto, negi, chasyu, butter and corn

We've always been a fan of Chasyu noodle soup at Aji-sen Ramen so we gave this a try right away as I was craving for miso based soup!  The ramen soup came with an okay serving of pork slices, noodles, fish sticks, dried seaweeds and spring onion.  What's unique with this ramen is the addition of butter!  The taste of butter was a bit overwhelming at first and I felt it doesn't belong but after several sip, we're actually liking how the butter easily melted into the soup making the whole experience more tasty.

We accompanied our dinner with a nice cup of house tea and Iced Tea

Oh, if you look up, Ramen Bar have different photos hanged on each side and Mr. AMW loved this photo so much as he told me she looks like me!  COME ON!  When do I eat my noodles like that?  (Ahem, at home!)  *laughs*

Overall, service was good and I'm loving the busy-vibe of the restaurant!  Reminded me so much of a busy restaurant in Tokyo!  The restaurant accepts both cash and credit card and they add service charge to the total bill.

Ramen Bar
Ground Floor Eastwood Mall
Libis, Quezon City, Philippines

Have you tried Ramen Bar?
How's your experience?  Any other must try noodle dish?
We'll definitely go back!

L'Oreal Chroma Straight Hair Makeover at David's Salon Eastwood

Happy weekend once again!  The week passed by pretty quickly but I have managed to use my time wisely!  Last week, after the Estee Lauder counter visit, I went straight to David's Salon located at Eastwood for my L'Oreal Chroma Straight Makeover.

As you all know, L'Oreal was kind enough to give away Chroma Straight Makeover to one lucky AMW Reader!  The winner and myself were originally planned to do this makeover together, but I guess scheduling was a huge problem and I was a bit too busy for the past weekends so it was a perfect Saturday afternoon for me to finally do something to my "starting to get unmanageable" hair!

Let's rewind to my Rebonding History, some of you may not know that my hair is rebonded!  My first rebond was a result of "boredom in China"!  It was those years I was young and easily swayed so I was talked into doing this treatment (In Chinese!*lol*) even though I do not have super curly or frizzy hair.  Like most people who went through the rebonding process, you would probably understand why we need to do the process again and again!

After a year, yup!  A year!  Thanks to all those hair treatments, serums and moisturizing sprays that I tediously apply on my hair as it survived a year of "half and half hair" (wavy on top, straight at the bottom)

Let's get back to the makeover story!  I do not go to Eastwood much so I did ask directions from the friendly security guys and we were guided to the right direction, as I entered the salon, I took notice on the lovely hair products display right away and went straight to the receptionist as I have an appointment!  Waiting area is huge and a staff went up to me right away to lead me to my area!

What's a Chroma Straight Makeover?

Eureka Moment: Organize-It!

"Eureka!!!!"  *raises arms and a leg* hahaha

I'm finally back with a Eureka Moment post!  Forgive me as I haven't been going out that much to see great finds!  Mr. AMW and I was searching for a good, sturdy case to put inside my Zuca Case.  If you've seen my detailed review (HERE) one of the Con of this case is the need to purchase sturdy cases for the products not to topple over each other inside the pouch.  The challenge?  Finding the right sized cases and I thought of SM Homeworld right away!

Here's what I ended up with

Keyway White Plastic Organizer (small)
Php129.75 (approx $3.00)
This comes with a detachable divider, this case is perfect for potted products!  I put my gel liners, cream based blushers, lip balms, etc...

Keyway White Plastic Organizer (big)
Php199.75 (approx $4.60)
A bigger version of the photo above, this is best used to store my powdered eye shadows and blushes.  I like piling them next to each other so I can easily see them while doing makeup!

Masflex Mesh organizer (small)
Php89.75 (approx  $2.00)
Another nice case to put my powder foundations.  I can put 4  to 5 MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundations standing right up against each other and add up some smaller loose setting powder pots on the side.

Masflex Mesh organizer (small)
Php119.75 (approx  $2.80)
I didn't bring the ZUCA pouch with me when I purchased these, so yeah, I made a huge mistake of purchasing this big one that can't fit inside the Zuca pouch!  But hey, nothing gets wasted on AMW-land *lol* This is the "star" when it comes to cleaning my brushes, after washing, I put the brushes in here and it gets dry easily with the mesh!

So far, I'm very happy with all my purchases and the cost isn't too much to keep my train case sturdy and organized!
Any other storage cases you've found that works?
Care to share?

AMW Wears: Sperry Top-sider

Remember the Sperry Top-Sider Weekend Event that I posted?  It was one of those afternoon that I would treasure as it was a fun after cruising at the Bay with a boat reserved for the event and it isn't everyday I get to think NOTHING but enjoy the view.

As reported, I was one of the lucky 3 who won the "Best in Nautical Outfit" so for the prize, I get to pick a pair of any Sperry shoes of choice!  It was not after a month or so I get to visit the store at Trinoma and it was the most mind-boggling decision-making (in terms of shoes) to pick just a pair as both Mr. AMW and myself have around 3-4 favorites!

Eager to know what I ended up with?

The classic Sperry Top-sider Boatshoe

Sperry Top-sider A/O in Red Sun
Price: Roughly Php3,300++

Sperry Top-Sider A/O Red Sun Bleached Canvas is genuinely handsewn tru-moc construction.  It's comforting to know that the eyelets on the shoes are rustproof and the laces are fully functional and adjustable and easy to remove for washing.  And of course, let's not forget the patented wave-siping for ultimate wet/dry traction.

I love that this boatshoe is very comfortable worn even on its own!  I like the nice contrast of red against my yellow skin.

I've chosen this shade because seldom can I find a red shade that isn't too "shocking".  To create focus on the lovely color, I paired it once with a dark ensemble.  Dark brown sweater top and black high-waisted shorts for a kiddie party!  Okay, Kiddie Party = bangs!  LOL!  My bangs grew long so I don't look like a "trying-hard high school student" anymore!

**sweater top by Mint
Short bought in Malaysia

Do you or your parents or friends own a Sperry?

AMW Reviews: Bed Head Tigi Headrush

I do hair at times and I have to admit, I enjoy it a lot!  Given the chance, I wouldn't mind doing both hair and makeup on my clients but it really depends on how many "heads" I have to do!

It won't be a surprise to see an area for makeup and an area for hair stuff in my room (sorry Mr. AMW, I'm turning our room into a girly pad!  lol)  Aside from makeup, I search high and low for good hair products to lug with me if I need to do hair for clients, just like makeup, I make sure to bring out the best!

One of the brand that doesn't fail (but pricey) is from TIGI!  Bed Head products are great especially their curl boosters, hair sprays and mousse.  There's one unique product that recently came out in the market called Headrush!  The name is so unique and I'm so excited to try this!

Bed Head says ---
A lightweight aerosol supershine mist that gives explosive shine for immaculate, healthy looking hair.

Ingredients:
Cyclomethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone Copolycol, Propylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Ethyl Ester of Hydrolyzed Silk.

Fragrance: Light Citrus
Net Wt.: 5.3 oz. 200ml

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Spray type packaging that's easy to use.
  • Hair feels soft, smooth and very silky after use.
  • Hair has a "glossy", shiny look.
  • Never feels heavy on hair.
Cons
  • Scent could get a bit too overwhelming.  It's okay for me but not okay for everyone.
  • Price.
  • Easy to finish up the product as compared to serum.
Overall
There will be an instant gratification upon using this product as you see the shiny and glossy hair immediately after application.  The downside is how quickly you can finish up a can and of course, the price!
Tips
  • Best to spray all over dry hair, after blow dry or flat iron.
  • If you use products such as this on your hair, it helps to use clarifying shampoo once a week to prevent product build up.
  • Try not to spray inside an enclosed room as the scent could get a bit overwhelming.
  • Spraying all over the hair with a circular motion then gently brush with a paddle brush for an immediate shine.
  • Store product in cool, dry place.
Will I repurchase?
Yes. For clients.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who likes the "instant" shine without messing their hands and are willing to shell out huge amount of money.  I strongly recommend hairstylists to invest on this especially if most of their gigs are for photoshoots!  This gives an instant boost of shine on hair which is great for photography!

Where to purchase and how much?
At the following salons for Php1,720.00 (approx $40.00) ---
  • Basement Rockwell, Shangri-La and Eastwood
  • Emphasis Rockwell
  • Essensuals Megamall, Trinoma and 6750
  • Henri Calayag
  • Studio 546
  • TIGI Main Office at Onyx Road, Pasig
