Max’s All-You-Can™ is back!

When I hear the name Max’s Restaurant, I always have good memories.  Every weekend, we would stroll at SM Sta. Mesa with my parents and dine at Max’s Restaurant because my dad loves the Fried Chicken so much we had to choose that place to make his tummy happy and contented.  I remembered saying: “No more chicken for me!” And ended up trying out their various dishes which I turn to really love!  I mean why are they called Max’s Fried Chicken when you can also call Max’s Fresh Lumpia, Fried Lumpia, Bulalo and so much more?

And if like me, you prefer to try out different dishes per visit, this is a perfect time as Max’s All-You-Can Weekends is back!

Classic Max’s favorites available in ONE plate!

If like me, you have a kid/child and you are not comfortable to dine out, you don’t have to worry as you can always order A-La-Carte with my all-time favorites!

How To Amp Up Your Ponytail Hairstyle

I have been living in ponytail or bun for almost a year now.  My hair is growing longer and I try my best to make it stay away from my face especially if I am outside.  Less chances for contact with other people - the better.

With that, I combined my love for hairstyling and hair accessories and came up with this very simple ponytail style anyone can do!

You can add more hair ties or lessen it depending on the length of your hair!  No hairspray needed, you get really nice hairstyle that reminded me of Princess Jasmine.

How do you like this look?

Do you have other hairstyles for ponytail in mind?

Maintaining Dewy Skin Minus the Grease

Finally! Finally!  I am so excited to share I finally found a way NOT to set a foundation to make it stay Glowing minus the oily feel and look!

Are you as excited as I am?

I am super excited considering I have dry, sallow skin.  I always like the Korean Glowing Skin that I see on K-Drama but living in a humid country like the Philippines prevents me to look like a star!

Make Up For Ever Reboot Foundation and Light Velvet Air Review

Let me revisit one of my favorite daily foundation from the brand called Make Up For Ever Reboot Foundation.  Ultra HD is my absolute favorite if I have to attend photoshoots, events or special occasions, but for daily, I find Ultra HD to be too “formal” for me so I prefer something with lesser coverage and more GLOW.  That’s were Reboot comes in!

Steamed Baguio Pechay Rolls Recipe

Dear AMW Friends,

It is Sunday...I always think more about food on weekends.  I’m not sure why, though I tend to rest more when it comes to cooking on weekends but I guess Sunday especially reminded me so much of family gatherings (Pre-COVID days) and we usually get together and bond over food.

After wanting to try Baguio Pechay Rolls for so long, I finally decided to go with it with a “Bahala Na” attitude.  I worry mostly for the fact that I can make a mistake and I’m feeding not just myself but a family of 5!

My husband, my son and my neighbor in-laws!  They are very picky with the food they eat so I have to make sure I don’t go crazy with my trial and errors especially since I only have an hour to whip out this dish.

But I managed....I actually felt proud of this dish that’s why I’ve decided to share this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Pechay Wombok (can be cabbage)
  • Ground Pork
  • Light Soy Sauce
  • Oyster Sauce
  • Liquid Seasoning
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sugar
  • Onion and Garlic
  • Spring Onions/Leeks
  • Ginger
  • Cornstarch
  • Mushrooms
Feel free to follow the steps in this quick video.

Happy Sunday!

True Beauty K-Drama Lim Joo-Kyung Makeup Look

I don’t know about you but True Beauty has a certain charm to me!  I usually do not watch Kdramas that are ongoing!  I dislike the fact that I have to wait weekly to know what’s going to happen next!  Call me impatient - I am!  (When it comes to K-Drama!)

This one was an exception.  When I first watched some short clips on Facebook videos, I searched on the drama right away and watched Episodes 1-6 (the last was episode 6 for year 2020).  I knew the drama could be superficial to some but it has deeper roots.

At the age of 15 or 16, I suffered from hormonal imbalance and had really bad acne.  So bad I don’t have photos to prove because I disliked taking photos!  For an extrovert to turn introvert and hide from parties and gatherings, I relate to the charater Lim Joo-Kyung so much that I cry whenever she cries.

I was never bullied like her but I knew the sudden lack of confidence when you are at that young age of highschool student - ahhhh I even remembered talking to my crush and he was literally starting at my cheeks !  I just want the earth to swallow me!

True Beauty K-Drama Lim Ju-Kyung Makeup Look

Even when I turn back time, I probably won’t be able to do what Joo-Kyung did, I can’t wear makeup for the life of me!  Studying in a strict Catholic School, I’ll get kicked out faster than having a lovelife!  *laughs*

But now that I’m way older, I’ve decided to play with the makeup looks created by the character because I love how fresh and natural she looked even if the character was known to have put so much foundation!

P.S.  I never claim to look like Moon Ga Young the actress but I tried my best to recreate the makeup look of that particular photo! (Above)

How do you like it?

I would probably throw in a nice pair of lashes but since the character is a highscool student, I’ve decided to forego this step!

For this look, I’ve tried lightening up my brows and make it more subtle and natural looking since my original brows are WILD and thick!  I also use a bright eyeshadow color to mimic bright looking eyes and used pencil liner instead of liquid for subtle definition.  I also drew in some false lashes at the lower lashline because the actress has huge-looking eyes in this drama!

The most distinct feature of Joo-Kyung is her just-bitten lips!  She always use a nice shade of red at the center of her lips making her lips look youthful!  And lastly, I did not forget to highlight my skin and skipped concealer on my undereye area and created Aegyo-Sal (puffy undereye).  Koreans believe having fat deposits under the eyes represents youthfulness!
