Salo Lechon Belly Kitchen Review

Salo Lechon Belly Kitchen has been making a noise (good noise) at the cyberspace when people are posting videos and photos of their super sexy Lechon Belly!  Sexy because of the smooth shiny skin, the extra crunch whenever you cut, slice or pounce it.  Ahhhh who would’ve though these words will come from someone  NOT craving for Lechon Belly in the first place?

And with the pandemic, moms like me have been working extra hard in the kitchen to keep the family going.  I have been experimenting a lot in the kitchen so my boys won’t feel like they’re missing a lot in terms of restaurant food.

As much as I am proud of my cooking, I am very honest in saying I haven’t mastered the art of cooking Filipino dishes so I won’t fight for it.  I’ll just leave it to the experts and call it a SALObration!

Thankfully, SALO Lechon Belly Kitchen delivers and they deliver with topnotch service!  Everything were packed really well and presented so nicely I honestly felt anyone receiving such delivery would feel the love and care immediately.

A MUST order of course is their bestselling Lechon Belly!  Eventhough it was there for hours, the skin remains crunchy and meat is super tasty and tender!  The skin is not too thin or thick and the crunch was perfect!  I can honestly eat this even without sauce!

We even had some leftovers and just by reheating them at an oven, it tastes fresh as newly delivered!

Max’s All-You-Can™ is back!

When I hear the name Max’s Restaurant, I always have good memories.  Every weekend, we would stroll at SM Sta. Mesa with my parents and dine at Max’s Restaurant because my dad loves the Fried Chicken so much we had to choose that place to make his tummy happy and contented.  I remembered saying: “No more chicken for me!” And ended up trying out their various dishes which I turn to really love!  I mean why are they called Max’s Fried Chicken when you can also call Max’s Fresh Lumpia, Fried Lumpia, Bulalo and so much more?

And if like me, you prefer to try out different dishes per visit, this is a perfect time as Max’s All-You-Can Weekends is back!

Classic Max’s favorites available in ONE plate!

If like me, you have a kid/child and you are not comfortable to dine out, you don’t have to worry as you can always order A-La-Carte with my all-time favorites!

Weekend Food Trip at: Mesa

Every weekend, we go out to have fun as a family whether it is as simple as going to a mall or go to a park to play bubbles.

Recently, I've found myself craving for Filipino food!  It must be the dish that made me want to visit ANY Filipino restaurants in the Metro as long as may "GISING-GISING".

This came out as a surprise as I am not a fan of coconut milk dish.  But to answer what's on your mind - no I'm not pregnant.  #lol

But the Gising-Gising dish from Mesa earns thumbs up from me, the one I ate at San Lazaro branch is a bit spicier than other branches but overall, it was perfect!

Then of course, in every Filipino restaurant we have to include buttered scallops na din!  It's one of Mr. AMW's favorite dish too.

Weekend Food Trip at: Crisostomo

Whenever we have time in our hands and we are itching just to get out of the house, Nuvali Tagaytay is always our choice because...just because we're boring that way!  *hahaha*

Thanks to Mr. AMW he actually booked an overnight stay at my favorite hotel at the area called Seda Hotel.  It was for our post-anniversary celebration and this momma couldn't be happier!

And since we're boring that way, we also go to our favorite Filipino restaurant around the area called Crisostomo -- funny how we haven't tried dining at Crisostomo in Manila but thrice in Tagaytay!

Of course, we obviously went for the "usuals" too because when we're on vacation, our brains are in automatic shut-off so we'd rather go for what we usually order so no brain cells are wasted!

It was saltier than the last time we had this, it was perfect the first 2 times but with extra garlic rice, you don't have to worry at all!

Birthday Food Trip at: Nono's Comfort Food, Podium

I told you so many times that February is my favorite month because ---
1. Cool weather
2. Valentine's Day
3. Chinese New Year - most of the time, my brother would come home for family reunion.
4. My Birthday!

Well, the last part, I'm not that excited anymore, who's excited growing older?

But, what excites me is the fact that I get to celebrate so many times!  With friends, with both families (mine and Mr. AMW) and just US (the AMW Fam!)

My language of love will always be bonding over food (that explains why I'm not losing weight!)  And February definitely is a month of CELEBRATION!  (Can we play that song over here?)

Weekend Food Trip at: Concha's Garden Cafe

If you are a long time reader, you'll probably know by now that I am an extremely simple person!  My way of bonding with my family will always be in a restaurant because #FoodIsLife for us!  I love searching for new restaurants to try because my mom and dad have both worked so hard to raise us and it was only when we all graduated and started working when they started to dine out!

It was nearing New Year when I've decided to give the famous Concha's Garden Cafe a try.  We heard so many positive reviews from friends who travel all the way to Tagaytay just to have breakfast there.

Okay, it wasn't a breakfast with my family, it was actually a dinner, but nevertheless I wanted to get the feel of what's in store for us in this restaurant inspired by homemade cooking.

Firstly, reservation is highly recommended as the restaurant tends to be packed with both cars and people.  I gave them a call for a good spot since my dad is on a wheelchair and our wish was granted!  I have to commend the staffs for great service!

The only non-plated meal we had to order was Lengua and it didn't fail us!  Really yummy and I will go back to order this again because I'm craving as of writing.

Weekend Food Trip at: Pamana, Tagaytay

The long weekend is a perfect time for the family to bond and where's the nearest place to bond near the Metro?  Tagaytay!  Though I've been in this city gazillion times, it has always been a wonderful experience with the family (or even friends) bonding there!  Amidst the crazy traffic, our little boy (and us!)  had so much fun!

I've done some research on good Filipino Restaurants around the area and Pamana Restaurant  popped on my Google Search.  Did a bit of phone call and was told I can't do reservations during holidays, it's fine though as we arrived 2:00pm for late lunch and the place was not as jampacked anymore!

Note: Dine outside and you get the lovely view of Taal Volcano.

Weekend Food Trip at: Sarsa Kitchen + Bar

I had an event next door at Yoree last year when Mr. AMW and Kyle waited for me at the nearby restaurant called Sarsa Kitchen + Bar.  The moment I met up with them, Mr. AMW gushed about the yummy and best Chicken Inasal he tried!

Fast forward to months after when we've decided to take Kyle to BGC just to roam around and have fun, I told Mr. AMW I wanted to try the "Best Chicken Inasal" in town and of course, try out the rest of the dishes because I've read positive reviews online.
