Cathy Doll Speed White CC cream SPF50 PA+++ Review

I haven't reviewed CC Creams for so long!  I have stopped using them ever since Cushion Foundations became available and there are better powder foundations coming in the market.

Just when I almost bid goodbye to this wonderful base makeup that has been going around in the early 2010s, I am so happy to finally tried Cathy Doll's CC Cream once again.  The old ones are great but I find them to be a tad bit obvious at times especially with color.  I find some of them would turn out a bit too white or grayish on me.

This time, after testing the new Cathy Doll Speed White CC Cream SPF50 PA+++ in light Beige (Php499.00/USD10.00  (which I originally thought would be too light for me.)

Cathy Doll CC cream Review

Cathy Doll CC Cream says ---
Illuminate and even out your complexion with the latest formula of this CC cream that features CHROMABRIGHT, skin whitening agents that act more effective than Vitamin C and Kojic Acid to deliver brightening and flawless look to the skin. It also protects against sunlight with SPF50 PA+++ while keeping the face oil-free and ultra-natural for all day long with Water Drop innovation, the cream will turn into hydrating mineral water droplets form to enhance makeup longevity. Additionally, it also blended with nourishing Hyaluron and gentle combination of Rosemary and Chamomile to soothe irritation while strengthening and reducing inflammation and dullness with Arbutin and Licorice for radiant and natural-looking glow.

Here's a visual view on how the Light Beige shade looks like on my left face (Facing you)

Cathy Doll CC cream Review

One thing I noticed is how natural the effect is and it is quite buildable.  Please do not come back to me saying you can still see my eye bags or can still see some spots on my face as CC Creams aren't there to conceal your skin imperfections but instead these are COLOR CORRECTING base making my skin appears more even and "bright".

With the term bright, I definitely saw how bright my skin appears.  I also like the fact that it has SPF 50 but it does not give me the white cast as the old ones I've tried.

Here's a visual without the arrow, you can't even see much difference and can't tell I have CC Cream on.

Avon True Color Power Essence Color Correcting Cushion Review

Avon has been around for so many years, I guess I was used to seeing them in their usual makeup line - basic blush colors, wide range of lipsticks, an array of base makeup, great colors of eyeshadow that fits Filipinas.

Then K-Beauty Collection came along!  Will this brand do well?

For me, the best way to know is to review their base makeup!  If you managed to create a really good base for K-Beauty look - you'll do well on the rest of the collection (that's just me!)

The first product from this collection I tested is the Avon True Color Power Essence Color Correcting Cushion (Php799.00).

Skin care and color correction for instantly improved, radiant skin.
Infused with Power Essence for instantly improved skin texture.

As opposed to most cushion compacts you know, the similarity of the "thick compact" ends there.  This one has a "pan" and you only need to "press" it down and product will come out.  I prefer this type of packaging as it keeps the product fresh and clean beneath while you can control the amount of product to be dispensed.

There are a total of 3 shades - Light, Nude and Shell

Nude and Shell would work well on most Filipinas with Light Medium to Medium Dark complexion.  It was a close fight between Nude and Shell but I picked the latter because it has warmer undertone.  That said, if you have cooler complexion go for Nude.

IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC Cream SPF50+ Review

I've heard so many great reviews about IT Cosmetics from my favorite international Beauty Bloggers ad Vloggers.  As much as I wanted to give them a try, it wasn't locally available (such a bummer)!  Thankfully, one of my favorite online beauty shopping site SEPHORA PH is carrying IT Cosmetics and I was able to give this a test right away!

The weather for the past few weeks was perfect to test out base makeup products.  It is very cool in the morning and extremely hot and sunny by lunch time onwards.

If you wonder how unnatural most base makeup look on you, take a look at this photo as I am wearing NOTHING except clothes *laughs* and IT Cosmetis CC+ cream!  (Mind you, in very thin layer!)

How do you like it?

Lioele Cosmetic Dollish Cera-V CC Review

By this time, you probably get used to the fact that Lioele products aren't housed in a girly pink/pearl packaging like what we're used to!  A total change in look and packaging as they are more premium and professional-looking judging by the packaging.

After reviewing several Lioele products, mostly positive reviews, I have the Dollish Cera-V to talk about and it took me a while to write a blog post because I really can't decide whether this product is a hit or miss!

Help me out will you?  I'll talk about it more after the jump!

At this stage, you probably knew the difference between a BB and CC cream.  If not, well, to cut it short, BB (short for Blemish Balm) has more coveage while CC (Color Correct) is lighter in terms of coverage and has added brightening properties (mostly).

And this particular one from Lioele is no exception, with added ceramides, ceramides is a component that is deeply moisturizing to the skin thus it will keep skin looking hydrated, soft and dewy throughout usage.

Lancôme UV Expert CCCover Review

You know how you wish sometimes your favorite SPF (which you heavily invest on) can give you the coverage you need too?

Well, in that case, I've finally found the product under the name of Lancôme UV Expert CCCover.  They invented an innovative sun care range (yes, this product is under the sun care range) to combat the seven environmental factors of the "Exposome" (visible light that leads to skin pigmentation), to help restore our complexion's rosy glow!

I am too excited for words because my make up routine is cut shorter when I use the Lancôme UV Expert XL-ShieldTM CCCover SPF50 PA+++.

a photo of Lancôme UV Expert XL-ShieldTM CCCover SPF50 PA+++.

There's a new term I mentioned in this post that I feel I had to share to you guys after constant research.  What is "Blue Light"?

New studies confirm that the blue light contained in visible light has a pigment-inducing potential. This high-energy light penetrates more deeply and intensely into the skin than UVB rays, passing through the entire epidermis and dermis.
Secondly, the effects of blue light were compared to UVB exposure. Subjects were exposed to blue light at an intensity of 87.5 J/cm², the equivalent of three hours’ exposure at the height of summer. It was thus demonstrated that blue light causes more intense pigmentation than UVB. This pigmentation is also more long-lasting, as it can persist for up to three months after exposure.
Blue light is therefore indisputably a factor to be taken into account in the fight against skin hyperpigmentation phenomena.

AMW Reviews: QuickFX CC Cream

I knew about the brand QuickFX last year when I was searching for "What's New" at Watsons.  You won't miss them because of the cute sachet packaging!  I find this to be a perfect "travel companion" because I could never carry full-sized skin care products when I travel.

I've read so many raves about No-Shine Mattifier and I don't mind testing out Pimple Eraser (surprisingly, I am having breakouts more often now than before!)

But what really gave got my attention really was their newest CC Cream!

AMW Reviews: Tony Moly Goat Milk Pure CC SPF30 PA++

So the quest for the perfect CC cream for me continues!  Most CC Creams are hydrating and brightening so I'm happy to announce most of the CC cream brands I've tried works for me!  Some may be better in terms of color correcting like this one from Tony Moly!

The Tony Moly Goat Milk Pure CC comes with SPF30 PA++ and what excites me is the fact that it contain Goat Milk which is known to be good for our skin!

The Tony Moly CC Cream comes in 2 shades -
01 Pure Milk and 02 Beige Milk
For review, I got the Pure Milk variant

AMW Reviews: Artistry Ideal Radiance Illuminating CC Cream

You know how I am when it comes to anything that brings out "radiance".  I test them out almost immediately!  Whether it's a BB cream, CC Cream or even a Skincare line!

Same goes with the new Artistry Ideal Radiance tube that I got a few months ago.  Now what is Radiance and what is Ideal Radiance?
Will answer that later!

So the ultimate test is here!  This was launched around April of this year!  This product, like most CC creams work as skincare and makeup in one!

Looking at the printed side of the packaging, it must be made in Korea to have Korean wordings.

Olay Total Effects Available at SampleRoom!

When Sample Room have new samples available in their website, I can't help but have this tiny butterflies inside my stomach!  Yes, I receive a lot of press samples every now and then but seriously, knowing consumers can really "try before they buy" is a totally different story!  I am really a proud Sample Room Partner because of that!

Recently, they launched Olay Total Effects products on their site!  Here is one thing I have to say about trying out products!  I mentioned this to my co-Beauty Blogger friends in the past and I still stand by to my decision --- Olay Total Effects Day Cream does not work for me 10 years ago so I am not giving this a try!  Funny thing though was that same 10 years ago, I purchased Olay Facial Masks from Hong Kong and they worked like magic on me!  It must be the age, the weather, etc!!!  BUT, keep in mind that if a certain product does not work for me doesn't mean it will be the same for you!  Like I said in my past posts, skincare is indeed very personal!  You have to try out samples or take a plunge before you know which brand works for you or not!

Upon receiving my samples, I immediately thought of my sister!  (Yes, I have an older sister who looks like my age! -- love you sis!)  I may be forgetful but I totally recalled our old text message about how she loved Olay Total Effects because it works for her!  She actually purchased and repurchased this a couple of times so I'm definitely going to be a Santa Clause and share these goodies to her!

  • Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizing Toner
  • Olay Total Effects Day Cream
  • Olay Total Effects Anti-ageing Night Cream
  • Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizing CC Cream in Light and Medium
What Olay Total Effects promises are the following:

Unboxing: January/February BDJ Box

I got my January/February BDJ box last week and to be honest, I am SO excited to try most of the items included in the box but I have to hold off myself as I've been too busy with a lot of things!  The AMW family moving out is happening this February so can you just imagine how crazy our schedule is?

Aside from the super full box, they also included a box of Garnier Color Naturals Cream Nourishing Permanent Hair Colour in Darkest Brown (Php199.00/approx $4.60) and I will hand this over to my mom as I just had highlights done for my hair (thanks Matrix Philippines!)

Now what's inside the BDJBox?

AMW Reviews: Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream

A year ago, when I was discussing BB creams with my friends, I remembered mentioning to them that a CC cream is coming up and the first brand (that I know) who made it was from Chanel!  I even joked about the possible apperaance of Double D creams (referring to bra's cup size).  Now that CC creams are out and available in the market, I guess it's not a joking matter anymore!  CC creams are also called Complexion-Correcting Creams!  What's the difference between a BB and CC cream?  I guess CC creams have "correcting" properties like that of correcting concealers.

As I was browsing through my favorite Glamour Magazine, I chanced upon a Clinique ad for their CC cream and I "instagrammed" it immediately as judging by the name, this CC cream is meant for me!  You know how much I love the Moisture Surge line so an additional Moisture Surge product is a huge Christmas Gift for my dehydrated skin!
