Clean Concealing Tips

“Your skin looks good!”

“You look blooming!”

Are just some of the kind words I get or compliments when I post a photo of me or video of me on Instagram.  I am extremely grateful fo those kind words but I will always stay true to who I am ever since I started this Blog year 2008.

IT IS MAKEUP!  I don’t use filters (I only use Photo editors for Cropping and brightening) but I use Makeup as my “filter”.

You probably know that if you watch my random IG stories where I would randomly show up sans makeup so my eyebags and redness show up in Hi-Def cameras!

How to conceal without the heavy makeup feel.

And the best way to apply makeup as most books and beauty experts would say: “Less is More!”.

I agree and disagree on that statement.  Less is more on some areas of your face but concealing may need a bit more than usual if you need heavier coverage.

This, maybe just a first layer of concealing, you can go 2nd or 3rd layer AS NEEDED and NO, it won’t look unnatural as long as you picked th right shade.

Did you know that Obvious makeup can be seen if you picked a wrong tone or shade of makeup?  Now you know!

How to conceal without the heavy makeup feel.

So if you are a long time reader and maybe attended a few of my makeup workshops, I’ve mentioned this so many times, you won’t overdo makeup application if you pick the right tone and shade.  That is the secret of most Korean and Japanese makeup artist that is why they look like their skin is perfect but in reality, they also have pores and lines because they are HUMAN!

So I will stop blabbing and share a quick video on how to conceal.

Keep this in mind:

More is good on areas that needed the most coverage and Less Is More on areas that needed light coverage.

Confused?

Don’t worry, you’ll see what I’m trying to say in this video!

Get that Fresh Look!

Concealing for a very busy mom like me --- IS LIFE!
I used to laugh at my sister for using too much concealer and finishing up tubes after tubes.  Then I turned into a mom myself, I now understand where she is coming from.

Gone are the days I can literally wake up and just apply press powder all over face and leave the house!  Hindi na talaga possible!

But thankfully, with the great concealing technology from various makeup brands, I can have 3-4 hours of sleep and have people tell me: "Ang fresh mo!" (You Look Fresh!)

Aaminin ko na, it is really just the power of CONCEALING!  (and smiling!)

My favorite type of undereye concealer will always be the liquid type, the ones housed in a tube with doe-foot applicator because I find them very easy to work with.  I also like the consistency on how I can easily blend them without looking like I have loads of makeup on.

Thankfully, there are more brands coming up with this type of concealer that gives enough coverage!  1-2 layers are enough!

Thanks to Althea, I was able to try the SAEM Cover Perfection Tip Concealer.

How To Spot Conceal Pimples/Redness

How could I almost forget I had a huge zit on my chin?
Teenage hormones you know! *flips hair*
Seriously, I had this huge zit on my chin for more than a week now!  When I decided to make a good use of it, it went smaller yet multiplied into 2!  How in the world that happen?

So trying to keep things positive, I may as well make a good use of this "zit" and bumpy redness to help others who are going through the same dilemma!  Oh yes, the reason why it shrunk was because of my constant use of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil (my ultimate savior!)

Just in case you forgot, I made a first photo-torial on how to spot conceal several years ago (Link Here)  And I'm sharing my version 2.0!  A better way in my opinion!

If you are a BB cream, CC Cream or foundation wearer, feel free to apply the product on your face as you usually do!  If you are just a powder foundation user, you may start this step immediately.

How To Fake Flawless, Glowing Skin + My favorite Makeup Look

Hi AMW Friends!  Tomorrow, I'll be turning 36!  Eeek!
So my makeup style nowadays has been centered on faking healthy, flawless and glowing skin!  Because in real life (without makeup), my skin is dull and lifeless from lack of sleep!  I have also been posting "selfies" whenever I attend events with my favorite makeup style!  And some of you dear readers were asking for a tutorial for that specific favorite makeup look of mine! (thank you!)

This is a Photo-torial post so please bear with me!  Don't get tired seeing my face okay :D

My current favorite Glowing Skin, Flawless Face and Natural makeup to make me look *ahem* younger.

Step 1: Brows
This step may be in the middle or last, depending on your preference, I prefer to do my brows first!  In this tutorial, I used Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Brow Powder.

Colour Collection Perfect Cover Cream Concealer Review

The Colour Collection Perfect Cover Cream Concealer is THE BOMB!!!

Housed in 5g tiny pot, I nearly gave this away because at first few uses (using my fingers like most concealers on pot), the concealer just doesn't work for me!  I find it didn't hide ANYTHING because of it's light coverage!

How To: Cream Contour and Highlight using Pro 15 Color Corrector Palette

Just when I was about to go out, thankfully, the ever loyal Photographer of mine Mr. AMW was available to take a photo of me doing a complete Contour and Highlight using cream concealers.  Now before you go: "Cream what?  WHY?"  well, the effect is really nice and it isn't as hard as it looks/sound!

P.S. In this photo-torial, I used Pro 15 Color Corrector Palette from Pro Studio Beauty!  The quality is amazing, you get most of the shades you need for both concealing and correcting.  The best part?  This palette is inexpensive (Priced less than Php600.00 for the whole palette)!  (Available at Glambox Beauty Studio Unit 2C Valuepoint Building, 227 Salcedo St. Legaspi Makati, you may call 09158342023)

And no, you won't look like a Drag Queen...and I got proofs!

Cover Girl + Olay Concealer Balm (Medium) Review

Covergirl, ah, the brand that brought me back to so much memories!  Some would say Maybelilne or L'Oreal, but for me, it was Covergirl that started it all!  (Thanks to the friendly SA years ago at SM Sta. Mesa branch)

Now I have to admit, I haven't tried any of their concealers and I never even thought they have one!  Not until when I ran out of my favorite "stick concealer" from Revlon, I was on the lookout for a similar "lipstick" type of concealer and found this!

Benefit Perk Up Artist Custom Complexion Correctors Review

Do you need to hide those redness and under eye circles and need some boost on your complexion but  too lazy to reach out for 3 products in the morning?  Well, I'm glad to share that Benefit came up with Perk Up Artist!  The first time I saw the product, I couldn't put my finger on what this product was until I opened the lid!  Come on, you tell me, without reading the description, would you know what this product does??? :P

(Photo below) I have this wild imagination of a portable jukebox playing 1950's song as soon as I open the lid *laughs*  Okay, since he's holding a brush, he COULD be an artist, a painter...or a crazy guy right at the corner of our neighborhood! :P

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit Review

I haven't been a "concealer-user" lately, most of my concealers are inside my make-up kit for clients! Its not that I consider myself perfect but you probably read from my previous makeup looks and posts that I prefer to use my foundation as a concealer!  This is just one of the many "money saving" tips I can share base on experience!

Unfortunately, in this world, there's a lot of Butts *ahem* I mean...BUTS out there *lol*, what if you suffer from really dark under eye circles?  What if you need more coverage that a regular foundation can't give?

That's where concealers come in, most of the usual concealer issues are ---
  • It creases and settles into fine lines.
  • It looks more obvious that I have dark undereye circles each time I use one.
  • My eyes look puffy!
  • It shows up on photos!
Let me share to you a concealer review and several concealer application tips as you read on! :)  Hope this helps!

Tip for the Day: All About Concealers

3rd series on Starting Out Your Makeup Collection. Thanks for being excited! I am quite happy to do this series as well!

Concealers

The purpose of the concealers are to cover blemishes or facial imperfections. They're also there to offset the natural shadow that occurs under our eyes. And recently, I've learned in class that concealers can also be used to highlight and contour. Yes, that's the power of concealers.

That's how important concealers are and that gives us the pressure to choose the right one, right?

There's no easy answer on which concealer is the best! As we all know different varieties of concealers are there to cater different individuals with different needs.

So which one do you need to include them in your collection?
