CoverGirl + Olay Simply Ageless 3-in-1 Liquid Foundation Review

To tell you that CoverGirl + Olay collaboration is new to me will be a lie because I knew about ALL CoverGirl products like the back of my hand for more than a decade now!  I did mentioned in the past that one drugstore brand I really got acquainted with even years before I turned into a blogger was CoverGirl.  Blame my favorite 90s model Niki Taylor for that!  (Niki Taylor is a nineties model together with sister Krissy Taylor are both Cover Girl models, Krissy by the way died in rare heart condition #DamiKongAlam)

But fast forward to today, whenever I see new items from the said brand brought me back to so many good makeup memories!  I remembered saving every single centavo of my "summer work money" and allowances to purchase my favorite Cover Girl item!

Back to reality, as soon as I got the new Cover Girl + Olay Simply Ageless 3-in-1 Liquid Foundation, I gave it a test right away and will share my thoughts on this product which I think is a nice daily liquid foundation especially for those who are in their late 20s and above!

What I Found at #SMWorldOfBeauty

I remembered preparing for my Engagement Day (which is almost like preparing for a Wedding day).  I've decided to cut down cost by doing my own makeup and with that in mind, I've decided to go to a Beauty Store to purchase my own set of makeup.  That was year 2007 (same year I started my Blog).
There wasn't much brand choices back then.

Fast forward to a decade, I am so happy how SM Beauty changed the way we beauty enthusiasts shop!  I can finally say, I have STOPPED online shopping for more than a year now because there are so many holy grail products I can literally see, touch and try at SM Beauty!

Do you like Asian makeup?
Brands like K-Palette, 4U2, Shiseido, Tony Moly, Etude House, Kate Tokyo, Holika Holika, Canmake Tokyo made its' way to our shores!  Here are just some of my picks.

Everyday Eyeshadow Palette from Cover Girl Bold Shadow Quad

Considering I'm a professional make up artist, you would think I have all the expensive shadows in my vanity table to be used daily right?

WRONG!

All the expensive brands are in my professional KIT and I am quite simple with my daily makeup look!  So I always go for inexpensive (yet effective) drugstore brands!  And I recently found a good one from CoverGirl Full Bloom Collection!

My default daytime look for the past weeks!

a photo of Cover Girl Bold Eyeshadow Quads

All thanks to CoverGirl Go For The Golds, it is easy for me to create that look in no time!  Let's say, 3 minutes max for both eyes without liner and mascara?  Good enough for a busy girl!

Cover Girl Ready, Set Gorgeous Base Makeup Review

If there's one drugstore brand that gives me the warm fuzzy feeling, it is Cover Girl!  I believe I've shared to you my Cover Girl "tambay" story a couple of blog posts ago!  Yes, I was a Cover Girl SM Sta. Mesa branch tambay way back and I've purchased a lot of Cover Girl make up using my hard-earned salary from the Airlines a decade and a half ago!  So seeing this brand coming up with new and better collection excites me!  I felt proud for the brand because I used to memorize all their products...and now, I can't keep track!

Jinkie, Brand Manager of Cover Girl, is also a good friend because we hit it off after I've done a project with them during the BDJ fair!  I missed the Bloggers' Event of Ready Set Gorgeous but she was kind enough to bring the set for me to try when we met up for coffee!

I've used all 3 on my previous Photo-torial on Office Ready makeup and after months, I'm finally ready to share my thoughts on each product.

And yes, I used drugstore makeup for Office Ready makeup because I can still remember how I started with drugstore makeup!  I may own a lot of makeup now from different brands for professional use but I still go back to using drugstore brands personally because some are really good!  Why would I pay for if I can get the same good quality at fraction of the price?

The Ready Set Gorgeous includes ---
  • Fresh Complexion Oil-Free Foundation
  • Oil-Free Concealer
  • Fresh Complexion Oil-Free Powder Foundation

Let's start with the Fresh Complexion Oil Free Foundation.  I got shade 105 (Classic Ivory)
Thankfully, this foundation is housed in my favorite foundation packaging of all time!  A simple tube where I can easily squeeze out the right amount of product I need!

Top 3 Dual Purpose Blush to Try for Fair, Medium and Dark Skin!

Hi guys! I am still under the weather, cough and colds but I won't let the day pass without sharing to you my top 3 picks!  The 3 blush that works as a blush and contour powder and I featured these 3 because these would work on Fair, Medium and Dark skin tone!

And best of all?  They're drugstore brands!  Well, only 2 brands to be exact because I am playing favorites with one brand, particularly this line --- the CoverGirl InstantCheekbones line!  They should be known to the world!

L-R CoverGirl InstantCheekbones Sophisticated Sable, Revlon Highlighting Palette in Bronze Glow and
CoverGirl InstantCheekbones Purely Plum
Let's start with subtle and romantic blush-tour-lighting (okay, this will be my term for now!  To Blush, Contour and Highlight!).  This shade is perfect for fair to medium skin.

How To: Office/Interview Ready MakeUp Using Drugstore Brands

Good morning!  Check out my ID-looking photo!  #LOL
You can't help but give a hand to this girl who tried EVERYTHING to look like a fresh graduate right?  Come on!  I deserve a round of applause ha!

Well, after years of blogging, I realized, I did not create a post specifically for our Office (hard)Workers or Job Interviewees!   Just so you know, I'm working in an HR Field for almost a decade now!  So I do have a bit of idea on the "look" most of our bosses would want for their employees.

Keep in mind that this How To: Office/Interview Ready makeup Tutorial isn't meant to be "a must do" or "you must fellow this or else" type of tutorial.  This is just one of the MANY looks I've had in mind just in case you are wondering what time of make up you should sport during an interview or on your first day of work!  If you love this photo-torial, feel free to give me a big warm hug and I'll share more tips and ideas on Office and Job interview makeup okay?

Seriously, I can pass as a college graduate naman di ba?  (hell yah!  LATE college graduate! hahaha)
A photo of Office/Interview Ready MakeUp Using Drugstore Brands

By the way, since this could possibly be a fresh graduate looking for a job makeup, I made sure to pick all drugstore makeup!  They are inexpensive yet they deliver!  I wouldn't mind using all these products professionally!

How To: Simple Make Up For Glass Wearers

It's Photo-torial day!
So one reader, obviously a glass-wearer, requested for a tutorial on simple makeup for girls like her who want to look good but have the specks that could cover half of the face!

I am not a glass-wearer, so I rummaged through my eyeglasses drawer and found one from Fly Shades!  #Lucky

Here's how smart I look with glasses on!
So what is my version of a simple makeup for glass wearers like you and ME? (for this post only)

Cover Girl Professional Brow & Eye Makers In Soft Brown Review

How does it feel like to leave the house with unfixed brows?  I feel helpless!
To all makeup enthusiasts out there, I'm sure you understand why fixing your brows is very important for that "complete" made-up face!

I have been a long time brow mascara and brow powder user!  When it comes to pencil, I have always been a fan of Korean brands because they are inexpensive and they deliver!

Recently, I chanced upon a CoverGirl Brow & Eye Makers!  Seriously, I haven't been going out that much to know they have brow pencils!  Do you know they have pencils?

As always, I pick a lighter shade because I can easily adjust the shade of my brows by following up with brow powder.

Shade: Soft Brown

How To: My Birthday Look

Hi AMW Friends!  Before the 28th!  I changed my Facebook Profile picture and actually posed for my Birthday Look with my Birthday Makeup!

Here it is!  The first photo using a toned down lip color for day time while the right side is obviously meant for Party!  YAY!

If you are interested, I've finally created a photo-torial for this look!

Step 1: Foundation
Since I wanted a dewy finish, I chose a hydrating foundation from L'Oreal called L'Oreal Lucent Magique Light-Infusing Foundation in shade N7 blending using my damp Nippon Pro Blend Sponge.

Cover Girl + Olay Concealer Balm (Medium) Review

Covergirl, ah, the brand that brought me back to so much memories!  Some would say Maybelilne or L'Oreal, but for me, it was Covergirl that started it all!  (Thanks to the friendly SA years ago at SM Sta. Mesa branch)

Now I have to admit, I haven't tried any of their concealers and I never even thought they have one!  Not until when I ran out of my favorite "stick concealer" from Revlon, I was on the lookout for a similar "lipstick" type of concealer and found this!

Top 5 Highly Moisturizing Lippies that Last!

Happy Start of the Week!
Let's talk about lipsticks.  I own a full box of those but let me tell you, there are only a few ones that stays on my dresser table.  And there are more than 5 for sure, but I picked my top 5 favorites.

A bit of background about my lips!  Well, there are no introductions needed, I've always been vocal on my lip issues. Yes, you don't need to tell me that my lips look extremely dry, because they are EXTREMELY DRY on photos, and in real life!  That is why I am probably the best person to ask on what are the best moisturizing/hydrating lipsticks out there.

I Wonder: Which Cover Girl Mascara Do You Like Most?

Okay, I maybe an Energizer Bunny but when it comes to mascaras, I'm one hell of a "cute" turtle!  :P

Blame me for watching too much BabyTV!  I have nothing more to watch but Elephants, Monkeys, Rabbits, Turtles, etc...!

So yeah, I'm such a turtle so I need help!  I was sent 4 wonderful Cover Girl Mascaras a month ago and I can't decide which one to use first!

In case you wonder, here are the 4 variants ---
L-R LashBlast Volume, Clump Crusher, LashBlast Fusion and LashBlast Length

Obviously LashBlast Volume is meant to be used if you prefer to create more volume for your thin and sparse lashes (me!)  I realized I used this mascara so many times in my old FOTDs and Makeup tutorials I didn't even create a decent review!

Tip for the Day: Foundation

I have been asked by many...through Cbox, email, twitter, or even in person on what's the best foundation for them.  I am very honest when I say..."It Depends..."

It depends on your skin type, skin condition and it really depends on YOU.  So what's the point of making my top picks?  To serve as a basis, but of course, this post will always be open for further comments and suggestions!  I am just a beauty blogger and a makeup artist, I am in no way an expert in guessing the best foundation for each individual so please try on testers, ask a favor from a friend who owns ton of makeup then try the products before you start spending your hard earn money on them!

Keep in mind that I haven't tried all foundation mentioned below, some are highly recommended by my makeup artist friends! :)  It doesn't hurt to share then you pay me back with cash. *winks* :P

For Dry Skin
The best person to ask if you have dry skin aside from oldies?  ME!  *laughs*  Just joking, I'm sure a lot of youngsters (aside from myself hahaha) suffers from this skin condition either "They were born with it" or they were under skin treatment which led them to have dry, flaky skin!   Here are some of my best bet for dry skin individual after we *high five*! :)

SPEND
Clinique Supermoisture Makeup
I have used this way back when I wasn't even blogging!  This gives out the "moisture" any person would want and I  have a couple of friends who have dry skin and swore by this.

MAC Mineralize Satinfinish SPF15 Foundation
Thanks to Sis Gracie for sending me this so I was able to try this.  The good thing about MAC Mineralized Satinfinish foundation is the fact that it never feels heavy but it gives a nice, healthy sheen after every application!

SAVE
Revlon Age Defying Makeup with DNA Advantage
I recently road tested this and it worked on my skin and never felt dry and it gives me the moisture I need for the whole day!

Cover Girl Advanced Radiance
One of the first few drugstore foundation I purchased when I told myself I need to stack up on makeup for school!  This one has the added moisturizer and the name says it all "Advanced Radiance".  Anything with Radiance would be great to create a fake, healthy looking skin.

Mary Kay Timewise Luminous Wear Foundation
I have tried this on both mature clients and myself.  Since my skin isn't that dry as compared to mature clients, I like the fact that this product never settled into fine lines.  The effect came out really well.

For Oily Skin
I am used to doing makeup for oily skin as most of my clients surprisingly suffers from oily skin!  Keep in mind that if you have very oily skin, on oil-control primer will still be needed prior to foundation application at the same time, a good oil-control setting powder would help prolong the "matte-looking" finish of your skin!  It doesn't hurt to carry oil-control blotter sheets with you at all times!
SPEND
Make Up Forever Mat Velvet
I have once chatted with a fellow makeup artist and when I asked about her best bet foundation for Oily Skin, she blurted out Make Up For Ever's Mat Velvet.  I was told this foundation does not only give a matte-looking finish foundation but it does help control a bit of the oilies.  I will probably purchase this once I'm done with my current foundations.

MAC StudioFix Foundation (Liquid)
Ah, need I say more?  I've seen these Studio Fix Liquid foundation been used on various makeup artists and you have to agree when I say, most of our makeup-loving friends own at least one of these!  The downside though, not all skin would agree with the ingredients of MAC SF Foundation.  I have friends who love this product dearly but it causes their skin to break out the day after usage!

OCC / Graftobian Airbrush Foundation
You don't need to go out and purchase an airbrush equipment but the tiny tube of airbrush foundation are great for oily skin!

MAC StudioFix Foundation (powder)
Since oily skin individuals are "in dire" need to set their foundation, a powder foundation with oil control is best and MAC SF Powder Foundation gives extra coverage and removes shine!

SAVE
Revlon ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex
This is the drugstore version of MAC Studio Fix Liquid Foundation (in my very humble opinion).  Even the scent is similar and it gives a good coverage and can hold up to humidity.

Maybelline Mineral Powder Foundation
Most inexpensive oil-control loose mineral foundation that works!

Mary Kay Timewise Matte Wear Foundation
I surprisingly reach out to this eventhough I have dry/combination skin.  I like the super matte finish it gives with an extra glow!
For Normal Skin or
Combination Skin
Normal skin individuals are lucky as they get the liberty to try different brands and types of foundation as most of them would work for normal skin. I also included the list for combination skin as most the brands listed below can also be used for Combination skin.  It helps to use an oil-control primer applied only on areas that oil up and leave the rest as is.

SPEND
RMK Creamy Foundation
Oh my! Need to say more?  Kindly read how I gush about the product HERE

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation
this also suits combination skin!  Perfect on photos!

Clinique Superbalanced Makeup
This make up is known to give moisture on areas that needed one and control oilies on areas that oils up!  Smart makeup I should say!

SAVE
Avon Ideal Shade Foundation
Inexpensive and it works on all skin type!  I put this on Combination skin's Save portion because I can use this liquid foundation on both my dry-skinned days and the not-so-dry to normal skin days!

Graftobian Hi-Def Creme Foundation
Though this comes in tiny amount of product for the price, I still call this inexpensive as a little goes a long way with this cream foundation.  I have used this on both  normal and combination skin and the effect was consistently good!

Products listed above came out from the moment I've written this post.  The list is not complete and I'm opening the "comment section" for everyone to share their list base on their experience!  In that way, it will be helpful to everyone reading this entry!

Today, I am off for 2 makeup gigs and I have more faces to prettify and it helps to share what I learn as each experience go!  There's no 100% way to know which type or brand of foundation is right for you unless you went out there and give the product a test.  I am not requiring you to spend your money to buy different foundation from here and there, but, let us try on testers, borrow from friends, do some research!  At the end of the day, no one knows your skin better than yourself! :)

So, start sharing your favorite foundation brands and which skin type would it work best for!
Goodluck!
Happy Hunting!

Askmewhats Version: "Safe" Neutral Look

Are you off for an important meeting?
Going for a first date?
Meeting the 'rents?

Those are the moments you would like to sport a very nice neutral eye makeup that does not take a lot of time! You want to look great but not too made up! I've always tried on different colors for eye makeup but if an occasion calls for a natural prim and proper look, there's always one look that comes into my mind! Of course it's neutral. But I call it my "safe" neutral.

A "safe" neutral is a neutral look that you know it's fool proof and mistakes free! You've been doing this look forever and you get compliments each time you create this look.

So, what's my "safe" kind of neutral? You'll know as you read on!

Here's my final eye shot!

Askmewhats' Diagram

Step 1:

Prior to eye makeup application, I applied a layer of MAC Soft Ochre Paintpot.
Using any flat shader brush, pat on Joppa Pearl eyeshadow on the inner center of the lid as shown on diagram.

Step 2:

Apply brown eyeshadow, in my case, I am using STAGE e/s from the So Loverly girls. Lightly swipe it on the outer crease to create a depth.

Step 3:

Highlight with Bonjour Rose Beige e/s

Step 4:

Line the upper lashline with MM Cocoa Gel Liner using my Ecotools Eyeliner brush.

Tightline with Urban Decay 24/7 Bourbon eyeliner, line the waterline as well and use Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Ye-Yo on the inner corner of the eyes to make the eyes pop.

I added natural falsies, curl my lashes and added 2 coats of mascara!

Voila!
Natural looking eyes
that pops! :)

If you girls have the time, show me your version of a safe neutral! Neutrals are neutrals but I'm sure there's one neutral look that's safe to sport anytime of the day! I think I know the reason why I love this look! My mom always compliment me if I sport this eye makeup! Coming from my mom! Who loves her daughter free of makeup! It's a HUGE compliment! LOL

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Askmewhats Version: "Darling!, It's Another Black" Look

Black looks dirty...

Black looks dirty-not...

You know what? I don't care! I just want to use this new quad that I got from a dear friend Tine! (Thanks Tine). This is my first Rimmel London e/s palette! I've created yet ANOTHER smokey black look with a bit of twist. If I only use the quad, it looks a li'l bit blah on me so I added something to make it... ahmm... 3 dimensional! LOL So take a scroll down to a smokey black lane and see what I've used to give this look a bit of "oommph"

Final look

Askmewhats Diagram

Step 1:

Apply MAC Beige-ing Shadestick all over lids. Pat on the Silver Grey color all over lids using Dual Tip e/s applicator.

Step 2:

This is the "different part" I've done, I've used Fasion 21 Stick Eyeshadow in Lagoon and spread it on the crease area going a bit above. Pat on gently with fingers to spread evenly. Apply the darkest shade from the Rimmel London quad using the sponge tip applicator.

Step 3:

Using Yumeko's Styling e/s (thanks girl) , apply the shimmery white shadow on the browbone area going to the inner corner of the eye.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

You can now blend everything using a blending brush
Re-apply specific colors if needed

Step 4:

Apply Coastal Scents gel liner in True Black using White Angled Liner brush (I am starting to love this brush I swear!)

Step 5:

Apply Fashion 21's Lagoon Stick e/s on the lower lash line, apply Urban Decay's ZERO and Yeyo on waterline

Apply your preferred mascara
making sure to curl your lashes

(I need to change my Shu pad soon!)

Final Look

Oh yeah!
I used MAC's Coquette e/s

to fill in my brows

And what did I use for the rest of my face?

For the Face

Primed my face with P&J Face Primer
Joppa Medium Light no 2 Foundation
Top with MAC's Mineralized Skinfinish in Light

For the Cheeks

Contoured with
MAC's Grand Duo Light over Dark

using a Fan brush

P&J Disney blush (thanks Hedley)

For the Lips

Kiehl's No. 1 Lip Balm
Ellana Lip Color in Romance

In person, it honestly doesn't look plain black

It has a bit of color that you can't pinpoint!

Why am I explaining so much? LOL
*I can't be on trial, I sound guilty!*
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Smile your troubles away!
I want to thank everyone for the
sweet comments and emails!
I do appreciate each and every one of them!
Warms my heart and it's nice to know people
because of our love for beauty...
both in and out!
*group hugs*
