NEW! Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser

I have always been very consistent with my claim of my favorite drugstore concealer - fast forward to decades later, it has always been the Maybelline Age Rewind.  

Today, you will see the similar "Sponge Type" packaging but with the name Instant Age Rewind Eraser!

I got Shades 120 (top) and 122 (bottom) for review

Shade 120 : Has Pink Undertone so has more brightening effect especially on warm tone skin users (see how it magically erases my bags?)

Shade 122 :  Has more yellow undertone so works as undereye bags corrector but none of the brightening effect.

I personally felt the formulation changed through the years, I felt the old one is more hydrating while this newer version caters the younger, oily/combination skin market.  That doesn't mean I can't use it though, I still use this daily but I felt like I need to use an eye cream beneath it just to make sure it won't crease.  I wish they retained their formulation to keep this name appropriate - AGE REWIND.  I find this drugstore concealer to be the perfect one for mature skin and I felt sad they gave this up to the younger crowd.  I could be wrong but I felt even the oily skin users can appreciate this more -- which is great news especially since they are trying to adapt to our humid weather.

Let's start by wearing each of the 5 shades I got because I like you to see how these will look on an NC20 MAC Foundation shade, mostly Light Beige in other foundation with warm undertone.

I always start ascending shade numbers and if they don't have numbers, I go for the lightest shades first and starting with Meditator.

Meditator is a cool-tone light peach that works for those with darker complexion.  Imagine just how gorgeous this will look with no-makeup on Morena skin!  Grabe, your skin will glow even further!  This is also a nice MLBB shades for those with lightly colored lips.  

As you can see, it doesn't do justice on me as I need to have at least a defined-looking eye makeup to pull off this look.  Imagine thick eyeliner, maybe, soft smoky eyes with colored cheeks?  Definitely Workable but not my cup of tea.

Since we are on the topic of MLBB shades or something that looks quite natural and easy-to-wear even with not much makeup on.  De-Stresser is definitely the answer.

Maybelline SuperStay Vinyl Mood and Eccentric

 

How does one show their mood without speaking?
Through makeup of course!  But the most obvious mood maker would be lipstick --- and easiest!  

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink until this very moment, for me, is still the QUEEN of  Long-wearing Lipstick!  They have released so many collaborations after my first review but I personally think they are all the same --- change of packaging, same shades and formulation.

I have seen a couple more collabs that I didn't get my hands on but like I said, it wasn't that of a choice for me since my lips are extremely dry and those types of formulations just won't work for me.

Recently, Maybelline came up with their SuperStay VINYL Lipsticks and I think these works better for me.  NOT THE BEST but way better than SuperStay Mattes.

I got my hands on 2 shades.

Mood and Eccentric

These lipsticks are said to be budge-proof, comfortable-feel, high shine and lasts up to 16 hours.  I don't know about 16 hours *Spoiler Alert* as I didn't get to try them this long but max for me was around 6-8 hours so keep that in mind in my review up next.

I kind of did that but in video format!  I have been doing make-up for so long - since Highschool to be esact.  Not on myself but as a make up artist on school plays and summer theatre programs.  

I have experienced many challenges during those gigs and here I am sharing my years of knowledge --- call me SENSEI :P  

Yes holding these supposedly "Trash" because they either do not work for me because of a wrong shade, or maybe, I hit the pan on them.

Favorite Drugstore Concealer

 

So I was asked about my favorite Drugstore Concealer.

It took a while for me to finally give an answer because there are so many good ones nowadays.  But one thing for sure, I will share a pick that really works because it took me that much of time and effort to think of the answer :P

I did an in depth review on this concealer year 2017 and I still use it occasionally - that says a lot because I usually just finish up a particular concealer for review, but this one is a different story.

Some may complain that this does not work on them, that it "slides off", well, it will, if not set properly  All concealers should be set with a powder foundation or mattifying powder to prevent it from sliding.  It is also very important to prepare the undereye area by using eye creams before working with makeup!

Here's a quick video on how I use the Age Rewind concealer.  For this particular video, used the limited edition Marvel packaging but the product itself is the same as the non-Marvel packaging!

Sparkly Eyes Makeup Look

 

A quick make up look and I added a tip on how to clean up those fallouts.  After years of being a Bridal Makeup Artist, I mastered the art of “cleaning” because in the eyes of Professional Photographers and Videographers, the skin of their subject must be 99.9% perfect.  

You know why I said so?  I have been called so many times by photograhers and videographers to “clean up” the face of their subject - it could be a smudged eyeliner, lipstick or falling eyeshadow!

So here, I am sharing a quick tip on how to prevent dirty-looking eyes.

I missed you guys!  I have een super busy with my son’s quizzes and home projects so I only get to update on my social media accounts - shameless plug ahead, follow me on Instagram and Facebook !

So anyways, I recently tried Maybelline newest Colorsensational Cushion Matte Lip Tints and these are amazing!  Maybelline always nailed their lip shades so I don’t even have to comment much on that - they just nail all the shades we want and works for us!  

I remembered talking to their previous Brand Manager and I was told they really take time to do a study on the shades that would work for Filipinas thus these or some of the shades were actually made for the Philippine market.  

All 5 shades are unique and beautiful in their own way, TBH, you don’t need all 5, there are quite a number of similar shades (a.k.a. First 3 and the last 2 is also close )  I said CLOSE, not same.  

The Devil Wears Red

My favorite red of them all!  A true blue tone red that would make my teeth look whiter, I apologize in advance for not smiling with teeth - I forgot! Hahaha but hey, trust my words for it!  It is so beautiful I can wear this alone without much makeup on and people would think I took an effort!

What's not to like about this shampoo? It cleans hair gently with a menthol fresh feeling and leaves it moisturized.  This is my husband’s ultimate favorite and I have been purchasing and repurchasing this for years!  As of the moment, I have back up bottles of around 10!

Maybelline New Fit Me Review

 

Maybelline gets my thumbs up on their lip products, mascaras and foundations.  They could be inexpensive but I always recommend this brand especially to girls who are just fresh out of college and are on a budget while looking for a job.

There’s one thing I find a bit mind boggling with the brand though!  They revamp and improve their products so fast I can’t seem to keep up —- well, I CAN, but I can’t keep up in a way that there are some great products I don’t want to let go of and they just poof and disappear!  —- HELLO MAYBELLINE MASCARAS!!!!  

So back to this story, if you love the old FIT ME Powder foundation, well, this could be a great news for you (if you ended up loving this), they did some changes and call this NEW FIT ME with 2x Powder Power!  

I will give it to Maybelline for the super nice packaging, very classy and sleek and not the cheap plastic type!  I love the colors used - it just screams CLASSY and nice.

The Maybelline New Fit Me is honestly NOT my kind of product because for the fact that I have combination NORMAL/DRY skin.  This product is meant for oily skin because of the Oil Control properties so I am not doing a detailed review about this product since I won’t be using these as much as I like to.  

Priced at Php249.00 available at SHOPEE. There are a total of 8 shades available locally but when I took a look at their online selling site, there were only 2 shades left - Warm Nude and Soft Tan.

The shades are a bit darker and more apt for most Filipinas to be honest.  Their lightest shade Natural Ivory is 1 shade lighter than Classic Ivory (on swatch below).  So if you are super fair, you may not find the right shade for you.  Considering I am using a BEIGE person in most Maybelline products, Natural Beige turned a bit dark on me (swatch located at jaw area) and I turned out to be the shade of 2nd to the lightest which is CLASSIC IVORY as you can see below.

But here’s what I like about Maybelline’s New Fit Me, it has better coverage.  It does not only serve as an oil control powder, it gives a decent coverage as seen on my before and after photo below. 

Maybelline x ITZY Supermattes by Colorsensational (Swatches + Review)

 

How in the world I managed to swatch all 10 shades of lipsticks in one go?

Beats me!

I get surprised myself!  But thankfully, it wasn’t hard with the new Maybelline X ITZY Supermattes By Colorsensational.  In swatch made me go OOOHHH and AHHHH.  Maybelline, you never fail to create wonderful shades apt for Filipinas!  I just can’t get enough of these!

The TIU Household has been on a KPOP craze for almost 2 years now and we have been playing non stop music including ITZY songs for their catchy beat!  So it wasn’t a surprise when this girl group that debuted 2019 called ITZY is the newest global spokesmodel!  Members are Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong and Yuna!  They are the first K-pop stars to represent Maybelline and first music group to ever do so!

I am way past KPOP star era but that does not mean I can’t enjoy the benefits of it!  Are you ready for 10 shades from this collection?

Before you say anything, I am sure they have their own names but all I see on my tubes are numbers (I got a PR KIT for this but please note all opinions and reviews are MINE.)

Maybelline Cheek Heat Review

 

So we all know by now how Maybelline delivers in terms of creating good quality makeup, with shades perfect for Filipinas/Asian Skin at an affordable price.  

Maybelline Cheek Heat is dubbed Best Cream Blush of 2020 in the Allure Best of Beauty Awards as seen on their international web page.  There are 6 shades to choose from in this collection while locally, correct me if I am wrong, there are a total of 4 shades (1 missing in this post which is shade Lilac).

Cheek Heat is a water-based gel cream with colorful pigments that create a buildable, natural looking blush. Check out how 3 shades look on me in a glance.

Housed in a tube colored similarly as the cheek color itself, the tube felt lightweight and it must be the gel formulation that made me feel like there wasn’t any product inside!  Thankfully, I was wrong! 

With just a few squeeze you’ll get a product oozing out instantly and I tried swatching half a pea size and true enough, I get instant color without the need for adding more!

Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Rise to the Top is my New Fave

I am very vocal with my admiration on Maybelline as a drugstore brand.  If I would talk to a newly enrolled Nikki at a Make Up School, I’d tell her to go for Maybelline!   You don’t need to spend a lot to practice on your Make Up artistry, you can practice without breaking a bank.

The longest wearing lipstick to date is the Maybelle Super Stay Matte Ink, but honestly speaking, my dry lips can’t wear them for long!  My lips are extremely dry and it cracks for a living *lol*. So as much as I love all the shades they just can’t be worn on a daily basis.

Thankfully, I was able to try the Super Stay Ink Crayon (Php299.00) and I got the prettiest shade under the Summer Spiced Collected called Rise to the Top. 

Don’t you just LOVE the color and finish?

Housed in a twistable “crayon-like” pacakging.  I find this to be very convenient and easy-to-use.  With the sharpened tip, I can wasily line my outer lips creating a more defined line making this a very pretty Lip Shape.  I never appreciated the fullness of my lips until today.

Swatch: Rise to the Top

A gorgeous warm reddish orange color.  This works for almost ALL Filipinas because it can give a nice warm to the overall look without the need for putting on makeup.

Maybelline FIT ME Foundation Swatches and Thoughts

 

If you ask me what my favorite Maybelline Foundation is, the anwer is quite easy, it’s the Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage Foundation!  But whenever I ask my Beauty Blogger peers, they always go for Fit Me!  Why?  Because most of them have oily skin and they love the Oil-Control.  

I, on the other hand, have normal and a bit of dry complexion (on bad days!)  though the Fit Me Foundation surprisingly works for me, I would still go for SuperStay for the wonderful coverage and more dewy finish!

When it comes to shade choices, kudos to local Maybelline for having a good variety of shades that would fit most Filipinas!  I separated the shades to Light, Medium and Dark.

112, 120 and 125 for Light 

128, 220 and 222 for Medium

228, 230 and 310 for Dark

As for any foundation, since these are liquid, it is easy to mix 2 shades to create a perfect shade for you.  If you can find a single shade that works well on you - lucky you!

Your Thoughts on Marvel x Maybelline?

 

I don't know about you but Maybelline, particularly the SuperStay Matte Ink does not need to do anything for marketing because the products speak for themselves.  

They aren't the best for people with dry lips like I do but they are the best for these times (mask-wearing season) because these are long-wearing, long lasting lipsticks that I haven't even found a competitor close to these!  (Let me know if you've found one!)

Long-time AMW friends would know my ultimate love for Coffee.

Coffee, if I may be superficial for now, is one of the reasons why I am excited to wake up in the morning!  I always look forward for a good cup of coffee to jumpstart my day.

Long-Lasting Gradient Lips Tutorial

 

 At some point in our  makeup application, we have tried gradient lips after seeing how gorgeous they look on K-Drama actresses.

I am definitely one of those!  But after going through various application techniques, I can't seem to create a similar one like those on K-Dramas!  Mine would look great after application but blotchy after an hour or so!  It is because I have extremely dry lips and I ended up licking my lips or lot or applying lip balm in between multiple times making my gradient lipstick effect slide down the drain!

 After several tries, I finally created one that lasts longer, looks good and non-blotchy and I can finally say, long-lasting!

 

You don't need to use the same products I used but the same layering of products could be the same!

Finally, after constantly getting DM's on my IG page on how to apply eyeliner the easiest way, I created a quick and easy-to-follow video tutorial that would help you apply eyeliner quickly.  This is the fail-proof trick because I've been teaching this to a lot of my clients!  This works, you only need to keep on practicing and NOT give up!

Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Gel Liner Review

It's been a while, I started Blogging with my love for GEL Liners, in fact, I reviewed so many gel liners I can't keep track how many in total!  All I know is that, I've always been a fan of these brands when it comes to gel liners ---

Yes, mostly on the pricier range.  Because gel liners are tricky, they could really make OR break a look and I don't want to even TRY to use other brands especially on my clients.
