Cathy Doll Speed White CC cream SPF50 PA+++ Review

 

I haven't reviewed CC Creams for so long!  I have stopped using them ever since Cushion Foundations became available and there are better powder foundations coming in the market. 

Just when I almost bid goodbye to this wonderful base makeup that has been going around in the early 2010s, I am so happy to finally tried Cathy Doll's CC Cream once again.  The old ones are great but I find them to be a tad bit obvious at times especially with color.  I find some of them would turn out a bit too white or grayish on me.

This time, after testing the new Cathy Doll Speed White CC Cream SPF50 PA+++ in light Beige (Php499.00/USD10.00  (which I originally thought would be too light for me.)

Cathy Doll CC Cream says ---

Illuminate and even out your complexion with the latest formula of this CC cream that features CHROMABRIGHT, skin whitening agents that act more effective than Vitamin C and Kojic Acid to deliver brightening and flawless look to the skin. One thing I noticed is how natural the effect is and it is quite buildable.  Please do not come back to me saying you can still see my eye bags or can still see some spots on my face as CC Creams aren't there to conceal your skin imperfections but instead these are COLOR CORRECTING base making my skin appears more even and "bright".

With the term bright, I definitely saw how bright my skin appears.  I also like the fact that it has SPF 50 but it does not give me the white cast as the old ones I've tried.

Here's a visual without the arrow, you can't even see much difference and can't tell I have CC Cream on.

Wearable Strawberry Makeup Look

It has been going round the beauty community a cute look that focuses on the cheeks.  A beautiful flushed cheeks and bright lips I name it Strawberry Makeup since I am a fan of Strawberry Shortcake and I remember putting her blush and lip color when I was younger.

Here's my wearable version any age can rock!

For this look, I focus on a super clean base so the blush and lip color will pop.  I used a neutral shade for eye makeup and made sure to highlight my cheeks.

Sparkly Eyes Makeup Look

 

A quick make up look and I added a tip on how to clean up those fallouts.  After years of being a Bridal Makeup Artist, I mastered the art of “cleaning” because in the eyes of Professional Photographers and Videographers, the skin of their subject must be 99.9% perfect.  

You know why I said so?  I have been called so many times by photograhers and videographers to “clean up” the face of their subject - it could be a smudged eyeliner, lipstick or falling eyeshadow!

So here, I am sharing a quick tip on how to prevent dirty-looking eyes.

Easy Gradient Lips Tutorial

 

A hack!

Yes a hack! After doing gradient lips for so many times, I’ve finally found an easier and less distracting way to create one!  For someone with dry lips, the dark part or red part always look weird with an obvious demarcation mark!  And look!  I don’t have it now! 

Exactly a year ago (still during lockdown), I shared an easy, long-lasting gradient lips tutorial HERE.

Most of us do the following steps:  Apply a nude lip color first all over lipsand a dark red lip color at the center.  Yes, it works if your lips are plump and hydrated.  For lips like mine who tends to be dry and flaky, the effect won’t be as cute and healthy-looking!

The secret is the ORDER of application.  We always love to apply the neutral colored lipstick first and dab the “tint” or dark lipstick at the center of your lips.  It is still a good way if your lips are hydrated and really nice to begin with.  As for those who aren’t as blessed on the lips department (me!). Let’s do this trick for once and tell me how it goes okay?

I’ve done this trick so many times and I love the effect more than my previous tutorials!

Happy Monday!

Bringing you a big smile to start the week!  It was a restful (uhm. Not so) weekend!  I was busy watching random Korean Variety shows until wee hours of the night!  Ahhh the joy of motherhood!  You find solace at night when your kid is sleeping!  Hahaha Can anyone relate?

02 Peach Kiss

This is really peach and would appear bright if you have light colored lips!  My lips are originall pigmented so it turned out a bit deep!  I prefer to use this as base if I want gradient lips, I can wear this on its’ own and I like the youthful vibe it gives.

Butter inspired Makeup Look

I have been listening to it ever since it was played on BTS Official Channel.  

For fun I recently got a package from Secondate Beauty and decided to create a BUTTER-inspired makeup using the Secondate Beauty Instapeach Eyeshadow Palette.  

So I ended up with this look! What do you think?

I also got some safety merch from KORMNL.  The face mask container is the bomb! I super love it and it comes with yellow-colored masks!  I mean the colors aren’t important more importantly, I am protected...but let’s face it the color does matter in brightening up my day!  

I also have a cute heart-shaped yellow alcohol container!  Been using it ever since I received this!

4 Brow Shapes and Shades = 4 New Looks

 

As a make up artist, I have worked with so many types of brows!  I even worked for a client who does not have ANY brows at all leaving my imagination to create new set of brows for her!  A lot of times, my client would always say something about their brows.  They would leave my imagination on Eyeshadow, blush and lip color but they really have a thing for sticking to what they were used to! 

So this post, is a post of recommendation - I HIGHLY recommend you to work with different types of brows because it really can change up your overall look, vibe and feelings!  There are times people say I look young, I look cuter, I look fresh or mature?  Well, I have to thank (and no thank LOL) my brows for it.

Here’s an overview on how different brow shapes and shades can change your overall vibe.  CAN YOU SEE WHAT I AM TRYING TO DO HERE?

Straight, thin Brows 

Shade: 02 Dark Brown

My peg for this particular look are Kpop idols and K-stars!  My brows are naturally bushy, dark and long so I had a hard time trying to conceal the rest of my brows but this was the closest so far.  The effect is very kind, timid and shy.  I would say this type of brows would work well if you have thin and sparse brows to start with so filling in with a brow pencil won’t make such drastic change to your look.

Bushy Brows ala Brooke Shields

Shade: 01 Soft Gray

This is a bit too much for me since I used a darker brow shade.  The shade Soft Gray would work well on users with medium to dark complexion with dark colored hair!  I find this to be youthful and perfect for teenagers who have brows all over the place and don’t know what to do with it.  

Here’s a tip:  Just fill in blank spots with a brow pencil similarly colored as your natural brow hair with a short hair-like strokes.  The effect will be natural - I promise you.

Arched Brows

Shade: 03 Light Chocolate

This is my least favorite brows since my features are quite uhm...how do I say it, FLAT? Hahahah. Okay, I was trying to say is, my facial features are not distinct like that of a Western look.  And my natural brow shape isn’t arched at all so forcing it to be arched looks a bit unnatural but for the sake of demonstration, I want you to see how having arched and very defined brows can change my look to be more mature, more professional and powerful?  

Sometimes I would wear this type of brows when I attend meetings and also, I do this type of brows when I was doing makeup professionally because back then, I look so young that mothers and lolas of the bride and groom does not give me the time of the day!  They won’t even listen to my suggestions and would complain every step of my application.  Yeah...Professional MUA job isn’t easy ok?

So yes, authority?  CHECK! 

Power? CHECK!

Confidence? CHECK!  On the outside but burning on the inside LOL!

Naturally YOU Brows

Shade: 07 Chestnut Brown

This brow shape I also call the “You Do You Brows”.  For clients who ever have their brows drawn, I would use a light colored eyebrow pencil and just define what they have.  I may fill in sparse areas but only with lighthand strokes.  I would never go above or beyond whatever brow shape they have because I don’t want to shock them and make them hate brow products forever!

So this, is my natural brow shape and I actually LOVE it the most!

When will you stop creating cute and nice products?  I guess you won’t huh?

I guess the brand is somewhat important to me because I hosted their grand launch in the Philippines years ago and I was able to visit Karmart Office in Bangkok, Thailand.

No bias here, I am still a product tester/Beauty Blogger so I will still share my honest to goodness reaction to their products.  But seriously, this is one drugstore brand that I highly recommend because their products are packaged well and quality is really good for the price you pay.

I was able to try their newest blush called NUDE MATTE BLUSHER and you can see in this collage that they look really nice huh?  Or was it just me? Hahaha

I haven’t worn much red lipsticks the whole 2020.  The previous year felt gloomy with the outbreak of COVID-19 plus mask wearing.  

Face mask is still a requirement but I felt a bit more optimistic this year so I welcome reds!  And I am glad Cathy Doll has comfortable reds, so comfortable to wear even for girls with DEHYDRATED lips!  Yes, you got me - this one works even if you have dry lips!

Instant Glass Skin Using Western and Asian Skincare

 

So I have been wondering which particular type of products would yield Glass Skin instantly.  You know how you wanted your makeup to look like that of a Korean-Drama superstar?

I tried using 2 types of products - Asian and Western on half of my face to see if I can achieve same results.  As I wanted to prove to you (and me) that you don't need to use all Korean skincare products just to look like a Korean Actress, we may actually use the skincare products we are currently using, or purchase products that are within our budget to create the same results.

Please note that the products I used are products I currently own, you don't have to use the exact same products I mentioned on video, feel free to use what you have and see if we can achieve similar results!

Cathy Doll x Hello Kitty Collection (Full Review, Photos, Swatches and Video!)

Hi AMW Friends!

This will be the longest, most detailed review and photos I've done in so many months!  I mean not because I am not taking the other posts seriously, because this is a HUGE collection I can't help but be particular about each item. (And editing the photos and writing and checking shade names took me 2 FULL hours minus the hours of swatching on both arms and face!)

After posting about this on my Instagram, a lot of you commented how you would want me to put up a swatchfest PLUS detailed review.

Cathy Doll x Hello Kitty Oil Control Blur Pact

This is a translucent powder pact, meaning, there's no color and is meant to work as an oil control powder for the face!  I find this product to be like any translucent pact you see in Korean brands.  It does a good job controlling oil, so good that my skin turns dry because I already have dry skin!  Don't get me wrong, if you have oily skin, you'll love this product, it just won't work for my skin type instead, I love to use this product to set my lipstick because it is "mask season" and this helps any lipsticks from transferring from my lips to my face mask!

Makeup for Video Conference #AMWIGtv

As much as I would like to be the first one to say: "Just be who you are!"  "You don't need to put on makeup when you have a video call or conference calls with colleagues or boss, they would understand you!"

Well, they would, but let's not forget to still put our best face forward whenever we make video calls!  Same as to what I always believe in, making sure you look good before you face a person means they get the respect they deserve.  Correct me if I'm wrong, some of you may disagree (feel free to comment below), but I believe looking good is not only done to impress other people, but it also made me feel more powerful and confident whenever I face clients or bosses online!

This makeup look I've created is simple and easy to do, I can easily create this look in 10 minutes less and you may opt to create a different version depending on what you're comfortable in.  As for me, the basic requirements are -- Concealer and a bit of color on eyes, cheeks and lips so I feel more alive and can actually transmit energy to the person I am talking to! 

It doesn't hurt to grab a nice top, okay to wear pajamas below but please remember DO NOT STAND UP! :P

Unboxing and First Try: Cathy Doll Beauty To Go

End of February, I received the newest products from Cathy Doll called Beauty To Go, which consists of mini versions of important makeup items - eyebrow pencils, eyeliner, lip and cheek color!  These are honestly enough to look at least made-up if you are on-the-go!

Cathy Doll Power On L-Glutathione Ampoule Review

When Glutathione was really a craze years ago, I was just sitting at a corner of the "Beauty Room" sticking to my most normal skincare regimen --- my trustee facial wash and my trustee moisturizer which does not have any other added function except - to hydrate my skin.

Fast forward to today, when Glutathione "anything" is widely accept, I felt like a toddler, just starting out getting to know all about the benefits of Glutathione --- both for internal and external funcion.

If I receive such product, I'll probably throw it straight to my mom-in-law who's really not afraid to try out anything when it comes to skincare as she doesn't have sensitive skin like I do!  But after constant research, this product has been around since 2014 or even earlier!  

The Cathy Doll Power On L-Glutathione Ampoule isn't actually a new product but there was a bit of overhaul in terms of packaging and even Brand Logo!

After trying this out for 24 hours at the backside of my ear and arms, I gave it a go and applied it all over my face!

I haven't really use this for long because I own only a small bottle - too small I had a hard time looking for it in my dresser table BUT, small enough to work as a tester which is also good if you don't want to spend a lot for a full sized product you are unsure if it is effective enough!

For the brand, I am sure there are so many reasons why they packed this in such tiny ampoule bottle --- must retain freshness of the product probably?  I'll talk more about this soon as of now, enjoy the cuteness of the bottle!

Cathy Doll Ready 2 White with Elisse Joson

Cathy Doll Ready 2 White line has always been their bestselling product since the arrival in the Philippines 3 years ago.  I've heard so many great reviews about their White Boosting Cream and I love their Lightening Foam Cleanser myself!

"Why are Filipinos so addicted to whitening products?" - one of the press guest asked.

I personally think not everyone wanted to "whiten" or change our skin color, and I don't judge those who want to change their skin color.  I am very much into products that help "even out" my complexion at the same time give that bright, glow-from-within.

The launch was really energetic!  Not because I was the host (lol) but because it was filled with energy!  It started off with a K-Pop dance number from Ueno!  Then a fashion show came next with models featuring Ready 2 White products with their smooth, glowing skin!  And there was a bonus!  Elisse Joson came out on stage looking so beautiful and sang a song for her fans and audience.

Two years ago, Cathy Doll Philippines launched their Nude Matte Lipsticks which earned a lot of thumbs up from fellow Beauty Enthusiasts! 

Fast forward to today, I have always been wondering if the brand will come up with something exciting and new!

Guess what?  The comeback is perfect with their line called "Get Sweat"!
