SilkyGirl Matte Junkie Lip Creams Review

The first time I posted about my bunch of SilkyGirl Go Matte Lipcolor, I got so many comments on where to purchase and even got votes on their favorite shades.

Here's a good news friends, if you think you like the Go Matte Lipcolors, you'll love their newly launched Matte Junkie Lip Creams even more!  Well, I could be wrong but I know I love them MORE!

SilkyGirl, my friends, is a Malaysian brand and whenever I grab on any of the SilkyGirl products, I always think about my Beauty Blogging friends who live in Malaysia (hi #Evurl girls!)

So liquid matte products are definitely an "in" thing as of the moment and SilkyGirl came in right on time in creating their own line because they are inexpensive, comes with good variation of shades and are very opaque!

I got all 5 shades namely: 01 Retro, 02 Glamour, 03 Rebel, 04 Vintage and 05 Vixen

Housed in a very slim liquid matte lipstick tube packaging with a very decent doe-foot applicator.  You will not expect anything more because this is for me, the best packaging for any liquid matte lip products.

This kissproof and transfer resistant lipcolor applies like a liquid lipstick that dries to a matte finish. It stays on your lips through day and night activities requiring minimal touch-ups.

01 Retro
Retro is a nude lip color with a light brown tint.  I don't know about you but whenever I think Retro, I think about bright red or pink lipcolor, but I would probably call this simply --- Natural.  I like how natural the lip color look and it has an added warm tone to it making it a very forgiving lip color even for pale-skinned gals.

02 Glamour
Glamour shade has an added pink tone to it.  So I would call this a fresh-looking lip color.  It has a very cute and child-like vibe wearing this so I'm picking this as a pick-me-upper shade.

03 Rebel
Rebel is a mauve pink lip color that brighten up the whole face and teeth!  It has a bluish tint (thus the whiter teeth).  This shade I would call a nice color for younger girls.  Well, older gals like myself can still wear this but don't forget that huge playful smile!

04 Vintage
A peach undertone lip color close to 01 and 02.  Just think of this, 01 has more brownish tint, 02 has more pink while 04 is more peachy.  A color that medium to darker complexion girl can rock anytime of the day!  As for fair-skinned gals, you can still wear such but be careful and apply a bit more color on the rest of your face so as not to look sick.

05 Vixen
An orange red shade but has more red to it than orange, that makes me okay to wear such shade!

AMW says ---

  • Simple yet good packaging.
  • Very opaque.
  • Sets matte in no time!  So you have to work pretty fast.
  • Can settle into dry lip lines if you have extremely dry lips.
  • Long-lasting, mine stayed for more than 5 hours even with eating and drinking.
  • There are times my lips feel tight, always apply lip balm on top!  (You may try PeriPera Moist Lip Balm)
  • Good shade choices.
  • Affordable!  These are less than Php300.00 per piece.

Overall, these aren't the BEST in the market but I would say they are at par with the price range, it is affordable yet it works!  Most liquid matte lip creams are drying on my lips so I don't have much expectations on that, but I am glad they came up with something really nice, affordable and good shade variety.

  1. One thing I learn from torturing my lips from wearing matte lippie is religious exfoliation of my lips to keep it supple and applying excess eye cream to it every night.

    1. I agree, but even if I exfoliate a lot, my lips are uber dry talaga! Must be the genes :(
