AMW Reviews: LipIce Water Colour Lip Moisturizer

Happy Tuesday dearies!  Did you wake up with a good mood?
Today, I will be sharing a review on a lip product that I received as a gift from a friend who visited the country!  It was a spot on "gift" as I love lip products that are very moisturizing!

So thanks angel!  (You know who you are!)

LipIce says ---
  • Natural soft pink shades to enhance your natural beautiful lips.
  • Contains Super Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramide to provide long lasting moisture to the lips.
  • Enriched with Maxilip and Vitamin E.  An anti-oxidant that helps to reduce fine lines and keep lips supple.
  • Available in 4 pink shades
Net Wt: 3g
Ingredients: (click to enlarge)

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Very cute, lipstick-like packaging.
  • Very moisturizing.
  • Gives a natural yet gorgeous color.
  • Reduces lip lines.
  • Can be used on its own, without lip balm underneath.
Cons
  • Locally not available.
  • They could make more shades!
  • None of that "menthol" feel which I enjoy on most LipIce products.
Overall
One of my favorite lip moisturizer + lip color to date.

Tips

  • Local readers can try a similar concept lipstick + balm that is available locally called LipIce Color Balm.  Keep in mind that this one is slimmer and less moisturizing.
  • Keep in mind that whatever color that was shown on tube, it will always turn out differently on your lips as different individuals have varying lip pigmentation.  The color that shows on your friend's lip may not necessarily mean it will turn out similarly on yours.
  • Pick LipIce Water Colour Lip Moisturizer if you visit neighboring countries like China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc...
  • Bring the LipIce Water Colour Lip Moisturizer with you as re-application is needed to maintain moisture on lips.
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who likes to use both lip balm and lipstick!  This is a 2-in-1 product!

Where to purchase and how much?
Available at Watsons in neighboring countries.

Colors on Tube
L-R 03 Kissy Pink  , 02 Fantasy Pink
03 Kissy Pink looks like it can pass as a coral shade lip color but if both were applied on "my pigmented lips", I don't see much differences!  (photo proof below)

AMW Version: Fresh, Natural Look

Yay!  First AMW Version for the year 2011!  It has been taking me time to create tutorials lately because of the same reasons!  So before I go on blabbing, I've created a look perfect for office meetings or just regular day at work!  A fresh and natural look that spells "Prepared, Organized, Ready-to-face-the-day!".

This type of eye makeup I've done does not alter the shape of your eyes, there's no corrective styles done, instead, just played with neutral colors to give a well polished look!

AMW Diagram

Prior to eyeshadow application, I choose to brighten up the undereye area with The Body Shop's Lightening Touch.  You can choose to use your preferred eyeshadow base, in my case, since I don't have oily lids, I chose NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Yoghurt as an eyeshadow base!

Step 1:
In this tutorial, I am using all the colors of L'Oreal OpenEyesPro Palette in Beige Harmony.  Using a fluffy eye crease brush, I applied the lightest shade over the entire eyelid on top of my NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Yoghurt base.

Step 2:
Using a flat shader brush, apply the e/s (as pointed with the brush on photo below) onto the crease with a patting motion to create depth and dimension.

Step 3:
Using the same crease brush or even a smaller version of the brush, apply the pointy tip on the outer-V corner of the eyes!  Blend out harsh lines.
Step 4: (optional)
Since the L'Oreal OpenEyesPro palette is very shimmery and natural in person, I wanted to create more depth on the outer-v, in doing so, I am using MAC Mineral Eyeshadow Odd Bits (from MAC Colour Craft Collection). Adding more as  go on.

Do not forget to apply the same eyeshadow shade on the lower lashline.

Step 5:
Using the sponge applicator, I pat a bit of the gold shimmer on the inner 1/4 of the eye for that "wide awake" and "bright" look!

Step 6:
Apply ELF Cream Eyeliner in Black on the upper lash line.  You can choose to wing your eyeliner but I chose to make it  more natural.

Apply Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in 1L on the waterline.

Curl your lashes and apply coats of your favorite mascara.  I am using my favorite Etude House Proof 10 Henna Fix Mascara in Black.  Fill in your brows with your favorite brow powder or pencil.  I am using Tears Line and Mode Autobrow in 04.

Other products used on the rest of my face

For the Face:
Avon Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation in Nude
with HD Makeup Blender Sponge.
Avon Ideal Shade Loose Powder to set

For the Cheeks:
DiorBlush #839 Vintage Pink - using the brush that comes with the palette
Clinique Up-lighting Liquid Illuminator - applied using fingers on areas I want to highlight (bridge of the nose and cheekbones)

For the Lips:
Daiso PE-3 Lipstick  - though drying, I am seriously in love with this shade! So Unique!
LipIce Color Gloss in Summer Pink

Show your best smile and you're ready to face any day!

Note to self: "I will, try to do more AMW Version!"
Hope this helps!  I am sure there's a whole lot of better versions out there!
*sigh* Life is fun with so many choices!

Enjoy Thursday!  I can sniff Friday like a dog!

AMW Reviews: LipIce Sheer Color

Sending all love through air kisses to everyone!  It's Fri-Fri-Friday!  I have this tendency to give out air kisses and real kisses to good friends, clarification though, I don't go kissing everyone okay?  *hahaha*  A long time AMW reader would know how I complain about my dry skin and dry lips!  I once called my lips alligator lips!  Not sexy!  But through the years, I have been testing, investing on lip products and I get excited each time there's something new out there!

You'd probably remember how excited I was when I found Mentholatum LipIce brand to be available in our homeland.  I've tried the LipIce Fruity loads of time that's why I picked the most "unique" product out of my LipIce bunch to test.

The LipIce Sheer Color
For instantly Unique Pink Lips

Unique pink lips?  After looking at the photo below, you'll probably go "how?"
LipIce Sheer Color says ---
  • Goes on clear, then changes to a subtle pink that enhances the natural beauty of your lips.
  • Enhanced with Beeswax for extra moisturizing.
  • Enriched with natural ingredients of Shea Butter, Macadamia Nut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Ternifolia Nut Oil, and Aloe Vera Oil Extract to keep lips moisturized, smooth and healthy.
  • Contains effective anti-oxidant Vitamin E to help delay aging and protect from harmful UV rays.
  • Available in 2 variants: Strawberry and Fragrance-free.
AMW says ---
Pros
  • Nice dark pink packaging that doesn't look too girly nor too plain.
  • Easy remove cap and easy twist packaging.
  • Non-greasy.
  • Available in scented and non-scented which I find really amazing!  Not everyone like flavored lip products.
  • Glides on smoothly on lips no matter how dry your lips are.
  • Contains Vitamin E which prevent your lips from getting darker.
  • Works as lip balm and lip tint in one product.
  • Color comes out unique on each individual!  People can't tell what lipstick shade you're wearing or if you are wearing lipstick at all or you just have naturally gorgeous lips!
  • Very inexpensive.  As compared to our neighboring countries --- Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, etc..
  • The shade does not transfer much on your glass or mug!
  • Perfect for travel, no need to take a long gazillions of lip balms, lipsticks and lip glosses!
Cons
  • Not for people who are into matte lips!
  • If you are looking for that menthol feel, this doesn't have the tingling sensation.
  • Not recommended for people who are allergic to beeswax.
  • No SPF.
Overall
Very unique concept and product.  It doesn't hurt for everyone to own at least one of this because its perfect on relaxed days!  Days where you want to look very natural!

Tips
  • Store this in cool, dry place.
  • Always twist product back down before closing the cap to prevent smashing the Sheer Color.
  • Clean the tip of the lip balm especially the inner side of the tube as often as possible!
  • If you choose to use this alone, you can preprare your lips with a treatment balm a couple of minutes prior to the LipIce Sheer Color application.  Dab excess product and re-apply again for that longer lasting color!
  • Perfect for students who aren't allowed to wear makeup but wanted a tint especially if your orginal lip color is light!
  • Perfect to use on dates as well!  No yucky lipstick stain on glasses, coffee mugs or napkins!
  • Contains Beeswax, if you are allergic to this ingredients, be very careful!
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Although I've stressed enough on how good this product is for dry lips, this works well on any types of lips!  Anyone who's into soft, healthy lip color with a subtle shine!

Where to purchase and how much?
Locally at Watson's for Php145.00 (approx $3.35)

LipIce Sheer Color Applied on Hand, no base
Since my hand is lighter in color than my lips, the shade came up just a hint of shimmery pink

I got amazed how during lip balm removal, you can see the color coming off!

Applied on my upper lip only
You can see the difference on how it turned my lips a bit darker pink

A photo of my bare lips
(pardon my dry lips as I was wiping my lips off making sure there's no residue on my lips prior to Sheer Color application)

On times I need the extra color, I just apply my favorite shade of lipstick on top and I'm ready to go!  Lesser dryness!  Sexier pouts!

Have you tried anything as magical as this?  *laughs*
Sorry, I know this is old school but it's a first for me to try on clear balms that change its color!

Happy Friday!

Eureka Moment: LipIce now in Manila!

We all know that lips are one of the most noticeable and sexiest part of the body, if that's the case, I won't be called sexy in this lifetime because I have dry lips!  I've tested and 'kissed' so many lipbalms and I know there are a lot of great ones out there but there is something about lip products that I don't find myself regularly applying!  My bad!

When I wrote a post about "Lip Balms I've Kissed" almost 3 years ago, that was also the first time I get to know the brand Mentholatum and the lip balm called LipIce!

I love it so much that I went hunting for it during my trips.  Purchased a couple in Malaysia, bought back ups in Taiwan and hoarded in Hong Kong!  I even tried Sasa online shopping just to try out their other variants and so far, the brand does not fail me!

I can't believe my eyes when I saw the familiar packaging in Watson's!  YES!  Eureka Moment for me!  It's finally here!  And you know what's the bonus? --- The prices locally are cheaper!!!  Finally!!! Something is cheaper in our country as compared to our neighboring countries!!!

LipIce Fruity
Php89.00 (approx $2.00)

A color free lip balm that comes in a range of 5 delicious fruity flavors.  Strawberry, Apple, Lemon, Grape Blackcurrant and Orange Mandarin.  I've used the Lemon variant for the longest time and its high time I try other flavors, because.... I can't be boring!

LipIce Sheer Color
Php145.00 (approx $3.22)
This lip balm sparks my interest as I haven't seen this when I was shopping for my "backups".  This is unique because it looks clear, goes on clear, then changes into sheer pink or even dark pink depending on your lips!  I am actually using this at this very moment and mine...goes on....deep pink!  I love it!

LipIce Color Lipbalm
Php125.00 (approx $2.77)
Perfect for young girls or young-at-hearts *ahem*  This is the perfect for anyone who wants just a tinge of color for that polish look in a snap!  I am planning to use this on clients who are going for dark eye makeup!

LipIce Color Gloss
Php125.00 (approx $2.77)
This comes in a tube with an angled tip for ease of application.  It's a gloss that has a nice sparkle perfect to top on a "drying lipstick formulation".  If you want a natural, sexy pout, you can apply this on top of a clear balm! I tested one and I like using this on days I am opting for "dewy" makeup!  It gives a nice "clean" and "young" look!

Mentholatum Therapy Lip Gel
Php108.00 (approx $2.40)
Enriched with camphor- an ingredient used because of its healing properties for relief for chafed and chapped lips.  This is already part of my night routine!  Has this nice minty feel!

I have seen that they also offer lip balms suit for the men in our lives!  I am actually excited for Mr. AMW to give it a test!  For now....it's Eureka Moment!  So happy it's here!

A blogger friend told me the Mentholatum Sunblock works really well, and a li'l birdie told me they'll have it launched locally around March!  Accessible brands --- FTW! (For the Win!)

Oh, before I end this post, Mr. AMW used the Menthalatum Facial Wash for Men, which Brother AMW bought for him.  He actually finished 2 tubes, I wonder if they are bringing it down here as well?
