Askmewhats Reviews: WetStraight Pro Flat Iron

My hair isn't sleek straight but it's straight enough. Why do I need to iron? Well, I bought this because I cut other people's hair and I've found some would prefer to have a sleek straight hair rather than the normal blow-dried hair. I have searched for a good flat iron that I could invest in and easy to bring along. I have found the one.

JBL is actually a home tv shopping company in the US. I haven't checked if they do home tv shopping down here in the Philippines. But I saw all those hair demonstration inside the malls. I just gave in and asked them to do my hair.

I was amazed, I love the outcome! I asked a couple of questions, then I bought it!

** Php2,399.75 (approx $54.00) at SM Malls

WetStraightPro says ---

  • Ionic technology retains moisture, protects your hair and reduces frizz
  • Variable heat control 140, 160, 180, 200, 210 degree celcius
  • Use on towel dried hair
  • Titanium plates for fast results - heats in just 120 seconds
  • heats to salon temperature of 210 degree celcius
  • 2m salon length swivel power lead
Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • lightweight
  • heats easily
  • has temperature control so it won't get too harsh on my hair
  • does its job in straightening and it stays for the whole day, or until you wash your hair
  • the swivel cord definitely helps especially if you iron your own hair
Cons
  • I find it drying, so I suggest not to use this everyday
(well all heating tools are bad if used too frequently)

Overall

This is surprisingly a good product. I've originally wanted a ceramic flat iron, but I have seen a lot of branded irons that have ceramic but just "the exterior", and I was told that if you dropped the iron, the ceramic will break. I suggest to use a heat protective shampoo and conditioner like Thermasilk and do not apply any leave on conditioner as these have "oil" as part of the ingredients which can "burn" your hair. Use smoothening serum AFTER ironing.

Tip

Test on the temperature setting and see which temperature works best for you. Start with the lowest. I was advised by the salesman to use the highest setting, I did and it hurts my scalp and head. I tried from the bottom and at the end found out 180 degrees works fine for my hair!

Will I repurchase?

If this broke less than 3 yrs, I won't repurchase!

This is a photo of how a newly ironed hair looks like as done by the sales staff
(Don't worry, I don't normally have this kind of hair,
this is just too straight, I prefer a bit of wave!)

I'd love to invest in a good curling iron for now!
I want the big curling irons!
Are you into curling or straightening?
I am into BOTH!

Askmewhats Reviews: Thevi High Impact Lipstick in Sequin

**used without any lip balm or gloss

Thevi Says ---

High Impact Lipstick ($22.00)

Sensual lip color. Advanced formula lipstick with unique chroma-shine technology provides rich color intensity with a super glossy finish that's virtually weightless, yet won't wear off. Plus it's packed with Vitamins A, E and C for anti-oxidant protection and conditioning. In an array of gloriously colorful shades. Hypoallergenic.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • moisturizing
  • gives out glossy finish and you don't have the sticky feeling of a lip gloss
  • lovely packaging, sleek and modern
Cons
  • like any other lipstick, it doesn't last long

Overall

The Thevi High Impact lipstick is a great product with great selection of colors. They've got 8 shades for the time being and all the colors would look great on any skin color! What I love from their lipstick is the added vitamins (especially E) as my lips tend to darken as I use lipstick, so this will not only prettify my lips but it makes my lips healthier!

Will I repurchase?

Yes, it's not drying for a lipstick.

Are you a lipstick girl?

or a gloss girl?

Askmewhats Reviews: Thevi Dome Blush Brush

When I got my 28 pcs Suesh brush set and the Smashbox Brush Set I thought I wouldn't need another brush no more! That's why no matter what good reviewed brushes I've read, I have never gave in as I always thought I got enough!

One thing I've realized when you're doing make-up to other people (and I mean a lot at the same time), you can NEVER have enough brushes. Especially when you're in a hurry and you don't have time to clean your brushes in between, an extra brush or 2 really takes the stress out!

I am happy to have the chance to review a brush, especially a new brand, at least it's time that I give out information rather than me "leeching" for information from fellow bloggers! LOL (I invented Leech-ing...lol Webster dictionary, don't sue me)

Thevi Dome Blush Brush

This is how it looks like after "it" took a rough shower

This is how it looks like after it dries, and used for 1 week straight!

Thevi Says ---

Blush Brush $38.00

The best tools for the best results: Perfectly balanced, natural bristle brushes for the cheeks. The silky Blush Brush lays down smooth, seamless color.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • Smell - doesn't smell too bad, have a hint of "glue-y" smell, but that's just it
  • Feel - very very soft
  • Brush hair - as seen in the first photo, it was packed and firm
  • After washing - I washed it by being rough, washed this with JnJ baby shampoo, and there's no hair fall!
  • After it dries - it came back to it's original shape, no more glue-y smell
  • After several usage - it is fluffy but still firm! I found myself reaching for this every morning
Cons
  • again, this is quite expensive for a short handled brush
  • they only have 2 brushes, eyeshadow brush and the blush brush! (I have a feeling they will be making more in the future)

Overall

My review could be premature but I'll wash this often and will note down for any major changes. For now, I am impressed with their blush brush, it is firm yet soft, it packs on blush pigment and perfectly transfer it to my cheeks without any streaks!

Will I repurchase?

No, not the blush brush, maybe I'll give the eyeshadow brush a try! I have a feeling this will stay with me as I do take care of my brushes with TLC.

I am doomed!
I am lurking around ebay the past few days!

I am strong! I am strong!
I've survived not checking Cherry Culture, Strawberrynet, Sasa...
I will manage! I am strong *chants*
