Joppa Minerals Samples are Here!

Hey everyone! Remembered I posted on my blog as seen here about Joppa Minerals having a free first class shipping worldwide? Well, I grabbed the opportunity to try on their foundation samples as Mhean talks so fondly of them and I trust her when she says it works!

Actually I've had my shade ready on the "wishlist" and I am just waiting for the free shipping promo before I transfer it to BUY NOW! :P (Am I bright or am I super bright? lol)

I've checked Mhean's site and also Nessa's site as both of them have tried Joppa MMU foundation! After giving a lot of thought, I've decided to try on their 3pcs Mini Sampler starter kit as I don't need any of their eyeshadows or blushes as I've ordered them all in their first free shipping promotion! (you can check it out here)

I did my order last Oct 17th and I received this Oct 22nd!!! Less than 1 week! That is a Guiness Book of Record!!!

A lovely Joppa Name Card and I didn't make a mistake! I said I tried their 3 pcs mini sampler but I ordered the sampler 2x! LOL

What I ordered ---
(all for $7.00, free shipping)

Foundation
  • Medium Light #2 Full Coverage (I have a strong feeling this is my color so I ordered 2 of these, and...I AM RIGHT!!!!)
  • Medium Light #3 Full Coverage
  • Nutmeg in Simple Radiance
Finishing Silk
  • Original Sheer
  • Simple Radiance Sheer
Swatches Time!

I've used the Medium Light #2 since the moment I received it and I have to say, I am very impressed! Together with the finishing silk, it is a match made in heaven! Don't keep my word yet as I've only been using this for 3 days! But I am really happy I've tried them and because I am so happy with the result and I love the coverage and the way it glides on smoothly on my skin.

And you know what I did? It was the last day of "Free Shipping" promo and I gave in ordering the 3pcs Large Sampler (20g jar) which includes 2 foundations and 1 finishing silk! It costs $24.00! And best of all, I typed in the code "TEN", and I get a 10% off!!! I should have typed in the code on my first order right? But it's ok !!!

Sad to say, for you gals who are interested, Free Shipping promo is over! But I'll definitely keep you guys posted if there's more promotion coming in the future!

I can't wait to get my larger samples! I'll definitely report back to all of you who wants to read a more in-depth review on this!

What makes you smile today?
Me, it's knowing that stuffs in life works for me!
Yes, even mini samplers that matches my skin tone makes me happy!
And knowing you guys are reading my posts makes me even happier!
Thanks ! *muwah*!

Askmewhats Reviews: In2It Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner

Friends, countrymen, aliens :)
I have been talking about lining the eyes yesterday so I guess it is just the right timing to pull out the liner I've used! I think this is the best time to do a review on this product because I'm almost done with this and I'm ready to throw this out! (you can see in the photo below just how much product is left)

Introducing...

And here's the Vital Stats..

You twist the product and the eyeliner will come up
In this case, that's the only product LEFT lol

Let's check out the "butt"
*whistles*

A Sharpener!!!

In2It says ---

This retractable eyeliner combines the ease of an eye pencil with the long-wearing hold of a liquid liner. The ultra-soft textures draws a clean and precise line. It glides on smoothly & effortlessly for a precise & intense result. Without dragging the delicate skin around the eyes.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • does glide easily
  • lasts whole day (but I don't have very oily lids)
  • free sharpener (which helps a lot)
  • packaging is nice, I would say it's not made of cheap retractable plastics
  • doesn't give out a raccoon eye look (you will know why when you read further below)

Cons
  • easy to finish up as the eyeliner is a bit short
  • the sharpener is great but hard to clean up because it's too small

Overall

I can't seem to find In2It's website, and I don't think they have any. To be honest, I am still unclear up to now on where In2It is originally from. (any help on this? Feel free to comment)

Anyways, back to the In2It eyeliner, for people who hates to sharpen their eyeliner pencil, this is going to be a good product for them as you ALWAYS have the sharpener together with the product. I find this easy to use and I would recommend this to a first time eyeliner user!

Tips
  • if you have super oily lids, you can always dust a loose powder gently on top of the eyeliner to prevent it from smudging
  • refer to my post on how to apply pencil liner here
Will I repurchase?

Yes

Where to purchase and how much?

All SM Department stores that has In2It booths, Landmark for Php375.00 (approx $8.00).
Available in black and brown.

And before I finish this review,
Let me show you a Smudge Test
Let's see how well it can handle the "Punisher!"

Here's In2It retractable waterproof eyeliner applied in think and thick lines

As you can see, you wouldn't smudge your eyes the way I did on my hand, so it did passed my test, instead of creating a messy and dirty look, it'll disappear.

I'd rather have a "disappearing" eyeliner rather than an eyeliner that creates an unwanted "smokey" look LOL

Anyways, I hope this review helps for most Asian countries who has In2It products selling in beauty stores. If you're using this too, let me know how you like it!

I will be off for a relaxing weekend spending time with my honey as it's our 1 yr Wedding Anniversary this coming October 27th! Time flies so fast!

Reader's Corner: Gel Lining My Eyes, My Way

(This is a continuation of my Pencil Lining My Eyes, My Way post)

Lining the eyes using gel takes a lot of time and practice, but if you get used to it, you'll find the effect it gives out is more dramatic! And with the right gel liner (my HG is Stila Smudgepots) it stays until you wash your face! This is best used for parties, or those important events that you don't want to have a raccoon eyes!

I am using Smashbox Flat Liner Brush
from the Smashbox Beyond Beauty Encounter Brush Kit
Stila Smudgepots in Black

And they say
"Pictures Paint a Thousand Words"
I'm painting millions!

Tips
  • Same as using an eyeliner pencil, I start from the outer corner of the eye going inward
  • You can use different eyeliner brushes and see which one you're most comfortable with! I've tried slanted liner brush, and other eyeliner brush but I felt most comfortable with this brush on the photo.
  • Using your other hand, press the "temple" area to prevent your skin from moving so much, but never PULL! (say no to wrinkles!)
  • Use small brush strokes and do not repeat the "same area" again and again as the line will go on thick and uneven. There's a saying that goes : "Just MOVE ON!"
  • After "gel-lining" your eyes, if you see any gaps , you can always fill it in with a pencil!
  • Keep in mind that you don't have to line your eyes PERFECTLY everytime, practice makes perfect!
  • If you made a huge mistake, use a cotton bud dipped with make-up remover and slowly wipe the "mistake"
And most of all...
If things go wrong....

REST IF YOU MUST BUT DON'T YOU DARE QUIT!!!! lol

And here's my finished look

And if I want to "wing" it!
Shake your booty and wing it like you mean it! :P

I guess that's it for today!
Poor readers, I'm sure you guys hate my eyes for now!
Don't worry, next post will be...how to trim your NOSE HAIRS! *HAHAHAHA*
and please....DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATHE! I won't do it lol!
Any volunteers? Keep that smile baby!

Readers Corner: Pencil Lining my eyes...My way!

"Nikki, how do you line your eyes using an eyeliner pencil that doesn't look too obvious but gives a big impact to the eyes?"

A lot of beauty bloggers have done this! So I've been procrastinating on answering this query. LOL Sorry. But because I got the energy now, and I think it's just right to show "my way" of lining my eyes EVERYDAY :)

So .... I've finally done it (at long last) using pictures to convey my messages :)

Tips ---
  • always use a sharpened pencil (I am using Paul & Joe Eyeliner Pencil in Black)
  • no need to pull the eyes
  • draw short strokes at a time starting from the outer lid going inward
  • do not press the pencil hard, do it on feathery strokes
  • after you finish drawing a line, try to raise your brows and check if there's any "spot" that you missed lining (as seen on the final photo above)

And here's how my eyes look after!

Watch out for my next post on lining my eyes using a Gel Liner :)
It's Friday!!!! Let's all line our eyes and be happy! :P

Askmewhats Reviews: Kate by Kanebo Gradical Eyes in PK2

Hey pretty gals! How's everybody? It's Thursday and Weekend is near! Nothing can stop me from smiling! And good news? I'm getting 99% better!!!

Another product review coming up and I'll be talking about a product that's close to my heart. I have this product for months now and as you can see in the photo coming up, I've been using it for most of the makeovers as this is quite universal and looks great on anybody!

Let me show you a photo of the product before I talk further :D

The Sponge Applicator that comes with the Palette

The Brush on the other end

The Size Pretty and small

Swatches Time!
All are swiped once NO BASE
(swatched Left to Right, same as Palette)

Kate Gradical Eyes Says ---

Kanebo KATE Eye Shadow is a trendy eye shadow palette with luxurious matching of vivid & shining colours.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • very pigmented
  • doesn't crease (yes, even without base)
  • color stays on
  • very shimmery (if you love the shimmery type of e/s)
  • high quality sponge applicator and brush
  • versatile to be used as highlighter for any skintone <--- tested
Cons
  • some of the colors are pretty much the same
  • no mirror (if you are a mirror person, I personally don't mind)
  • this won't be pretty for someone who's not into shimmery shadows
Overall

This palette is a quad but basically, it looks like you're just getting 2 shades, one salmon pink and white. I would say this has the best "FREE" applicator I've tried. As seen on the photos above, I've used the sponge applicator many times and it doesn't wear or tear. The other side which is the brush is surprisingly soft as well.

This would be too much to use all at once, but I find this works well to any matte shadows you're using and you can use this to highlight the inner corner of the eyes and also the brow bone area.

Tips
  • using the sponge applicator tip, dip in any shimmery color you want (out of the 3 squares) and tap it lightly on the inner corner of your eyes to create a "wide awake/blooming" look
  • using the brush end of the free applicator, highlight the brow bone area by gently swiping the brush lightly
  • you can use it to tap it lightly on your lips after applying clear lip gloss to create a "shimmery" lips
  • Want to buy this cheap? Check them out when SM malls or Landmark have 10-20% off. You just have to be patient
Will I repurchase?
YES!

Where to repurchase and How Much?

SM Department stores Kanebo Counters, Landmark approx less than Php500 (less than $12.00) Sorry I can't remember as I bought this a long time.

Let me show you a photo on how pretty it gets when applied lightly on the inner corner of the eye, it definitely brightens the whole look! Check out my 2 loyal models both of different skin tone Beatrilicious Bea and Grace! :D

So, what's your "secret" eye brightening product?
Looks like I don't have a secret no more!
Yeah that's right! It's my Kate by Kanebo quad!
Can I say, smiling is another secret of mine?
Take care ya all!
