Askmewhats Reviews: Elizabeth Arden High Shine Lip Gloss

Happy weekend dearies!!!

Another product review for the lips!!! I've had this early this year and has been using this on days I am too lazy to do my eye makeup. Yes dearests!!! It's a red colored lip product!!!

Introducing....
Elizabeth Arden's High Shine Lip Gloss
in Raspberry Glace

I've used this lip gloss in some looks from the past :)
And its time to review the product itself!

Elizabeth Arden High Shine Lips says ----

Glides over lipstick for brilliant shine or smoothes on alone for glamorous, glossy lips.

.22 Fl. oz. / 6.5 ml.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • dermatologist tested
  • non-sticky
  • very pigmented
  • very nice and simple packaging
  • due to its color is quite deep, the gloss stays approximately half day before reapplying
  • non drying
Cons
  • quite pricey (especially if you don't want to spend more than $10.00 on makeup)
Overall

If you plan to wear red but is afraid to start! You can always start with a Red-colored lipgloss! Gracie knew how scared I am to wear red lipstick so she gifted me this to start off and be feisty! LOL

I like that this isn't too sticky and easy to apply! It does not bleed on my dry lips and it stays a bit longer as compared to other glosses.

Tips
  • wear alone for simpler lip color
  • wear on top of lipstick for a brighter and bolder color and shine
  • if you are applying lip balm, make sure to apply lip balm several minutes before you apply this gloss to prevent the gloss from sliding and prolong the gloss on lips
  • OC-ness alert, wipe this with a paper towel after every usage to prevent this gloss from going bad!
  • if you are a makeup artist, use a cotton bud or disposable wand to apply this onothers
Will I repurchase?

I'd love to! :) Will check at Elizabeth Arden Counters at Rustan's.

Where can you purchase and how much?

I've never bought from the sites stated below, I've just done research, I got this as a gift from dear friend Gracie! Thanks sis!

On Elizabeth Arden US website for $15.00 (approx Php720.00)
At Beauty Counter site for $10.00 (approx Php480.00)

Here's to show
how Raspberry Glace looks

Swatched on hand

Worn alone on lips!

Coming from someone who's scared to wear red!
Do give a gloss a try!
You'll be surprised how it brightens the overall look
without too much make up on :D

Askmewhats Report: Rexona's Lighten Up! Event

Ahhh Friday everyone! What's so good about today? Everything!!!

Another Askmewhats Report I am excited about!!! Girls and guys! You do remember the time I talked about "Down Under"? Don't you? ....

How dare you not remember!!!! LOL

To refresh your memory, smile like a crazy geek and click here

And we thought sensitive topic is over! Of course not!

There's another sensitive topic that hasn't been discussed much by women because of the "darkness" of it! Yes baby! Our underarms! Well if you've got super sexy underarms, what are you waiting for, click COMMENT and tell us your secret! And please do not say its genes! Hundreds of hands will come out of the screen to strangle you!

I want to thank Charisse Vilchez from Stratworks Inc. *waves HI!* for the invitation. I am intrigued with "Lighten Up!" event, so no matter how far it is, I promise myself to go there no matter what! Trust me...I am the "media person who got lost!" that night :( But thank goodness I still got all the juicy info for you!!!

The event was hosted by
the gorgeous Ms. Angel Jacob

(She is very pretty!)

The program started with a presentation that talks about dark underarms as a constant source of insecurity and frustrations for millions of women!

Dr. Jean Marquez (photo below)
President of the Philippine Center
for Dermatology & Laser Surgery
and Owner of The Skin Specialist Clinic

Dr. Marquez says that the most cases she handled traced back to factors such as genetics and hormonal imbalance. But the most common cause of dark underarms is habitual plucking and/or shaving.

A phone patch has been done
to talk to the Clinical Manager
for Antiperspirant/Deodorant Studies
Dr. Vernon Marti
from Unilever Research & Development in UK

Shown on photos below
are the Deodorant Innovation Centers
located across the globe

Unilever Philippines' R&D Director
Dr. Satish Goel
also gave us a knowledgeable input

According to Dr. Goel, Sunflower Oil, which is found in this new Rexona Lighten Up deodorant, has a rich source of linoleic acid, which is an essential fatty acid which helps rejuvenate and lighten underarm skin. By creating a protective barrier on skin, sunflower oil prevents water and lipid loss and encourages cellular repair.

And I was left with a very strong quote that haunts me

Quoted from Dr. Goel ---

"Every time you pluck and shave, you cause damage to your underarms, Rexona Skin Light with Sunflower Oil, immediately halts this process and restores underarms to its normal healthy state. With regular and proper use, women can achieve lighter underarms in just two weeks, even if they don't give up plucking or shaving."
What's an event without
some photo time?

Me, suddenly shy
to pose in front

It was great to see Shen from Kikay Pinay
and my first time to meet
Sasha Manuel from
Style Manila

With the gorgeous lighting,

who wouldn't want to pose more?

And another pose?
Now that I've seen the photos

I should have raised my arms! :P

Now, after decades of using Secret,
I've FINALLY...broke up with her 2 nights ago...
And say hello to a new relationship
with Rexona Skin Light!
We'll see how it goes!

Keep smilin'
Stay Happy
Stay Lighten up!

Askmewhats Version: "Darling!, It's Another Black" Look

Black looks dirty...

Black looks dirty-not...

You know what? I don't care! I just want to use this new quad that I got from a dear friend Tine! (Thanks Tine). This is my first Rimmel London e/s palette! I've created yet ANOTHER smokey black look with a bit of twist. If I only use the quad, it looks a li'l bit blah on me so I added something to make it... ahmm... 3 dimensional! LOL So take a scroll down to a smokey black lane and see what I've used to give this look a bit of "oommph"

Final look

Askmewhats Diagram

Step 1:

Apply MAC Beige-ing Shadestick all over lids. Pat on the Silver Grey color all over lids using Dual Tip e/s applicator.

Step 2:

This is the "different part" I've done, I've used Fasion 21 Stick Eyeshadow in Lagoon and spread it on the crease area going a bit above. Pat on gently with fingers to spread evenly. Apply the darkest shade from the Rimmel London quad using the sponge tip applicator.

Step 3:

Using Yumeko's Styling e/s (thanks girl) , apply the shimmery white shadow on the browbone area going to the inner corner of the eye.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

You can now blend everything using a blending brush
Re-apply specific colors if needed

Step 4:

Apply Coastal Scents gel liner in True Black using White Angled Liner brush (I am starting to love this brush I swear!)

Step 5:

Apply Fashion 21's Lagoon Stick e/s on the lower lash line, apply Urban Decay's ZERO and Yeyo on waterline

Apply your preferred mascara
making sure to curl your lashes

(I need to change my Shu pad soon!)

Final Look

Oh yeah!
I used MAC's Coquette e/s

to fill in my brows

And what did I use for the rest of my face?

For the Face

Primed my face with P&J Face Primer
Joppa Medium Light no 2 Foundation
Top with MAC's Mineralized Skinfinish in Light

For the Cheeks

Contoured with
MAC's Grand Duo Light over Dark

using a Fan brush

P&J Disney blush (thanks Hedley)

For the Lips

Kiehl's No. 1 Lip Balm
Ellana Lip Color in Romance

In person, it honestly doesn't look plain black

It has a bit of color that you can't pinpoint!

Why am I explaining so much? LOL
*I can't be on trial, I sound guilty!*
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Smile your troubles away!
I want to thank everyone for the

Tag Time: ME!

Thanks to Thiamere , Donnarence and Lynn for the tag! This is an evil tag! LOL

Rules: Take a picture of yourself RIGHT now. No primping or preparing. Just snap a picture. Load the picture onto your blog. Tag some people to play.

When I first read the tag, I did not cheat! I took a shot right away but just had the chance to upload it at the moment! This was taken in the morning right after I moisturize my face. Yes people! That's how big my bags are EVERY morning, but it does subside as the day goes on! LOL See my "Smiley Baby" at the background? <--- I am trying to divert your attention! Damn! Why am I telling you that? :P

Almost everyone I know has been tagged!
If you haven't been tagged yet!
YOU KNOW IT'S YOUR TURN!!!

Askmewhats Reviews: Fan Brush

Happy Wednesday everyone!!! Where's that smile baby? *winks*

When I did the Reader's Corner episode on "How I Contour my Cheeks". The sweet Yumeko chan saw the fan brush that I included for brushes you can use to contour and she wanted to know more about the fan brush! :)

Here's the inexpensive brush I bought, this is China made brush.

How does it fair for the price?
Is it worth to have this type of brush
in your Brush Collection?
Read on and be enlightened LOL

Fan Brush says ---

NOTHING

But for the sake of argument, I researched about the usage of Fan Brushes.

A fan brush is a brush with layers of bristles spread out by the ferrule. A fan brush is commonly used to blend colors.

Specs

Handle - wooden
Length of the brush from end to end - 7.5 inches
Height of the fan -
2 inches
Expansion of fan - 4 inches

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • great to take off fallen pigments
  • great for blending colors
  • great for contouring as you don't grab a lot of colors in one swipe
  • multi-purpose: For blush, contour powders, finishing powders, to remove excess pigment fall outs
  • inexpensive
Cons
  • has a bit of hair fall (but for the price, it's not that bad)
  • cannot be taken along on your daily makeup kit due to its size
  • has a bit of flyaways but nothing bad
  • if your skin is very sensitive, the brush hairs are a bit rough (just a bit)
  • not all stores carry these
Overall

If you don't have problems contouring your cheeks, and you have enough blush brush and slanting brush... You do not need to purchase this brush anymore.

In my opinion, this is a great brush to have as part of your collection but not a requirement.

I originally have a smaller fan brush just to highlight the cheekbones and to remove fall outs from my eyeshadow application, I never thought a large fan brush would even be available. I guess they are available for a purpose, and it really depends on the user on how they would use this brush to its maximum level.

I find that contouring is a breeze using this brush, I don't use this as a blusher brush but I use this mainly to contour the hollow of my cheeks and the jawline area. I use lesser product and the effect is very natural.

Tips
  • always wash them well before usage, I can literally see the dirt washed out and the dye
  • swipe the brush gently twice, no tapping needed, and spread it gently on areas you would want to contour.
  • this brush can also be used to apply your finishing powder, for a more natural look
  • always store them well, do not smash them with other stuffs as it may "ruin" the "fan" effect (this is what you're paying for, the fan effect)
  • since this brush is huge, the hairs of the brush attracts more dust, so always clean them well
Will I repurchase?

One is enough for me :)

Where did I purchase and how much?

At Landmark for less than Php200.00 (approx $4-5)
Coastal Scents call them the Jumbo Italian Badger Fan Brush sold for $11.95 (approx Php576.22)

Fan Brush Moment

See how thick the hairs are?
Has a bit of flyaways that doesn't bother me

See how huge it is
?

Ferrule close up

Handle with no. 801
and the brand name Mai Shani
(FYI: they have a smaller version available too)

Another view
I like the fan shape
and it doesn't look cheap!

Right beside
my Nokia phone

And you thought photos are done!

Of course not!

Here's to show how I use my fan brush

See how natural and
non-streaky it looks?

Let's not forget that chin!

And cover that
double chin?

So many ways you can find
Try to maximize everything you have!
I'm a pro-maximizer (LOL never sounds right!)
It's always great to have multi-tasking stuffs!
