Askmewhats Report: Basement Academy Day 3

Day 3, I hope you gals are not hating my makeup school post! LOL I've been super busy lately but rest assure! Regular blogging will continue after Wednesday! Yes, last day of my class is this coming Wednesday!

Things we discussed today:

Blush Effects

I'm glad it was the same tricks and tips I talked about on my previous post, do smile and click here.

Lip Effects

darker lipcolor - makes the lips smaller
lighter lipcolor (shimmery, frosted, glossy) - makes the lips bigger and fuller

So, are you into masking your lips like me? Or want fuller lips like Angelina Jolie? :D

Eyebrow Shaping

Eyebrow shaping is also discussed as this is one important key to enhance one's look. Everybody has our own version of a perfect brow, drawing a brow shape in a blank canvass is hard I tell ya! I will definitely share some tips on how I do my brows soon!

Makeup Look ---
ONE TONE Smokey Eyes

This is one of the harder class for me because I've always thought the lesser color used for eye makeup makes it easier for application. I did say I'm not always right, right?

What is a One Tone Smokey Eye?

One tone means using a single color e/s to create dimension of colors. The way to apply this is using "vertical" motion to achieve a "smoked" effect. It sounds easy, but needs a lot of patience!

Here's my model
for the night

Here's a one tone
smokey black look

Applied with falsies

I am so proud of myself for this shot!
it does look like there's smoke right?
lol

Have you tried one tone makeup?
Do give it a try!

It's a nice challenge and change!

Askmewhats Report: Basement Academy Day 2

Good day everyone! How's your weekend? Mine is super busy I can hardly breathe! LOL
Another school report to share! :)

Day 2 is another exciting school day because I learned more on...

Contouring
  • forehead
  • face
  • jaws
  • chin
  • lips
  • nose
Blending is very important as well so whatever is highlighted and contoured won't come out too obvious!

What's more exciting? Eye makeup! We were taught to do 3 colors to enhance the eyes.

1st color (applied all over lids) : beige, gold, vanilla, off white, peach, etc...
2nd color (to be deposited outer corner of the eyes): brown, maroon, blue, green, gray etc..
3rd color (to be deposited on the outer v to deepen the crease) : black, etc...

Here's my model
(My model have virgin eyebrows,
never been touched and shaved all her life,
since she is still 16yrs young,
I just shaved a bit to have a clean look)

We were asked to do
our version of evening look

Smokey look done is a subtle

Doesn't she look prettier
when she smiles?
Love her dimples

Note: did not change her skin tone
the one was taken in yellow light no flash
and the after shot is with flash :)

I will walk you through day 3 soon :)
It gets more and more exciting each day!
Thanks for being part of my adventure!

Have a wonderful day!

Weekend Food Tripping at: President's Tea House Express

*waves!!!*

Hello everyone! How's weekend? I slept for hours and hours! LOL

Don't you hate it when you're sleep so soundly, with great dreams? Then your mobile phone is ringing because a sales guy is trying to sell you something???? GRRRRRR!!!! That's what happened to me!!! And I'm the type of person when woken up in the middle of sleep will have a hard time going back to sleep! Talk about rest! I should just turn off my mobile phone in the future right? hahaha But it is funny!!! I think that's the first time in my life I've said "NO" with conviction!!!

"Want to purchase this?"
"NO!"
"Do you have time to meet up with us?"
"NO!"
"Can you give me another time that you are free?"
"NO!"

LOL Oh well, I'm going to stop about the disturbing my sleep!!! Let me go on with something happy to talk about!!! FOOD!!!!

I remembered those days when the hubby and I are still boyfriends and girlfriends, we were both busy for our wedding preparation and we would go to Glorietta mall to meet up our wedding suppliers. Those were the days you really have to save up for the wedding so we wouldn't be eating places that are too expensive but we wouldn't want to eat crappy food right?

That's where the Glorietta 4 food court comes in! I love Glorietta food court because you got a lot of food choices at an affordable price and the quality is still there!

When I'm itching for Chinese food! I'll go for President's Tea House Express. An authentic Chinese Fast Food! I love variations and our favorite would be their Lauriat!

Take a look

You have a choice of 2 dishes
included are fried rice, soup and chips!

Photo below:
Tofu and Fish
Shanghai Rolls

Next variation:
Sweet and Sour Pork
Spicy Squid

Keith and I love to share our food, so I have 4 food choices in one sitting! Now that's what we call GOURMET! :P The price isn't expensive, each plate costs Php199.00 (approx $4.00) and you're full! :) That's what I call... "A Happy Meal"!

---------------------------------------------

2 weeks ago, I ordered from the Makeup Mix Shop again when I learned that the free shipping for $20.00 international orders will be over by May 11th. I just wanted to take advantage of that offer, though the new shipping rate isn't bad at all!

At the same time, I've always wanted a liner pen to line my falsies! I gave in and ordered some stuffs and surprisingly, I got it early this time!!! :)

Here's my mini haul! :)
everything costs a little bit
more than $20.00! :)
(not bad for the number of products I got)

Want to know what I bought?

1. The Brush Guard $5.25
2. Jesse's Girl Tattoo Pen in Henna $2.49
Jesse's Girl Tattoo Pen in Black $2.99
3. Eye Lashes: Style A-10 $2.00
4. Andrea Mod Lash #70 $3.00 each
5. NYX Round Lipstick in Chloe $2.00
6. Discount coupon and Free
MM Mineral e/s in Sangeeta

The hauls came in perfect timing!
I will use them for my make-up classes!
And I can't wait to guard my brushes with the
Famous Brush Guards! :)

Have a wonderful day!

Stay Happy!
Stay Full!

Askmewhats Report: Basement Academy Day 1

Happy day everyone!

I am lacking sleep for the one whole week but I am still grinning from ear to ear. What's not to be happy about if you converse about make-up and do hands-on makeup each and every night?

I am slow with my reporting but here's my first day of make-up school. I chose Basement Academy because of so many reasons.
  • I've researched about their syllabus and I love their course outline!
  • I've met with the people who works there and they are warm and friendly.
  • The academy has night classes from 6pm-10pm which is great for someone like me who's got a full time job.
  • Live models are included in the tuition fee, no need to worry about models on my part!
  • Classes are maximum of 9 students only
  • And wouldn't you be impressed with the look of their workstation?

Here's me organizing my stuff on my workstation!

First day of school is great because I've further enhanced my knowledge on identifying face shapes, eye shapes, chins, jaws etc... Make-up application does not require me to just put on make-up wherever I want. Identifying the face of the person if very important to enhance the beauty of each individual.

Here's my work
on first day of class

No make-up look

Here's a before and after shot

of my dear model!

(thanks Kim for the before photo
and the program)

Yes, camwhorers on
first day of class!

(L-R Me, The teacher Cheryl Cabanos
Kim and Shen)

We have another classmate
Stephanie!
You'll see her photo with us
on my next report! :)

A week has already passed!
I'm sure at this early stage, I will miss the people
I see each and every night!
Make-up school is something I've wanted for long!
There's always new to learn no matter how much you think you know about make-up!
See you around for another Report!
Keep smilin'

Stay Happy!

Askmewhats Reviews: Embodyments Body Butter

Happy Friday everyone!
Guess what? It's 1:15am and I just got back home! Make-up school is WONDERFUL! But gosh, we left the school around 11:30pm already! We had fun with makeup looks and cam-whoring with our teacher Ms. Cheryl Cabanos :) Will talk m ore about the school adventure soon! :)

Let's talk about product reviews again!

Remember when I posted the "I Wonder" post about dry skin? After all the overwhelming responses I've received, I came to a point wherein I realized the further dry skin I have is due to my own laziness, I have to admit, I don't apply body lotion daily and there are times I am too lazy to purchase the right soap! So I want to thank everyone for the suggestions. I have listed them all down and will give them a try one by one! I've got the most answer on Cetaphil Body Cream, Lubriderm, The Body Shop Body Butter, etc...

During my last bazaar visit, the wonderful smelling booth from Embodyment caught my nose's attention! Giving their testers a try, I've got nothing to lose right?

Here are 2 variants I've tried:

Olive Body Butter is known for it's intensive moisturizing property
Lavender Body Butter, well, aside from moisturizing properties, I love the calmness of its scent!

Let me start with
Lavender & White Tea Body Butter

Embodyment Lavender & White Tea says ---

Apply all over your body after bathing for smooth and velvety skin.

The packaging says ---

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • very moisturizing
  • absorbs to the skin easily, no oily residue
  • scent Lavender is super relaxing
  • scent is non overpowering
  • has the spa feel!
  • size is perfect to carry along
  • has quality seal so you know it's brand new

Cons
  • not easily available (do email them for bazaar schedules)
Overall Tips
  • OCness again, use a spatula instead of dipping your fingers for hygiene
  • apply this body butter right after taking a shower!
  • apply this 2x daily (if possible)
  • choose the scent you prefer to make you "want" to use this consistently
  • the Lavender scent is perfect to relax you before you go to bed
Will I repurchase?

Yes

Where can you purchase and how much?

Online site or email them embodyment.oe@gmail.com
I bought these at the WTC Bazaar for
50g = Php150.00 (approx $3.20)
Buy 6 get 1 Free
100g = Php250.00 (approx $5.20) Buy 4 get 1 Free

Feast your eyes on the
Lavender & White Tea
Body Butter

Texture is light
and non-runny

Let me show you the next body butter variant
