Weekend Food Tripping at: Yakimix

Are you in an "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole cow" mood?  Buffet is the answer to your hungry problems!  I seldom dine in an "eat-all-you-can" restaurant because I like enjoying my food without stuffing my face with it.  There are days though that I just can't make up my mind on what dishes I am craving for.  That's when buffets are worth it!  Over the weekend, I was in the mood to try the famous buffet restaurant that has been buzzing around the food review blogs!  The restaurant is called Yakimix!

Stuffing yourself with food won't be fun if you're alone!  So armed with the family army, we marched to Yakimix Thomas Morato branch (previously Nippon restaurant)  and showed them what my family can do to their kitchen! *laughs*

The ambiance that greeted us is quite nice and spacious, I like it that there are couches on the sides were people can relax!  It's quite packed with family and friends and you can instantly see the buffet table right in the middle of the room.

The buffet table separates the raw and cooked dishes. The other side of the table are the Japanese Sushi and Sashimi.  There's an appetizer area which includes soup and some snacks!  My favorite is the "Miso soup", I gulped 2 bowls of it prior to my main dish!  There's also a pastry and ice cream area for dessert lovers out there!

Each table has a grilling pan set up for you to cook!  I have to remind you NOT to set up a date after dining in this restaurant.  You'll end up smelling like a grilled ham!  This can be good...if yourdate is into smoked ham! hahaha

I took shots of my family member's plates.  Make sure to separate the plate for raw and cooked dishes.
Let's start with my plate, don't worry, I plan to start with poise and go back for the dishes I like.  There's beef and broccoli, scrambled eggs, mushrooms with vegetables and some pork ribs.  I am taking my time!

Some squid balls, shrimp tempura, tuna rolls and random seafood.

Korean dishes are also available.  Korean beef, Kimchi and Chinese dishes like garlic fish, dimsum and random dishes like pastas.

For the raw dishes, there are some random beef, pork and seafood as well as sausages.

Meat were marinated with different types of sauces and spices.

Some Yakitori and random meat and seafood.  I am overwhelmed with the food they offer!

I like the part of grilling and enjoyed eating them freshly cooked!  Be careful not to burn your tongue!

I ended the heavy meal with a  nice cup of mango ice cream and skipped the pastries.  My mom enjoyed their egg tarts as my nephew played his ice cream with chocolate kisses and sprinkles.  We were definitely full and satisfied.

I've read mixed reviews on the customer service of the restaurant.  Personally, I did not have any problem with the branch at Tomas Morato.  You just have to arrive early so you don't have to wait for your table.

The buffet meal costs Php580.00 (approx $12.60) tax and service charge included and additional Php50.00 (approx $1.20) for bottomless drinks.  The restaurant accepts cash and credit card payments.

Eureka Moment: My Popcorn Pen

Warning!!! This post is super childish!  If you are not into "kid's stuff",  consider yourself warned!  Continue reading at your own risk!

About me --- my happiness is definitely not relative to price tags!  Anything can make me happy as long as it can make my heart swells.  As long as a huge smile can spread across my face!  That...is my measurement to simple happiness.

Early this year, I wrote about my 2010 Just A Moment organizer, it's an organizer that traveled straight from Korea to my humble la-la-land.  It came with a "not-so-cheap" price tag but it's the prettiest organizer I've  ever own in my entire life so it's worth it.

"With such great organizer comes great resPENsibility"

I couldn't bear to use a regular pen, nothing could look right with this organizer!  I've searched high and low for a cute pen that I can slip into the "pen" holder but failed miserably!

Until recently, my eyes laid on this....

I was reminded of my favorite teenage movie "Clueless" back in high school played by Alicia Silverstone.  A certain scene got stuck in my head because of the cute "feathered pen" she used in class while she was day dreaming.

Silly 'ol me was able to purchase one and used it for the rest of my high school years.  No wonder my teacher calls me most of the time for recitation!  My pen calls for attention!!!

I got addicted to it so much I've gone through feathered pens in different colors.  The sad thing about this pen is the "balding" issue!

Finally!  I've found "THE ONE" that goes so well with the color of my organizer and my personality!  The Popcorn Mink Pen.

This product is made in Korea and made by the company called Popcorn!  Beats me!  I can't read Korean but this is one pen worth purchasing!  Cute packaging and very cheap price tag.

The PopCorn Mink Pen is available locally at the ultimate destination to look for unique items called the Clipper store.  Located at selected malls for Php49.75 (approx $1.20)!  NOT BAD!  Keep in mind that most of these pens come in blue.  With perseverance, I was able to find one in black!  Lucky me!!!  We are destined to be together!

Do cute pens like this make your heart flutter like mine?  Are you as childish as I am?
I hope I'm not alone on this!!!

Happy weekend!!!

Readers' Corner: "Brushes I Use Daily"

To my dear AMW Readers:

Thank you for asking questions via Cbox, email and comment page per post!  Thank you, from the bottom of my huge heart, for entrusting your personal beauty problems to me!  As much as possible, I answer the queries directly to save time, but if a question concerns majority of the readers, I will be sharing it here!

I got a reader query regarding makeup brushes.  Reader knew the "brush whore" in me and wondered how I know which brush to choose "from the huge brush collection you have" (quoted from her)

Well, to make it clear, I do  have a good number of brushes but more than 75% of it are meant for professional use.  I do keep them clean and away from dust.  I have a couple of brushes displayed for personal use but there's top 5 brushes I've been using daily!  Read on and take a peek!

1. Dual-ended foundation and concealer brush both from Dollface and Essence of Beauty
If I use liquid foundation, this is my favorite foundation brush.  But since the weather is very hot and humid, down here, I use the "foundation brush" to apply concealer under the eye area and on the sides of the nose.

2. Ecotools Kabuki Brush
Surprisingly, this is a very good k-brush to apply my mineral foundation or setting powder!

3. Sigma Eyeliner Brush/Ecotools Eyeliner brush
I love to use pencil liners on a daily basis, but on days I go eye shadow-less, I prefer using gel liner and my best tool to apply gel liner is the Ecotools Eyeliner brush and I also alternate it with my new Sigma SS266 brush because I'm too lazy to wash my brushes daily!

4. Thevi Dome Blush
Thevi sent me this brush more than a year ago for review.  I love this brush so much I use this daily!  I am proud to say, I wash this brush often because I don't like breaking out especially on my cheek area!  This is the easiest blush brush to use for that fresh "blushing" look!

5. Eyebrow brush from G-lish
Oh my, my ultimate eyebrow brush ever and I sad to say, I can't even repurchase this alone!  This was made by a local brand called G-lish and it was part of a travel set!  I love how I can easily fill in my brows with a brow powder or an eye shadow shade that matches my brows.  I can't live without this brush!

On some days, I can go from 5 brushes to 3!  It really depends on my mood and my skin condition!  Thanks for asking this question, I enjoyed rummaging through my tools and show you my li'l nook!

Have a wonderful Friday!
Do share your top brushes!

Event: Paul & Joe 3rd Birthday Bash

**you can click photo to enlarge

Dear Philippine Readers:

Name one makeup brand you can think on top of your head that's a favorite of mine....

No there's no prize for this!  (although there will be a contest coming up sometime this month or next month) If the Japanese/French brand PAUL AND JOE came right on top of your head...bravo!  You know me too darn well!  You deserve a cyber hug and kiss from me! :D  If you don't know, then you can always click HERE and read my fun experiences and reviews with the brand.  I've also attended the Protective Dual Powder Foundation with SPF launch which I did not regret because I got to meet my soul mate!  My Powder Foundation Soul Mate!

Recently, I haven't been blogging  or reviewing much about the said brand, that does not mean my relationship with this brand has ended.  Can I tell you a secret?  Can you keep a secret?

If answer is Yes...continue reading.... No?   Well, continue reading and be guilty! *hahaha*

I've been to a couple of sales event from Prestige Brand (the company who brought in Paul & Joe) and I hoarded like I have the money to spare!  I have stocks of my favorite Paul & Joe products that I needed to finish up before they expire!  It has been a year...and I'm near the finish line! (Finish Line = finishing all my backups!)  YAY!

The First Paul & Joe Birthday Bash was a success, I was there!  I skipped the Second because of a busy schedule...and time flew by so fast!  The 3rd Paul & Joe Birthday is coming up!  Thanks to the people who brought  in P&J Philippines, and thanks to Prestige Brands for sending me an invite for their 3rd birthday party!  And YOU, can join the fun event too!

The event will start around 4:00pm Friday and Saturday.  I didn't get the Sunday schedule.  But if you're just around Rustan's Makati area, do check them out!  I may probably be hoarding stocking up (again) on Protective Dual Powder Foundation in shades 20 and 30 and my favorite P&J eyebrow pencils!

I may be going but it depends on my schedule!  If you see me, please smile and say "hi!" okay???  I'm not a snob!  Promise!
