AMW Reviews: Majolica Majorca Aurora Tear Liner

I love watching any cartoon characters breaking into a "teary-eyed" mode, there's the PowerPuff Girls....

And there's the Japanese cartoon which I find them to draw the best expressions when it comes to the eyes!

Then comes Majolica Majorca Aurora Tear Liner!  Can I get the expressive teary-looking eyes?

Majolica Majorca Aurora Tear Eyeliner says ---
An eyeliner that adds shimmer to the eyes with drops of Aurora pearls.  Fine hair pencil lets you glide with precision on eye lids or lashes.  The transparent gel base brings out the best in sparkle and keeps it in place.  Whether you batt your lashes, close or squint your eyes, it glitters all the time.

Available in 2 shades --- BL Awakening Tears and PK Morning Crystals.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Very cute packaging, easy to carry around.
  • The brush is very fine and can give you a precise line.
  • Can be applied on top of your eyeliner or eyeshadow and gives you a nice sparkle that's not overly done.
  • Can be applied on the inner corner for that "teary/sparkly" look.
  • Once you let the tear liner set, it stays at least 3-4 hours.
  • Doesn't irritate my eyes. The glitters aren't big.
Cons
  • Not for everyone.  I know a lot who aren't into sparkles.
  • If applied on lashes, may lose the curl as it weighs down lash hairs.
  • Some of the sparkles may transfer to your lashes or under eye area which is ok if you like it, not ok if you aren't into "sparkly" look.
  • A bit pricey (but still cheaper as compared to MAC Glitter Eyeliner).
Overall
This is not a necessity in every girls' kikay kits!  This is a special addition to people who likes to party or would like to create an "ooomph" o the eye area.  I find that using this makes my eyes look more wide awake.

Tips
  • The blue version would be seen more while the pink one (which I have) is more subtle.
  • If you are unsure about the glitters getting into the rest of your face, it is best to apply on the upper lash line first, let it set before you head out.
  • For a more dramatic "sparkle", apply on the upper lashline, the inner corner of the eyes and lashes!  Best when you have smokey eye makeup.  Use a nude colored lipstick for that focus to the eyes.
  • Can also apply this on your face.  Make sure you don't have sensitive skin.
  • Apply first layer, let dry, then go on and apply 2nd layer.  Making sure the first layer is dry makes it easier to pile up the glitters.
  • Once your eyes get irritated, STOP usage immediately!
Will I repurchase?
No, one bottle is enough, this will last me a long long time!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Party people!  If you feel like your office look is almost the same as your "after-office look", this is the best way to create a party atmosphere with your makeup!  I like it that this is so small and easy to carry around and you can even apply on your cheeks for that nice sparkle as you dance the night away!

Where to purchase and how much?
At SM Department Stores Beauty Section or selected Watsons for Php595.00 (approx $14.16).

PK Morning Crystals applied on hand
Gel like texture that dries up a couple of seconds after and the glitters stay.

My eyes with dark brown gel liner

Applied Aurora Tear Liner PK Morning Crystals
on the inner corner and inner thirds of the lower lash line.

Applied 2 layers of Aurora Tear Liner on the upper lash line.
This will look even better with eyeshadow!

While the Aurora Tear Liner is still wet, gently spread it a bit
to create nice sparkle all over eyes or face!

Using this won't give me the cute cartoon eyes, but this can definitely give a nice "oomph" on a simple make-up!  I like using this applied just at the inner corner of my eyes because I like it simple that way! :)  To the rest?  Go ahead and sparkle all you want! :)

Will you use a glittery liner?

AMW Reports: What's New at Watsons

To be honest, I haven't been around malls lately because of my super busy schedule!  On weekends, if I don't have make-up gigs, you would see me either visiting my parents' place or just stay at home --- rest and sleep like a log!  That's why when I got into a Watsons store at SM Megamall a few weeks before I left for Shanghai (to buy toiletries), I was amazed on the variety of brands added inside the Watsons Family.

Jheng, Jane and myself were just talking during lunch how much we enjoyed going around Watsons, I think a lot of you would agree that the store is a huge "stress-buster"!  It's very difficult not to walk inside without buying at least ONE item.

A simple 'lunch' event was held a couple of days ago and I was able to attend!  It was an afternoon filled with beauty talk!

We were at the second floor of Museum Cafe (M Cafe). After a hearty meal, Watsons Brand Manager Mr. Jared M. De Guzman started the presentation with a talk about a product close to my heart --- BB Creams!  He discussed about its origin, its functions and the advantages of using one.

At the back of my head, I knew Watsons carry Pure Beauty BB Creams, but I didn't know the range grew this big!

Purederm 3 in 1 Beauty Pearl BB Cream - great for people who like the extra "glow"
Purederm Magic BB Cream with Skin Conditioning Effects - works for normal/oily skin

L-R UV White Sun Protection Compact (Php339.00/approx $9.00)
Jasmine Water BB Cream (Php319.00/approx $7.60)
Soothin BB Cream (Php199.00/approx $4.74)
ALL PURE BEAUTY PRODUCTS ARE MADE IN KOREA

And would you believe I also learn there are BB Creams lower than Php200.00 (approx $4.50)?  The Gluta & Placenta BB Cream by Glorious Skin costs only Php169.00 (approx $3.90).  We chuckled a bit on its promise of "Instant White"! But hey!  If that's what you're looking for, this is the only BB Cream I've came across with this function!

Dream Girl Faith BB Cream for less than Php200.00 (approx $.4.50) too I believe!

Then we were moved on to the next product line...

The Watsons H Bella Bath and Body Care Line
Products were distributed on each table and we were encouraged to give them a test!  Our table, while eating was trying out these products and even joked about accidentally eating them because they smell fruity!

New products after products quite new to me were unveiled right in front of my eyes!  I actually like the fact that I can test the products at once as they pass the products around for us to sniff and try!  And there are some products that REALLY piqued my interest.....

 Pure Beauty Makeup Remover Range!
L-R Pure Beauty Perfect Cleansing Oil - oh my!!! So excited for this!
Pure Beauty Perfect Cleansing Liquid
Pure Beauty Perfect Cleansing Water

And Dove Foaming Make Up Remover!
Php359.00 (approx $8.50)
I realized that I have a thing for "cleansing" :P

Ah, so many new products available at our local Watsons.  I am actually not that overwhelmed when I visited Watsons Shanghai as I found a lot of products "finally" available here!  And before the event ended, we were asked with the most "loved" question for the day.....

"What brands would you like to see at our local Watsons carry?"

Oh my, I shouted "Le'gere BB Cream" right away, I thought about most of the readers who emailed me about the brand!  Sophie mentioned Mandom Cleansing Lotion and they are sold in Watsons Singapore!  I have to second the motion as I have mine delivered from Hong Kong!

The day turns into an exciting open forum and I would like you my dear readers share their thoughts!  Who knows?  Your wishes may come true!

My extra wishlist, Lucido L Hair Products!  I've seen them in Watsons Shanghai and I own one which was gifted to me by my friend in Malaysia! :)

Feel free to share what your thoughts!
Thanks Watsons Philippines, ARC and special mention to gorgeous Jenny for the invite :)

Nail Art Tutorial: Jeans on my Nails

I was going for a very simple nail art for the week as I am feeling under the weather after my Shanghai Trip.  Yup, even if I'm sick, I can't stand it when I see my "chipped" nails.  My Panda nails was losing either its mouth or the other eye so I've decided to create a quick nail art which anyone can try! :)

It's inspired by the most casual yet important piece of clothing in anyone's closet --- Jeans!

Step 1:
Apply your preferred base coat.  In this tutorial, I am using OPI Start to Finish Base and Top Coat.  Once base coat is completely dry, apply 2 coats of any "blue" polish that would remind you of your favorite jeans!  I actually do not have one so I chose the closest which is my OPI's Yodel Me On My Cell.

AMW Reviews: Maquillage Rouge Enamel Glamour

Ahhh Maquillage, the name itself spells "glamour"!  I've been intrigued with this brand when I was just starting out on make-up!  I've longed for this because it was quite well-known in Asian market because it is from the giant Japanese Cosmetics brand Shiseido.

The Rouge Enamel Glamour comes with a lip color (in bigger sized bottle) and the opposite side is the gloss (Smaller pot).

Maquillage Rouge Enamel Glamour says ---
NEW Maquillage Rouge Enamel Glamour Moisturizes and plump the lips with 8 mouthwatering-shades!
Does not transfer to the cup or smudges when eating! Long-wearing 6 hours each application.
Contains hyaluronic acid, glycerin and Silicate.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Once purchased, the product is well packaged so you know you are getting fresh, unused product.
  • Comes with manufactured date.
  • The brush applicator of the lip color is the best I've tried. Angled strategically to help spread lip color easily.  The sponge does not disintegrate.
  • The gloss part applicator is made of doe-shaped plastic, makes it easy to apply the gloss on top without wiping off the lip color.
  • Once set, the lip color is budge-proof, the color stayed at least the whole day!
  • The gloss looks nice, gives a lovely dimension on my lips without looking like I've an oily dish!
  • The lip color glides on the lips smoothly without any friction!
  • The lip gloss isn't thick and can moisturize dry lips.
  • No weird scent.
Cons
  • The lip color dries up dry lips (like mine) if applied without the gloss.
  • Because of the super budge-proof quality, it's hard to remove this at the end of the day, need a good eyes and lips makeup remover!
  • It settles in the lines on my lips on days that my lips are super dry.
  • Very pricey for a lip product!
Overall
The budge proof quality is a huge pro!  This is also the first for me to try a lip gloss that doesn't look unnatural!  It's non-sticky and it gives a very nice dimension other lip gloss can't give!

Tips
from Shiseido
  • Apply the rouge first (larger bottle) first.
  • Wait for a minute to dry (it may feel sticky at first, don`t rub)
  • Apply gloss for a shiny, moisturzing finish!
from AMW
  • Always wipe the applicator after every use.
  • If you want to apply more, apply the first layer of lip color first, wait for a couple of seconds before you add on another layer, or 3rd.
  • Always wait for the product to "set" before you apply the gloss.  This way, the lip color will stay longer!
  • Gorgeous lips can apply the lip color by itself without the gloss for a super natural lip shade!
  • If you are used to moisturizing your lips with a balm, always remember to blot your lips prior to lip color application, as the product may glide off and the "budge proof" quality of the lipstick may be wasted!
  • Leaving the lip color for a long time without the gloss may make your lips crack, so always take the time to apply gloss if you have really dry lips.
Will I repurchase?
No for myself yes for clients.  I wouldn't mind using this on my brides who have moisturized lips to start with.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Brides or anyone who needed the long lasting lip color.  I don't recommend this to people with dry lips.

Where to purchase and how much?
At Shiseido Counters for Php1,900.00 (approx $45.00).

The shade I own is
PK386 which is warm coral shade
with gold sheen

PK386 on applicator

Gloss on Plastic Applicator

Swatch on Hand
The top most part is PK386 lip color applied alone
Middle part is the gloss
Bottom is the lip color applied with gloss on top

On lips:
Top: without Gloss
Bottom: with Gloss

Ok, I do use this on days that my lips does not feel too dry!  I can't seem to hate this product as it turns out so pretty!  I just dislike this on days that my lips are dry and chapped!  I should just dislike my lips overall! *laughs*

If not, have you tried any similar products?
