Nail Art Tutorial: News on Nails

Happy first day of September!!!  One month to go and I can't wait to have a vacation!  I'll be seeing my gorgeous Blogger Friends soon!!! (you girls know who you are *group hugs!!!*)

To start off the month, I will be posting a nail art tutorial that can't get any simpler!  You can even challenge your kids to do this (not that I recommend polish application to kids) but you know what I mean!  It's FUN to do!

Newspaper art is not an original of mine, I learned this trick via internet and I've seen a couple of the girls have done it!  Thanks to all the girls who shared this trick on YouTube and Blogs!  Sharing is definitely beautiful!

Keep in mind that the newspaper art doesn't have to be perfect, it's even better if you can choose different font styles.  That way, you get a more "dramatically old" newspaper on your nails.

Step 1:
Apply base coat to protect your nails from yellowing.  Paint your base polish.  I chose a color closest to a newspaper.  Polished used: Essie Playa Del Platinum.

AMW Bulletin: Ferretti Goes Online!

Are you a shoe lover?  Do you hate to brave the traffic and rain?

One of my favorite shoe brand Ferretti is finally opening the Ferretti Online Store tomorrow!  *yay*  After my first 2 very comfortable pairs (read my store visit here), I vouched to repurchase as I do not want to sacrifice comfort for beauty!

Best news?  The Ferretti Online Store offers absolutely FREE SHIPPING NATIONWIDE!!!

The Ferretti Online Store carries all the latest designs and has a wide selection of shoes!  Whether you like to look preppy, cute, hip or simple, you will definitely enjoy at least one of their pieces!  (I doubt it!  I ended up with 2 at first visit and I still want more!)

Are you ready?  Set???
*wait*!
Are you closing my blog to go to the Ferretti Online Store???? *pouts*
That hurts!
Oh well, the shoes are definitely prettier than me! :P

Readers' Corner: "What Brand of Lashes Do You Use for Your Clients?"

I have tried so many "inexpensive" brands of false lashes and I think it's high time I share to the readers what I use for my clients!

There are definitely a lot of brand choices out there --- from Ardell to Shu Uemura and MAC, I've used them just a number of times but I can't seem to purchase them for all clients due to budget constraint!  Some lashes costs even more expensive than a make-up service!

So on to the search for inexpensive false lashes that look and feel like the high end ones!

Before I continue, yes, KKCenterHK did send me these lashes for review but I am a long time customer way before they asked me to review their products, I will still repurchase from the company using my own money even after the review, I'm a hoarder remember? :P

When it comes to make-up for photography (photoshoots, weddings etc...), I strongly suggest my clients to use falsies no matter how "unnatural" or "uncomfortable" they think it would be!  Photos register false lashes well and it can make your eyes look bigger and brighter!

I'm glad I don't need to tell them this line: "You have to suffer a bit to be beautiful!"

Recently, I've discovered 2 of my favorite falsies design from ES Brand.  I find myself using them the most especially for newbies and brides.

ES A66
Shortest hair located at the inner corner
goes longer on the outer corner.
Creates a very natural "wispy" look

ES A111
The lash hairs are just a tad bit longer than A66
The longest hairs are located at the center making your eyes look huge!
A closer look on A111

Pros
  • Does not feel heavy at all.
  • First time lash users gave me feedback telling me the lashes feels super comfortable!
  • Looks very natural and if applied correctly, stays the whole day or until removal.
  • The band is thin and flexible so its easy to use for any eye shapes.
  • Reusable, I've tried reusing a couple of the lashes, just make sure you store them well and remove the glue after every use.
  • Inexpensive!  A box of ES A66 and ES A111 costs only $8.00 (approx Php336.00)  plus approx $5.00 (approx Php210.00) for shipping.  Each box includes 10pairs.
Cons
  • Not readily available locally, I need to order online and wait for shipping.
  • Need to pick up the package at the postal office and pay additional Php35.00.

Recently, I had a photoshoot with some of my Blogger friends (will report about this next time), I brought along with me ES A66 lashes and here's the outcome... very natural!

Thanks to the angel who took  my camera and got this shot of me in this angle! :)
I was in a hurry that I forgot to take a shot of my eyes!
(blame the hunger) :P

What's your favorite inexpensive falsies to date?

Eureka Moment: Nail Polish that's Safe and Inexpensive!

Nail polish enthusiast like myself would love to use nail polish for the rest of our lives! I cannot even imagine myself wearing open toed sandals without polish on!  But there's always a huge question at the back of my head that's bugging me... THE BIG 3 --- Formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate.

Base on research, formaldehyde is carcinogenic while toluene and dibutyl phthalate are toxins that can affect one's central nervous and reproductive systems.

UH OH....

So we're on to search for safe polish to use right?  I can hear literally hear you complaining..."Say what?... Expensive?"

EUREKA MOMENT!!!!
I finally found a polish that's affordable and does not contain the BIG 3!!!

GIRLSTUFF NAIL POLISH
You wouldn't believe how I got to know about this brand!  When I attended Studio SnR x Bobbi's Mastering the Basics workshop, I met my seatmate Janina (who also signed up for the workshop) and she saw my nail art and told me about the Girlstuff polish!  Now, I tell you why I love going out on events,  I meet a lot of cool people!!!

GirlStuff nail polish is made in France and repackaged in the Philippines.  They are free from chemicals so I was told the polishes are safe to use for all ages!  Even pregnant women, teens or young girls who like to be just like their moms can use this!

Here's the best part!  Each bottle costs Php99.75/Approx $2.00!

The product states to be vibrant in color and shine, durable, streak-free in application and dries quickly!  I'll confirm after a couple of usage so do check back for more in-depth reviews!

I currently own these 3 shades...

Machiatto

 Electric Blue

Olive

To those who can't wait....
GirlStuff is available in SM Children's Accessories Department in Mall of Asia, North, Ortigas, Makati, Dasmarinas, Las Pinas, Clark and Fairview.  Rustans Childrens' Accessories Section.

Here are the shades available for us to drool on!

Are you as excited as I am to try more shades?
