AMW Reports: Bed Head

What did all the girls in this picture do prior to taking this shot?  Let's REWIND....

**photo credits: Thanks to Kira for this shot

I came from work straight to Basement Salon, Shangri-La branch breathless because of traffic!  I am so comfortable in this salon that I rushed to the salon and ran all the way to the second floor with my black Suede Ferretti pumps.

The dear photographer helped took a shot of "breathless" me before I got the chance to check the place and say "hi" to the rest of the girls....

Wow, I realized I walk passed a buffet table and that is not acceptable for the food lover that I am. I have to give a shout out to that chicken strips!  Tastes really good!

I looked around the salon and saw familiar faces and of course, I said hi and had a bit of chit chat with them while they had their hair done!

One of the staff from Basement Salon went up to me and asked me some questions for them to figure out which type of Bed Head products they will use on me.  Here's a card that shows my type of hair.

I was shampooed, conditioned and blow dried as I enjoyed the scrumptious meal!  Ahhh, if this is the life of a princess, I wouldn't mine being a princess for at least a week! Hehehe

Bed Head has always been a household name for styling products!  I've used a couple of their styling products from Catwalk Extra Strong Mousse to Curl Rock Curl Boosters.  The S Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray was also used in one of the MTV shoot I've done makeup for.

The reason why the bloggers were invited to enjoy a quiet afternoon/night at a salon is because they want to introduce Styleshots and Urban Anti-dotes to us.

They are pricier as compared to other shampoos and conditioners but let me tell you, the products above targets your hair concerns to the dot!  They washed my hair with EXTREME STRAIGHT and no matter how much the guy tried to blow dry my hair for a bit of waves/curls, it just won't happen! It went straight til the next wash!

I may have to add that the scent stays til the next day too!  Once Mr. AMW got home, the first thing he said was..."What's that nice fruity smell?". *points to myself* Loud and proud yo!

SANA Styling W Brow Review

My brows are thick and full!  They actually work well on my "round" face!  Okay, according to my makeup teacher, I do have a different face shape but in the eyes of the owner, it's simply ROUND!  *laughs*

Don't worry, I already embraced my round face so all I can do for now iswork on it and practice highlighting my features that I want to pop!  That includes my brows!

My hair has been lightened and using a regular eyebrow pencil to fill in the brows can make it look "good" but it doesn't match the color of my hair!  That's were the power of eyebrow gel comes in!

There's one famous eyebrow gel from MAC called Girl Boy and it works well on my face but I am still on the lookout for another version!  I actually got to purchase one during my Singapore trip at Sasa.

SANA Styling W Brow in SB3 (Light Brown)

The reason why I chose this over the MAC brow gel, aside from the right shade is....

AMW Version: This Is How I Do It with Revlon's CustomEyes

Remember my review on Revlon's CustomEyes Shadow and Liner in Metallic Chic?  Since I tested on the eye makeup, I might as well continue and complete the rest of my face as I do miss my own AMW Version!

Don't get me wrong, the palette isn't a miss, I did say it works better than the rest of the Revlon palettes but I personally like the other palettes from the same line in different shades!

I have been reaching out for this palette a couple of times and even used the "golden yellow" shadow shade all over the lids when I visited the cemetery!  I know it sounds crazy but hey, I do want to look good when I visit my loved ones who are in heavens!

My finished eye makeup

AMW Diagram

Before the eyeshadow application:
Since the shadow does not adhere to my lids, I apply a good amount of MAC Paint Pot in Coral Crepe (Thanks Connie for this!).  Feel free to use any paint pot shades or eyelid primer.

Step 1:
With a flat shader brush, apply the bronzey-orange eyeshadow all over the lids with a gently "patting" motion.  Use a huge fluffy brush to remove fall outs if necessary.

Step 2:
With a blending brush, apply the metallic green shadow on the outer-v including the outer lower lash line.  Apply more as needed and blend with a wiper motion.

Step 3:
With the other side of the flat shader brush, pat on the Golden Yellow eyeshadow shade at the center of your lid to blend in the bronzey orange and metallic green shade.

Step 4:
With a pencil brush, apply the silver gray shade or the "liner" of the palette on the outer line of the eyes and outer lower lash line.  Applying with this style can change a bit of your eye shape giving an illusion of bigger eyes.

Lined my eyes with Revlon's CustomEyes Liquid Liner in Black
Apply Lancome's Le Crayon Khol in Teal on the waterline
Curled my lashes and applied coats of Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Extreme in Black.

Voila!  Quick and easy eye makeup
Using ONE palette!

Scroll down to check out what I used
for the rest of my face

For the Face:
Mary Kay TimeWise Luminous-wear Liquid Foundation in Beige
L'Oreal White Perfect Pearl Duo Tone Whitening Powder in Golden Ivory

For the Cheeks:
MAC Mineralize Blush in Gentle

For the Lips:
MAC Lustre Lipstick in Giddy

Thanks Kirsten and Gay for the gorgeous MAC gifts! I can't stop using them since the day I got them! :)  Here's my final look!

Oooh Thursday is the day!  You lucky readers are off for another weekend soon!  Me, I have 2 makeup gigs to do on Saturdays and Sundays so I won't be having any weekend but I'm not complaining!  I'm happy!

AMW Reviews: KATE Mineral Liquid Foundation

I have always been a powder foundation gal, it's concealer, then pat with my favorite foundation then I'm ready to go!

On days I need to prettify myself, I tend to reach out for my favorite Paul & Joe Creamy Matte Foundation, my Graftobian High Def Foundation, Revlon CustomEyes foundation and recently, the KATE Mineral Liquid Foundation and I'm not just reaching out on this during special events but its turning out to be my daily concealer/foundation.

Read on to know if this product is also meant for you!

KATE Mineral Liquid Foundation says ---

An advanced mineral liquid foundation that is soft on skin and covers visible pores.
  • Double-effect mineral powder (skin protection and visible pore coverage)
  • Multiple moisturizing ingredients (olive oil, jojoba oil and almond oil)
  • Paraben (preservative) free
  • Ultraviolet-absorber free
  • Fragrance free
  • SPF20 PA++
Available in 3 colors (from lightest to darkest) : OC-B, OC-C, OC-D
Size: 25g
Ingredients list (taken from SOURCE):

AMW says ---
Pros
  • My favorite type of packaging (tube-like) and pointed tip which makes it easy to clean up after every use.
  • Feels smooth and light on skin.
  • Blends into my skin easily like my 2nd skin.
  • Can even out skin tone and gives a very natural finish.
  • Free of parabens and fragrance, which has lesser chance to cause skin irritations on sensitive skin.
  • Has SPF.
  • Does not give a white cast even on directly flash.  Again, this looks like second skin.
  • Gives a matte finish yet it does not dry out my skin.
  • Doubles up as a concealer on days you needed a light coverage.  I like using this for my under eye circles.
  • Build-able coverage from light to medium!
  • Does not settle in lines.
Cons
  • Coverage won't be enough for acne skin.
  • Limited shades.
  • A bit pricey as compared to other liquid foundation of the same price and offers more net weight.  But come to think of it, this is a mineral version!
Overall
This fits the bill on my requirement for daily liquid foundation that does not feel heavy or weighs on my skin even on hot and humid days.  My only concern is the coverage especially for those of you who needed more.  I like the fact that no matter how much I pile on this foundation, it never cakes and it always turn out natural looking.

Tips
  • Oily skinned girls who like the liquid version of mineral foundation can use an oil control primer prior to foundation application.
  • Moisturize prior to foundation application or use separate sunblock if you are planning to stay under the sun for long period of time.
  • Apply more on areas that needs more coverage.
  • Test by  using a foundation brush, stippling brush, flat top brush, sponge or fingers in foundation application.  For this particular product, I prefer using a FLAT TOP Kabuki Brush to apply for medium to heavier coverage.
  • Pat on translucent setting powder to maintain the "natural look".
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Normal, Combination and Dry Skin individuals.  This is also a perfect liquid foundation for young adults getting ready to use makeup but is scared of chemicals on skin.

Where to purchase and how much?
At Watsons for Php900.00 (approx $20.90).

OC-C shade
Light, creamy texture

Once spread it all over my hand
It goes matte and easy to blend

Check mark has OC-B foundation while the x mark is my natural skin color
The shade matched perfectly!

Left side of the photo is my bare face
Right side applied with KATE Mineral Liquid Foundation in OC-B
Lightened up my skin redness and allergies
Under eye darkness decreased.

What's the lightest liquid foundation you've tried to date?
Have you tried any other mineral based liquid foundation?
Can you let me know the brand and how it worked for you?
