How to Trim and Groom Your Brows the Easiest Way

Today, I will be sharing "my way" on how to trim and groom the brows the easiest way!  Keep in mind that it takes practice, patience and a whole lot of effort!  I hope my mini tutorial will help you guys who are scared to fix their own brows!

If I haven't stress enough, well, let me say this again.  Eyebrows can make or break your appearance and I learned that a bit too late!  I'm not asking you to start staring at your brows in front of the mirror right this very moment and start plucking like there's no tomorrow!  Since this tutorial is done for beginners, here are some tips you should at least consider before trimming and grooming your brows.

Have your brows shaped, cut and groomed by professionals!  Professionals consider your face shape before grooming your brows and the right arch and thickness are also considered to match your face.  You can go for an inexpensive Php50.00 (approx $1.00) eyebrow shaving from neighborhood salon.  If you're used to having your brows done, you may try Benefit Brow Bar or Browhaus for eyebrow waxing needs. Or if you have super high tolerance to pain, you may also give Eyebrow Threading a try!

I've done all three, and my favorite would be eyebrow waxing but due to time constraint, I always end up in our neighboring salon for a quick shave at a super affordable price!

Now that you took your pick on how to have your brows professionally done, what's next?  Well, let's start taking care of the perfect shape to prolong the professional visit and trust me, it helps save your hard-earned money!

Step 1:
Stand in front of the mirror and check the "original" shape done by the professional.  Always start with clean brows free from brow products.

AMW Reviews: Bobbi Brown Intensifying Long-Wear Mascara

Happy Monday AMW Friends!  How was your weekend?  Mine was great!  I was able to leave the house last Saturday and do a bit of shopping!  I went a bit overboard and got the headache on Sunday!  *laughs*  It's okay, as I get to visit my mom and dad too!!!

Today, I will be sharing a review on Bobbi Brown's Intensifying Long-Wear Mascara.

The mascara comes in a gorgeous metallic mascara tube with a slim brush that makes it unique as compared to other mascaras I've used!

Bobbi Brown says ---
Our longest-lasting mascara not only delivers lush, thick lashes but can stand up to the elements (and even a few tears) for up to 16 hours. For maximum volume and results, we've designed a new brush with unique bristles that easily reaches small lashes and instantly builds lashes without clumping. Best of all? There's no need for an eye makeup remover, because Intensifying Long-Wear Mascara washes off effortlessly with warm water.

Product info

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Ease of application due to brush size.
  • I can reach even the shortest lashes without messing up my eye makeup.
  • This mascara works perfectly for the lower lashes.  (Even non-existent ones like mine)
  • No eye irritations.
  • No clumping.
  • Lengthens
  • Doesn't weigh down the curl.
  • Formulation is just right, not too wet nor dry.
  • Comes off easily with regular eye makeup remover.
Cons
  • If you're looking for "drama" this mascara isn't for you.
  • Doesn't have the volume some may want.
  • This is indeed a long-wear mascara as mine lasted more than 12 hours, the downside is, due to humidity and probably oily lids, you may find some flakes that would transfer.  (but not too much)
  • Price.
Overall
Gives the lashes extra definition and length in a very natural way!  The strong point of this mascara is its wonderful wand that makes it easier to reach even the shortest lashes.  Formulation is just right so it never clump my lashes or weigh down the curl.

Tips
  • Curl your lashes well prior to mascara application.
  • Coat your lashes as many times as you can as this mascara never clumps.
  • If you are the type who tends to scratch your eyes, take cotton buds with you as some of the mascara flakes may appear mid-day.
  • Remove with gentle eye makeup remover or warm water with soap.
Will I repurchase?
Yes.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone looking for natural-looking lashes but with the great definition and natural effect!

Where to purchase and how much?
At local Bobbi Brown counters for Php1,550 (approx $36.00).

In this photo, it was shown that my lashes are longer and clumps-free

Side view
The curl of my lashes stayed even after 6 hours

Have you tried any products from the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear line?
Would you give this super lengthening, unique brush mascara a try?

I personally have been using this on days I wear minimal to almost no makeup as it gives my eyes the definition I want even without eyeshadow or liner!

Weekend Food Tripping at: President Grand Palace Restaurant

Happy Sunday AMW friends!  Guess what?  I'm back!!!  Well, I'm not saying I'm back with a vengeance as I still have the same metallic taste inside my mouth which makes me lose appetite but at least, I'm happy to announce that my "throwing up" moments have lessened as I'm going for my 14th week of Pregnancy!  *woot*!

I haven't been eating well for the past weeks that why I skipped 2 food posts, well, it doesn't mean I'm not eating at all but my taste buds have been messing up with my favorite food and I can't seem to enjoy the dishes I enjoy in the past!

A couple of weeks ago, my dad celebrated his "Chinese Birthday" when my relatives from Canada were all here.  He picked President as the restaurant was known to search good, quality Chinese dish for decades!  (Side note:  The last time we celebrated something in this restaurant was my college graduation!  That was years and years and years ago!!!)

My dad made reservations a week before the event and picked his choice of set menu which is good for 12 persons!

5 Kinds of Cold Cuts

Japanese Cutter Fish Saute with Fresh Asparagus

Fried Stuffed Fish on Toast

"Sibut" Soup

Native chicken with Chinese Herbs

Braised Double Chinese Mushroom

Fried Pigeon A'la President

Baked Crab with Ginger and Onion

Steamed Lapu-Lapu

Special Pastry
"Buchi"

Almond Bean Curd with Lychees

Overall, the food were all great and they are served fresh and flavorful!  President Grand Palace Restaurant never fails in giving us authentic Chinese dishes.  The set menu does not charge you tax or service charge (great) but they do not allow Senior Citizen ID.

President Grand Palace Restaurant

Have you dined in President at Chinatown?
If yes, how was your experience?

I Wonder: "Too Pretty To Use?"

Happy Saturday AMW Friends!
Today, I will out for almost a whole day and I wish I can make it without feeling nauseous or tired!  Wish me luck!

Before I leave home, here's a thought that has been bugging me for months!  *laughs*  I am the type of consumer who wouldn't mind using pretty looking cosmetics, I don't get attached to them and I'm one practical person who would always say: "What's the point of buying and not using?"

Today, I am eating my words!  When dear blogger friend Hedley sent me a gift "just because" she's sweet and she wants to brighten up my day, she gifted me Guerlain Ombre Eclat 4 Shades eyeshadow palette because it reminded her of me!

Housed in a gorgeous, shiny, black packaging.
Judging by my nail art, the photo was taken November last year!  *hides in embarrassment*  And you guessed it right, it's still sitting pretty on my makeup storage and mind you, I do look at it once in awhile and just admire the gorgeous shades and patterns.  (I just realized I'm a freak!  lol)

Sorry Hedley, I tried, so many times on picking the sponge applicator and mumble a silent apology for ruining such beautiful creature, but I always ended up a loser!

Can you blame me?

So today, I WONDER:
"Have you been keeping a particular makeup just because it's too pretty to use?"

As for me, this happened to me ONCE and it was this particular Guerlain 4 Shades Eyeshadow Palette.  The reason must be because it was a gift to me plus the super pretty and unique patterns!  Please, don't give me a sermon!!!  Promise, I will use it before the year ends!

AMW Reviews: MAC Mineralized Charged Water Cleanser

When cleansing water came out, people were dying to give them a try as everyone dislikes the sticky, greasy feel of a regular makeup remover!

My first cleansing water isn't available locally and because I've been very persistent to try unique products (that's the reason why this blog was born), I ordered my Mandom Cleansing Express AgeCare online.

How was the experience?  It feels like water and cleanses well, but the product doesn't smell as nice as I want it to.  Plus, there were times it stung my eyes!  Well, those tiny boo-boos are okay but again, the product isn't available here and I don't want to risk ordering online again and wait for eternity for my products to arrive!

What does a girl do?  Look for alternatives!  And different western brands are coming up with cleansing water and I'm glad to give the MAC version a try!

MAC says ---
A lightweight cleanser formulated with our ionized Super-Duo Charged Water technology. Removes all makeup (except waterproof and longwearing) with a wipe - no rinse-off required. Leaves skin nourished, soft, absolutely clean.

Size: 100ml

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Super cute packaging.
  • Has a fresh, light scent.
  • Very gentle.  Doesn't sting my eyes or face.
  • Have nice glitters that make you feel good yet don't stay on your skin.
  • Does remove a good amount of non-waterproof makeup.
  • Have the "charged water" benefits we get while cleansing.
  • Leaves skin refreshed and hydrated.
Cons
  • Since our country is humid, most of us would use long-wearing and waterproof makeup and this product isn't meant to remove these types of makeup.
  • Price.
Overall
Gives a nice refreshing feel on skin upon application.  Removes a good amount of regular face makeup, blush, eyeshadow and lipstick.  This product is not meant to remove waterproof and longwearing makeup.
Tips
  • For light makeup wearers, on a non-lazy dog, it helps to still wash your face with water to make sure all the makeup is gone.
  • When it comes to makeup cleansing, using a cotton pad is always better than cotton balls.
  • After facial cleansing, it helps to use the MAC Mineralized Charged Water Cleanser to remove facial cleanser residue plus oil prior to skincare/makeup application.
  • This product can also work prior to makeup cleansing, lesser cleansing oil will be used if the rest of your face makeup has been removed by the MAC Mineralized Charged Water Cleanser.
Will I repurchase?
Professionally speaking, YES.  For personal use --- NO, because I'm a waterproof and longwearing makeup wearer, I would rather repurchase the MAC Cleanse Off Oil which I tried when I bought a mini set in Hong Kong.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Makeup artists to cleanse the clients' face prior to makeup application.  Light to almost no makeup wearers too as this is a lovely way to refresh and remove some makeup midday or at the end of the day.

Where to purchase and how much?
At local MAC counters for Php1,470.00 (approx $34.20).

Photos

The product comes with a "pour me" bottle and it's well sealed upon purchased.  Looking closely, there are lovely tiny sparkles of gold that doesn't stick to your face upon usage.

Would you give MAC Mineralized Charged Water Cleanser a try considering it doesn't remove waterproof and longwearing makeup?
As a professional makeup artist, I actually like to use this in cleansing a client's face!  It gives them a nice refreshing feel and I always get compliments for using such product.
