Look Fresh with Benefit’s Play Tint

How is it 2022 and we are still on Alert Level 3 and how crazy it is that almost everyone I know is suffering from COVID?  Particularly OMICRON!  Ahh, I wish everybody good health and instant recovery (if they got Covid) and I hope wherever you are reading this post to be safe and healthy!

Since I can only cheat “Freshness” — things are getting busier each day even if I’m only staying home.  So a sudden Zoom get-together with friends or a client meeting, I depend on quick fixes!  One discoverey for year 2022?

Benefit’s Play Tint Cheek and Lip Stain.  Oh I just love this shade so much!

Benefit PlayTint Review by Nikki Tiu of askmewhats.com

This shade is described as Pink-Lemonade Hue.  Truth be told, Pinks does not look good on my skintone that is why I am surprised Play Tint works.  It must be the “yellow” hue it added that works for individuals who have very warm undertone.  How good it is that they were able to create a bright pink shade that works for very yellow skin?  I am just as surprised as you!

Talk about the texutre, it isn’t the usual lip and cheek stain that ahem “stains” your cheeks orfingers.  It is a nice gel-water consistency making it easy to blend and 99% of the time, whether I do it with my mind off somewhere, the effect is still great!  No Sience involved here.  You just dot, apply and blend!

Make Up For Ever Water Blend vs. Water Tone

Make Up For Ever’s Water Blend foundation is the ONLY foundation I use whenever I do underwater shoots.  I depend on it so much I am so scared to finish a bottle so I always have backups in 3 shades (for mixing).

After years, Make Up For Ever released a new tint called WaterTone Skin Perfecting Fresh Foundation.

NOTE: Water Tone does not replace Water Blend but I find the texture and consistency to be similary thus doing a side by side review for those who own the Water Blend.

Make Up For Ever Eater Blend vs. Water Tone

With the given situation, I haven’t tried this new foundation underwater but I did the water test (face washing).  I’ll tell more about my review as you read further down.  But here’s a swatch on both Water Blend and Water Tone.

As you can see, Water Blend is more “watery” while Water Tone has thicker consistency.  Still water-like in terms of application and blendabilility.  Both are easy to work with.

Water Blend has less coverage as you can see, the foundation almost disappears on the left side while the Water Tone side has thicker coverage.

Yayoi Philippines Online Food Delivery Review

Since COVID-19 broke, I have been cooking nonstop.  For both my family and my in-laws who live close by.  Cooking for 2 families is stressful - no matter how much you love to cook.  There are days you call the “Cookerist’ BLOCK”  - I invented that…but I am sure anyone in charge of the kitchen can relate.  Especially if you have picky eaters in the house.

Every weekend, we try to do online restaurant delivery for me to “refresh” my state of mind LOL.  Thankfully, there are more options to choose from and I am so happy to include this restaurant on rotation!  YAYOI Philippines - hailed as the no. 1 teishoku restaurant worldwide!  The restaurant is located in Megamall, Mall of Asia, BGC, Salcedo Makati, North EDSA QC, Eastwood QC and UP Town Center QC.

No wonder the restaurant is still thriving amidst pandemic because they really serve good quality dishes.

I have to add that I love how they pack and have everything labeled clearly!  Even instructions!

Purple Stare Look

I haven’t been playing eye makeup for YEARS!

Ever since I grew …ahem..older, as you can see, I have stopped myself from using colors just because….I got lazier, and I felt that the pandemic made it harder for me to enjoy colorful make up.

I have been loving the color Purple because of BTS!  So I’ve decided to make this an Ode to me being an ARMY!

Check out the make up products and brands I’ve used.

Products used:
@hudabeauty Naughty Palette from @sephoraph
@kpalette_ph Procast Eyeliner in Black
@imagic.ph Pencil liner in black
@lauramercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
@nipponph lashes
@makeupforever Blush and lipstick
- Extreme Lip Plumper from @barrym.ph deal

Hope this gives you a quick idea on how to recreate this look, if you want to!

How To Choose The Right Base Makeup

As a makeup artist, I was told so many times by my clients that the most difficult part in trying out makeup is to pick or buy the right base makeup shade.

I can’t blame them, as a Pro MUA, that was one of the most challenging thing for me to pick the right foundation or “mix” the right foundationt to suit the skin tone of my client.  Trust me when I say, the huge horror as a make up artist is when clients take photos with “flash” and they end up looking like floating heads!

Worst, they would complain and tell you their foundation DO NOT MATCH!

After  more than a decade of practice, I’ve got my tips and trick right up my sleeves and I am sharing it here.

Very important tip: Pick 2-3 shades you think is closest to your skintone based from Sales Associate or your own eyes!

As for this tutorial, I am using Laura Mercier’s newest base - a Tinted Moisturizer that says to give breathable coverage and a diffused matte finish.  This is an oil-free formulation that feels very light on skin and gives good amount of coverage.  This is one of my favorite type of tinted moisturizer to date as most “TMs” tend to be more of a moisturizer with a hint of “color”.  As for Laura Mercier’s version, it seems like an equal amount of moisturizer and foundation!

Available in 7 Shades locally

After using this a couple of times here’s my quick review:
  • Nice packaging, squeeze tube with pointed tip making it easy to dispense the correct amount of product.
  • Very comfortable and lightweight.
  • Coverage is nice for a tinted moisturizer, buildable.
  • Does not clog my skin.
  • Works even for my dry patches.  Skin stays hydrated all day.
  • Color stays true, did not turn dark or create white cast.
  • Has SPF20, enough for indoors.  (Please wear separate sunscreen if you stay outdoors).
  • Oil-free, talc-free, sulfate-free.
  • Works for my sensitive skin.
