How to: Dark Lips and Dark Eyes

Hello AMW Friends!
Today is the day, the day you probably won't see often!  Me in dark eye makeup and lips!  But I like the change, I like to go out of my comfort zone once in awhile and love it even more when my husband says: "I have a new wife!"  #lol #cheesy

So here's my super quick and easy dark eyes and dark lips look!  I hope you like it!

By the way, whenever you can't seem to find a perfect inspiration, try to focus on one part of your face before you proceed with the rest of your makeup.  As for me, I went ahead and applied this dark red lipstick shade from L'Oreal Matte Red Collection, the shade is Pure Garnet.

Now on to the eyes, I usually do not wear eye primers because my lids aren't oily, but for dark eye makeup, fall-outs are possible, so I picked The Body Shop All-in-One InstaBlur Eye.  I applied this all over lids.

For this tutorial, I used mainly the Pixi Palette.  I picked the medium brown shade and used this as my base color.  I apply all over my lids not going beyond the crease, and used the same shade to apply on outer third of my lower lashline.

Picking the darkest shade which is more of a "battle green" with gold flecks, I applied this on my outer-v with a pencil brush, picking a clean blending brush to blend harsh edges.

As always, I want to "highlight" key areas of my "dark eye makeup", so picking the lightest shade from the palette, I applied at the center of my lid to create dimension.

Now since the lipstick shade is strong, I would like to tone my eye makeup down by using an eyeliner pencil instead of the usual liquid/gel liner.  I find this better and more wearable on day to day basis.

But of course, feel free to pick your favorite liners and do a wing if you like it!

Curl your lashes and apply mascara.  Will reveal and review this mascara soon!

Since both eyes and lips are strong, I wanted to soften my features by using my favorite soft pink blush from Benefit Box O' Powder in Hervana.

This step is optional, I don't usually wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis so whenever I get to really create a full-faced look, I like to spritz with my favorite "mist" to soften the "powder effect" or just to refresh myself.

Used YADAH Anti-T Mist.

Finish!

This effect is more Grungy in the sense but not "messy" or dirty at all.
Well my mind is...come here baby! *winks*

Hope you like it!

  3. For those with chinita eyes like us, i suggest that we use an even darker shade for the outer corners, to have a hooded and deeper eye effect. Im not sure kung sa photo resolution lang or something. I also like experimenting on eye makeup kasi. :)

    1. Yes I did, and it is indeed very dark in person, it is in the photo lang talaga and sad nga in this particular tutorial, it didn't capture the whole shadow effect. the son is asleep kasi so that's the perks of having a son and trying so hard not to use flash! :P
