Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Effect Makeup, Prime + Anti Shine Review + New Insta-Fix!

Year 2010, Revlon first came out with their PhotoReady make up line and I tried 3 of their products --- Revlon PhotoReady Liquid Foundation, Powder and Translucent Finisher and I was impressed!  For a drugstore brand, I highly recommend them especially for start-up make up artists!

Fast forward to 2015, they came up with an even better PhotoReady line, this time, their liquid foundation has an "Airbrush Effect" and they added up an Insta-Fix (perfect for those selfies) and a face primer that has a balm-y texture!

This multi use balm can be worn alone, under or over makeup to prime and smooth skin and to eliminate shine. It erases the look of pores and imperfections for a perfected look.

When it comes to primers, I find using a "balm" primer will never work for me because I have dry patches on my skin!  The first balm primer I've tried is Dr. Feelgood from Benefit and my thoughts?  Great for others but I can live without it.

So when I got hold of the Revlon Photoready Prime + Anti Shine Balm, I had a feeling I'll just give it away after testing this out!  Surprisingly, it stays in my vanity!  Let me tell you why this product is not the "hohum" product I expected.

The rectangular shaped packaging has a balm and a sponge.  The size as the sponge is almost the same as the balm.  This product can be applied using clean fingers or the sponge may also be useful for "hygiene" purpose.

This Prime + Anti Shine Balm has a slight white shade that goes clear/transparent after blending.  This product can be used alone, before foundation application or even on top of makeup as a retouch/anti-shine product!

To help you out, it may seem like the product wasn't doing it's job, but looking closely at the encircled part of the photo below, it can be seen that I have some obvious line sand pores at the center of my face (around the cheek near my nose).  With a small amount of Revlon PhotoReady Prime + Anti-Shine Balm, it does "blur out" some of the obvious pores and can help even out some dry patches around the skin!  My makeup looks more "polished" and flawless at the same time, makeup  stays longer!

Keep in mind that I have normal/dry skin to start with, I can't vouch about the oil-control part of this product for users with extremely oily skin!  I aave a feeling though that this product won't be enough due to the "smooth" texture it gives.  Yes, this product may help mattify the skin a bit but not enough to control excess sebum.

Now when we talk about Airbrush Effect, this may have brought me back to the previous "airbrush type of foundation" I've tried from the same brand.  Remember Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup?   This product was housed in a "tin can" and if they have the same name "Airbrush" attached to the product name, please do not expect both to be exactly the same as they are totally different!

How different?  The Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup is an OKAY product for me but this one is one of the BEST liquid foundation Revlon came up with!  My favorite from the line used to be ColorStay (for oily skin) and Custom Creations (for start-up make up artists).  Now, I only have ONE name to blurt out when someone ask for my favorite Revlon foundation --- The Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Effect --- aka THIS ONE!  Read further below because I'll show you WHY!

This foundation also comes in a glass bottle/same packaging as the regular Revlon Photoready Foundation.  It has the same light formulation as the previous one BUT, there is something unique with the "airbrushed" version.

Well blended
As seen on swatch, the foundation has a natural "sheen" or "radiance" upon application.  Thus, this foundation is perfect for normal and dry skin!  Don't get me wrong, oily-skinned users can still try this out, you only need to set it with a powder.

Before and After
This foundation is oil-free, lightweight and it gives medium to medium-heavy coverage!  The best part about this foundation is that, no matter how many layers you apply, the effect is extremely natural and it gives this radiating-glow-from-within!

See for yourself!
That, my friend is non-Photoshopped and I did not use any concealer!

And since the Airbrush foundation works extremely well, I find myself not using the Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix at all!  So instead of giving my initial thoughts on this, I'll do a separate review on this instead because, *blushes* I still haven't gotten the chance to try this out!  I'm so blinded by the Airbrush Foundation I swear!

Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix
This product is supposed to be a foundation in a stick, at the same time, works as an Instant Skin Retoucher (or in my own terms --- a concealer?)

As I said it on my first impressions on Snapchat, this product reminds me so much of the Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Stick 8-in-1 Skin Transformer --- I won't be surprised if they work the same!  But your thoughts and experiences will be well appreciated if you comment below!

Let me know if you want me to do an in-depth review on this!  Give me a push, as I'm too lazy sometimes!  hahaha  As for now, I will share my half-face test after using Revlon PhotoReady Prime + Anti Shine Primer and Airbrush Effect Makeup Foundation.

Ahhh, I'm so in love!
Not with myself, but with the products used! :P

Overall, I am very happy with this line that they came up with!  My vote will definitely go to this liquid foundation!  It definitely gives me that airbrushed effect!

How do you feel about this Revlon PhotoReady line?
Have you tried these?

  1. I have dry skin and most stick foundations emphasize my dry patches and flakiness. I have no such problem with the instafix. I have two sticks at the moment- one I keep in my bag for touch up. I hope you get to try yours soon.
