Askmewhats Reviews: Clinique Super Defense SPF25 Age Defense Moisturizer

Moisturizers...
How I love thee...

Using the right moisturizer does make a huge difference to your skin! I've said it before and I'll say it again, the right skincare is vital to have good skin!

Looking back at my Clinique Counter visit, I am really excited to try the new Clinique Super Defense SPF25 Age Defense Moisturizer (mine is in Very Dry to Dry formulation) ! After 2 weeks of daily usage, how well did this score?

Smile and read on!!!

Clinique Super Defense SPF25/PA++ says ---

Skin's most complete defense against the visible signs of aging in daily moisturizer. Arms it to fight the effects of emotional stress, which can damage skin with effect much like sun and pollution. Helps neutralize UVA and UVB

Available in

  • Very dry to dry
  • Very Oily to Oily

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • non-oily
  • doesn't feel heavy on skin
  • has sunblock SPF25
  • absorbs quickly
  • no bad skin reactions
  • doesn't have the yucky sunblock smell, its not totally scent free though, it has a mild minty scent that disappear right after application (bearable for me)
  • this huge jar will last more than 6 months
Cons
  • quite pricey

Overall

I am honestly excited about this product because this product was made to address comprehensive list of assaults that can prematurely age skin.
  • physiological stress
  • emotional stress
  • environmental stress - such as sun and pollution
I know this is the reformulated version. I haven't tried the old formula so I cannot really compare it to the newer one. I can only compare this to other Clinique moisturizers I've used, the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion and the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Skin Relief. This feels creamier and a bit heavier.

Texture is creamy
not runny at all

Slowly blend this into your skin

Skin absorbs the product easily

Here's what I've done to test this product ---

1. Clinique's 3-step program:
works pretty well for people with dry skin like mine, but for people with oily skin, they could feel uncomfortable adding extra moisture on top of a moisturizer.

2. Clinique Cleanser and Toner (no moisturizer):
meaning, I only use the first 2 step then proceed to this product. I like how this feels, I like this better because my skin is moisturized without the heavy feel.

3. Non- Clinique Cleanser and Toner:
Same effect as no. 2, skin did not react negatively.

---------------------------------------

Did you know that?

I had bad food allergies and it reacted badly on my cheeks a couple of weeks ago. I used this as my day time moisturizer and it relieves the itchiness and dryness without causing more trouble for my skin! This product is definitely safe to use for the most sensitive skin. (in my opinion)

---------------------------------------

Tips
  • apply every morning after your usual skin care routine
  • do not apply so much at once, a little goes a long way
  • wait for a couple of minutes for the product to absorb before putting on make up
  • check with the counter advisers if you fall under the category of Oily or Dry skin
  • use a spoon to get the product or transfer your moisturizer into smaller jars to prevent the whole jar to be exposed at once

Will I purchase?

Yes. I am almost done with my Clinique's DDML, this will be my day moisturizer!

Where can you purchase and how much?

At Clinique counters at any Rustan's mall for Php2,900 (approx $60.00)

Nail Art Tutorial: "Dainty Flowers on Bloody Red" Nails

Wow! I am glad I put up a Red Lipstick topic as I have taken down notes and will definitely check out some red lipsticks you gals have recommended. I am also glad to know that I'm not alone on being uncomfortable in wearing one :D

Can I continue the love for red?
I am officially announcing today the National Red Nail Polish Day! :D
Another nail art tutorial from yours truly!
I may not be a red lipstick wearer but hey! I can always start with the polish right?

Let me start the steps and I have to say again and again, I am in no way expert to nail art but I love doing it and I love sharing what I learn out of my own experience :) Enjoy!

Step 1:

Apply 2 coats of any bright red nail polish. In my case, I used The Face Shop's Red Polish

Step 2:

After the 2 coats of polish is dry, apply dots using a Nail Art Pen or any dotting tool to create petals.

Add more dots
if you want more flowers

Step 3:

Push in the dots using a needle to create a more detailed flower look

If you're nails are as long as mine or longer, apply more dots to create more flowers. Check out photo below

Step 4:

Apply a different colored dot for the flower bud

Step 5:

Apply a green polish shaping a teardrop as an illusion of leaves. Does not have to be perfect.

Step 6:

Making sure the nail art is dry. Thinly apply any glittery polish on top of the nail art. I use Caronia Silver Glitter Polish.

Step 7:

Apply a coat of Top Coat. I am using my favorite TFS Top Coat.

Here's as dainty and as red my nails can get Hope you like it!

Again, the flower nail art doesn't have to be perfect!
Seldom do we see flowers that are exactly alike in real life right?

Same with nail art :)

Stay happy!

Stay RED happy!

I Wonder: What's your "THE RED" lipstick?

Happy Red Lippie Day everyone?
Am I announcing today the National Red Lipstick Day?
I can see some hands raising! *nudge nudge*

The reason why I announce today the National Red Lipstick Day due to my own selfish reasons.

  • I am not a red lippie person
  • but I wanted to be one
  • I want to own ONE good red lipstick shade
  • I don't want to spend a lot on red lipsticks
  • I want to purchase THE BEST!
IS THIS POSSIBLE? You tell me!

The first time I've tried red lipstick in public was last year, during the CAS Cosmetic Fair and the lovely people from Paul & Joe gave me a push to try the Paul & Joe red lipstick. (sorry I forgot the shade) but Von applied it on me and I went home feeling conscious but kinda got used to it. Just for that day *winks*

I've done a couple of looks
using shades of red lipstick

And who could forget my "whore" Look?
The brightest red lipstick I wore EVER!

And my lovely friend Grace sent me
2 Elizabeth Arden High Shine Lip gloss
in shades of RED because she urges me to wear it!

I tried one in Raspberry Glace

But am I a convert?
Unfortunately, NO!
But you know what?
I just turned 30!
My doors aren't close yet!
I want to know...

"What's the best Red Lipstick you've tried
and you think would look good to anybody?"

Oooh I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Stay Happy!

Askmewhats Version: The Rocker Look

Blog reader Mitch requested for a "rakista" (Tagalog term) or "rocker" look.
Easy right? I can easily pull out a photo for a rocker look like this :D

**photo from promspot.com

But! She had a special request! She wanted me to do a rocker look that doesn't use any black e/s! She felt black e/s makes her look like she got punched on the eye. Plus she wanted a look that can be worn when she goes out during weekends with friends. So I thought of a look that has a "rocker" flavor to it but wearable! :D Hope you like it!

Here's my final look

Askmewhats Diagram time!

Primed my lids with UDPP prior to e/s application :D

Step 1:

Apply NYX Morrocco (sis Gracie, thanks) e/s or any e/s you like to create this Rocker Look. I pat on the color with my small crease brush applying all over the lid going a little bit above it.
Using the same brush, apply the same color on the lashline just below the waterline.

Step 2:

Blend in the colors by using any brown colored e/s on the crease with a big crease brush, blending in the colors. I used Stage e/s in Macchiato. (thanks So Loverly girls)

Step 3:

Pat on the brow bone with a shimmery white e/s. (Yasumi dear, thanks for this)

Step 4:

Apply any creamy eyeliner all over the lashline and smudge it out. Apply this also on the waterline.

Here's my final
non-black e/s

Rocker look :D

And here's what I used on the rest of my face

MAC Mineralize SkinFinish NC35
Mixed with CG Tru Blend no. 1

NYX Blush in Desert Rose
using my Shu Uemura Face brush

And for my lips
since my eye make up in real life is really bright

I opted for nude lips
EYEKO Fat Blam in Touch of Iridiscent Pink
top with CG Wetslicks in Toast-ed

And here's my super final look

Brace yourself
Girl trying to go wild :(

Hope this is helpful!
Don't say I didn't warn you
that I'm no rocker in real life!
But it's nice to do something for a change!
I enjoyed this! Thanks for the request
Stay happy!
