Askmewhats Reviews: MAC Mineralized SkinFinish Light

Finally! I have my own MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Foundation! I am religiously using this to top my BB cream or to retouch my face midday :) Time for a review!!!

MAC Mineralized SkinFinish Natural says ---

A luxurious domed face powder with minerals, slowly baked to provide a dimensional yet natural-matte finish. Provides perfect low coverage. Use to set and fix foundation or as a touch-up throughout the day.

Ingredients:

Talc, Nylon-12, Dimethicone, Polysorbate 20, Isopropyl Palmitate, Jojoba Seed Oil, Yeast Extract, Tocopheryl Actetate, Retinyl Plamitate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, BHT, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • natural looking
  • very smooth to the skin
  • no matter how many times I touch up, does not cake on me
  • gives out a dewy look
  • does not create a white cast
Cons
  • not the best pal for oil control
  • packaging, I would prefer if they have a small compartment for a small brush or puff, not everyone have the retractable brush to carry along
  • the powder tends to scatter when you use a powder, it messes up the case (OC-ness in me, sorry)
  • a bit pricey for a setting powder, but it lasts long
Overall

MAC Mineralized SkinFinish Natural is the answer for people who likes to re-touch in the middle of the day. This is perfect for someone who likes natural or sheer coverage that doesn't feel heavy on warm days.

I actually carry this along with me everyday for the "re-touching". I've used this to my friends as well and it blends in to their skin color immediately!!! Do not expect coverage, again, this is a nice setting powder!

Tips
  • use a retractable kabuki for retouch as the retractable one doesn't get exposed to dirt
  • DO NOT DROP THIS! This is a very delicate product and can easily crack
  • if you have super oily skin: Go for the MAC Studio Fix foundation for touch ups
  • for light to medium coverage: Use this alone over a moisturizer or tinted moisturizer
  • for medium to heavy coverage: use this over liquid foundation and concealer
Will I repurchase?

Yes, because of my dry skin, I am looking for touch up powders that do not dry up my skin :) I still love my P&J Dual Powder Foundation, but on days that I don't need a lot of coverage, this is the one! :)

Where did I purchase and how much?

At local MAC store for Php1,500 (approx $30.00)

The MAC SA told me the right color for me is LIGHT
I agree, this disappears on my skin

Here's how Light looks like on my finger

This is my first MAC MSF!
It was a happy experience! :)
Do you think this will work for you?
Are you using one?

Honest Scrap Award

tagged by Sis Aika from The Diary of Recessionista

I like Aika for being who she is, for not being scared to go out of the box and write and do what she thinks will make her feel good :) That's what you call... A TRUE INDIVIDUAL :)

As the recipient of this Honest Scrap Award comes with some requirements before I can pass this along to another fellow blogger. Quoting from Aika's blog, here are the requirements:

“When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to the said person so everyone knows she/he is real. Choose a minimum of seven (7) blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have seven friends. Show the seven random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with Honest Weblog. Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten (10) honest things about yourself. Then pass it on!”

here are the 10 honest things about me:

  1. I am a super sweet person, a "huggy" type
  2. I hate tardiness, I am an early bird! I hope I catch the right kind of worm *winks*
  3. I take care of my friends like they are my family! Yes, I sound like their mom at times!...ehm..most of the time!
  4. I am an overall actress! I act, I sing, I dance ... teehee I joined singing contests, I was a cheerleader and I was the Directress for our school Drama Club! Oh yeah, I was an editor in our school paper too! NERD! hahaha
  5. No vices ... AT ALL! (told you I'm boring)
  6. I am super honest with my opinions, if I say you look good, YOU REALLY LOOK GOOD! If you ask me for advises, be prepare to hear an honest advise from me!
  7. I am a crybaby! I can't even get angry, if I'm super angry, I cry!!! (embarrassing!)
  8. I can have a decent conversation with anyone ages 0-100! lol In short, I LOVE TALKING!
  9. I am super emphatic, I am serious when I say I know how the person feels. I can be a bit of a psychic by being able to read person's feelings and thoughts (don't start asking me for horoscopes! LOL)
  10. Crazy!!! I am seriously crazy and can ride along with any jokes you throw at me!!!

I know this is a tag and I should tag fellow bloggers. I'm not tagging anyone because I want this to be voluntary, I know some people are not comfortable sharing private matters.

So ..if you want to do this, feel free and let me know!!! I'd love to read it!!!

Thanks again Aika for this tag!
I enjoyed this!

Stay happy! :)

Askmewhats Version: "Rocker Look" Part 2

Hello!!!!
It is definitely not my personality to do a "rocker" look or any wild look on myself! :) But since Yumeko requested me to do a "Black Rocker" look, I obliged, because Yumeko is a sweet girl and her blog makes me happy! :D

Caution: I am definitely not sporting this well, but I hope the effort pays off! LOL

Here's my Black Rocker Look
I made it darker
and feistier!

How did I do this?

Step 1:

I applied MAC Paintpot Cash Flow on the lid (so the eyes doesn't look too dark). Apply a good amount of MAC's Carbon or any matte black e/s all over the lid going a little beyond.

Step 2:

Blend in harshline using any goldish brown e/s. I used Milani's Bronze e/s with MAC's 217 blending brush with wiper motion. Adding black e/s to intensify the color.

Step 3:

Apply Bourjois's Beige Rose or any highlighting powder on the brow bone and inner corner of the eyes.

Step 4:

Using any creamy black eyeliner (Urban Decay's 24/7 in Zero) on the upper and lower lashline including the waterline. Smudge with a pencil brush for a smoked effect.Step 5:

Apply any creamy white eyeliner, (Urban Decay's 24/7 Ye-yo liner) on the inner thirds of the eye, if your eyes are not sensitive, include the inner corner of the whole eye area for a bright look.

Step 6:

Since the black liner on the waterline and lower lashline is creamy and will definitely smudge on me, I top the eyeliner with an e/s to set the eyeliner. I am using MAC's Black Tied or any glittery black e/s.

Of course, fill in your brows with your favorite eyebrow pencil or powder. I made my brows a bit thicker on this look for a "wilder" effect.

Here's my final look!

These products touched
the rest of my rocker face :P

The Face Shop's Silky Foundation in NB21
mixed with Stila's Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer

Set my foundation with Ellana's Intensive Foundation in French Vanilla
with my Baby Kabuki

I blushed with a natural flush
using Revlon's Powder Brush
in Wine and Everything

Moisturized my lips with Kiehl's Lip Balm #1
Top with ELF Tone Correcting Concealer
Light
to remove the natural color of my lips

And are you ready for a seriously
non-rocker look?
I look like a crazy woman here!
I swear!

No, it's not dandruff!
It's ....STRESS! lol

Like I said,
it's my effort that counts :)
Now you know why I love light makeup!Stay happy!!!
