AMW Reviews: Clinique Superpowder Double Face Powder

I'm a powder girl rather than creams and liquids!  It must be because time is so precious for me I wouldn't want to spend a lot of it just on my face as I can literally hear my mom clapping her hands saying: "GO! GO! GO! Hurry up!"  

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that I was trained to be conscious of time!  

Way before Paul & Joe Protective Dual Powder Foundation Days, it was Clinique Superpowder Double Effect for years and years! 

If you click HERE and go back in the year 2008, you can take a peek at my makeup pouch, I've always been a fan of the unique Clinique face powder packaging!  I used to purchase them at Greenhills mall (a tiny store that sells international beauty supplies) during college, where did I get the money you ask?  I actually saved them up from my summer job and part-time tutorial jobs!  (The things I do all in the name of beauty) *laughs*

Today, I may have tried all sorts of powder and powder foundation, it is nice to look back and review my number one love, the "expensive powder most dermatologists recommend" (This is how I used to call Clinique Super Powder) :P

Clinique Superpowder Double Face Powder says ---

A long-wearing 2-in-1 powder and foundation in a portable compact. The long-wearing, full-coverage powder works as an over-foundation finisher or as a powder foundation.  The extra-cling formula provides double coverage, yet leaves the skin with a natural skin-perfecting look.

For combination skin types.  Non-acnegenic.

Pros

• Very "Clinique"packaging. 
• Packaging has a clear manufactured date.

 

• Huge mirror which can be used to apply all over face makeup.

• Washable sponge made of good quality.

• Using light-hand application, it gives a matte finish with a "glow".
• Coverage is build-able.
• Unscented.
• No allergies nor skin irritations.
• Does not dry my "already dry skin".
• Lightweight.
• Looks very natural to use on its own or even as setting powder.
  

Cons

• Shade choices aren't that wide.  Only 4 shades available.

Overall

This is a wonderful face powder that suits dry, normal and combination skin!  The powder foundation is lightweight and you can see the original skin shines through!

As for the price, people may judge this product to be pricey, but for someone like me who have sensitive, dry/combination skin, this is a great "investment" as I vouch on looking for the best product that suits my skin!  Each compact would last me around 3 months or so, so I guess it's worth it.

Tips

• Always start application with a clean face.
• Moisturize well if you have dry skin.
• Not to be used by very oily skin.  Go for Clinique Perfectly Real Powder or much better, go to a Clinique SA and tell them your concern! :)
• Wash the sponge prior to usage and wash as much as you can with soap and water, let dry completely before next use.
• For lighter application or touch-up, apply with the use of a brush.
• Pat your skin with oil blotter prior to retouching your face powder.

Will I repurchase?
Yes.  I've repurchased this product a lot of times!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Clinique Superpowder double face powder is good for dry, combination and normal skin.

At local Clinique counters at Rustan's and Trinoma for Php1,700 (approx $39.50).

A closer look on Matte Ivory

This shade has a bit more "pink" undertone rather than yellow so it's a tiny bit different from my "comfortable" powder shade but I don't mind as I like light-handed application and it matches my neck and the rest of my body! 

If you are accustomed to the MAC shades, this will match NC15-20!

As seen on my close up shot yesterday (the one with bangs), I've used the Clinique Superpowder Double Face Powder in Matte Ivory on its own with moisturizer underneath.  It did not give me the white cast thus making it look like second skin.  This photo was taken 2-3 hours after application prior to make-up gig :P.  

Note: My skin turns into a combination --- dry on the t-zone area and normal on the rest of the face.

Even with my super busy schedule, I'm glad I was able to squeeze in an hour or 2 to color and treat my hair!  I was contacted by Ria, PR Consultant for Hair Philosophie, weeks ago and it was funny how our schedules won't match!  When the day has finally arrived, It was great to finally meet the lovely girl who was kind enough to fix my salon appointment! 

Hair Philosophie salon is located near Salcedo Park and location was easy to find!

As soon as I got in, the "candy area" caught my attention after the FREE WIFI sign!  All you need to do is ask for candies and ask for the WIFI password, I went for the latter and forgot about the candies and honestly speaking?  I'm having regrets!  *laughs*  Those are peppermint candies!!!

AMW Reports: Levi's Water Less Day

Each one of us have probably owned a pair of Levi's jeans or is probably saving up for a pair!  I, for one, had this strange feeling of contentment when I first purchased my pair of Levi's jeans with my first paycheck! 

March 22, 2012 --- marks World Water Day, Levi's will be celebrating this special day with an environment-consciousness effort to preserve our planet by conserving water!

How?

Levi's announced the expansion of its Water (<) Less jeans collection in the Philippines!  With the press release that I've read from Levi's, I just realized how much water was used up just for production itself!

Imagine....

The average pair of jeans uses 42 liters of water in the finishing process!  

That's a whole lot of water for a pair of jeans!  *gulps*

Levi's Water (<) Less  reduce the use of water in the finishing process by up to 96 percent for some styles.  The Levi's brand has already made more than 13 million Water (<) Less products and saved more than 172 million liters of water!

The 172 million liters of water that Levi's Water (<) Less products have saved is equivalent to:

• 726,600,812, 8-ounce glasses of drinking water
• Enough drinking water for 157,000 people for one year!

Tech Review: Boostcase

I seldom charges my phone, I don't know why if you ask me!  I'm just too lazy!!!  *laughs*  

Mr. AMW checks and charges my phone for me and I've had lots of experiences losing my phone battery in the middle of the day and would end up borrowing someone's phone for that "emergency text or call".  *blushes*

I'm not perfect! :P

And I guess a lot of us aren't, because my prayers were answered!  I actually wished for a phone case that charges too!!!  Who would've thought I can foresee the future in technology? :P

Here's what to expect when you purchase your own Boostcase.  You get the snap-on case, the Boostcase battery pack and USB cable.

Pros

• Comes with different color combinations.
• The case is charged and can be used right off the box!
• Easy grip.

• Easy to use, I was able to use this even without reading the manual (not recommended though..hehehe)
• Has a blue LED showing your charging is full or how much battery life is left.

• Can extend the life of my iPhone for a day!
• Can be used for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s.
• Charges pretty fast!  (Sample photo on how fast charging is.)

• The Boostcase battery can be charged while attached on the phone or even on its own.
• The Boostcase battery has an "off" button, you can stop charging even when it is still attach to your phone unit.
• Speaker output is better with the Boostcase battery.

Cons

• The extra case adds "bulk" to your iPhone.
• It is a bit difficult to remove the "charger case" for the first few tries.
• Difficult to remove the case from the phone! (needs practice!)

Overall
Fast charger that gives the extra battery boost anytime of the day!


Tips

• Try not to over charge, this works for all gadgets.
• Click the "on/off" button for 2 seconds to turn charging on or off.
• Since I do not like the "bulky phone" feel, I prefer to take with me the extended battery case storing it inside a pouch to protect the battery case.
• If you are the type who can get away without losing the battery life of your iPhone, you can keep the money and save up.
• If you are a busy person who can't live without your iPhone, and you are always on the go and can't find a charging outlet anytime of the day, YOU HAVE TO GET THIS!

Will I purchase?

Yes!  After reviewing the test unit, I have decided to purchase my very own Boostcase. (Help me decide if I'll go for pink and white or blue and white) I love both colors!

Anyone who needs to extend the life of their iPhone anytime/anywhere.

AMW Reviews: Snoe Eye Boop Precision Liquid Liner

Hello gorgeous boys and girls!  How was the start of the week?  I'm so happy that the weekend is almost near (though I technically do not have this weekend again!)  *laughs*  I am not complaining!  I am very happy with where I am right now and I am thanking the Lord for all the blessings! :)

Another blessing worth thanking for, good yet affordable products, and I'm glad to share, this one is Proudly Philippine-made! 

Read on to know my thoughts on the Snoe Eye Boop Precision Liquid Liner!  I actually finished up my Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner and have been rummaging for my next Liquid Liner...and the "Boop" caught me! :)

Snoe Eye Boop says ---
Give your eyes that Boopy oomph.
Long-lasting, precision eyeliner that dramatically defines and emphasizes the beauty of your eyes.

AMW says ---
Pros

• Cute packaging and cute name!
• Sharp, precised tip.

• Gives a nice, matte black finish.
• Good pigmentation.
• Water-proof and smudge-proof.
• The hard-brushed applicator makes it easier to control and better for liquid liner first-time users. 
• Easy to remove with regular eye makeup remover.
• The liner dries up easily upon application.
• No allergic reactions.
• No weird scent.
• Inexpensive

Cons

• The applicator is not the brush type, it is a bit hard so it may hurt your eye if you're not careful during application.
• SUPER oily lids may find this to smudge a bit on them.  (Consider the humidity of our country)

Overall
Good inexpensive liquid liner worth checking out!

Tips

• Always start with a thin line if you're not used to liner application.
• If you have sensitive eyes, you can use this to "wing" your eyeliner instead of using this all the way.
• Keep this away from your water line.
• For super oily lids, it helps to prime your lids with oil control primer to prevent this liner from smudging.
• Try not to "pump" he applicator in and out of the bottle too much but roll it instead to prevent too much "air" inside the bottle.
• If you are wearing a white top/outfit, it helps to take your time during application and avoid spillage.
• Always apply with "light hand" as the felt tip could hurt the sensitive eyes.
• Since it is difficult to apply this very close to the roots of the lashes, tight-line with your choice of eye pencil after liquid liner application to cover up the "gaps" near the roots of the lashes as shown on photo below.

Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Girls who like to use liquid liner but doesn't have the steady hands!
