AMW Reviews: Mineraux Mulberry Organic Lip Color

I haven't use a lot of lip gloss products lately!  I am actually leaning towards moisturizing lipsticks instead as I like my lips a bit toned down.  My lips are quite picky with the lip products I use because of extreme dryness and weird fullness!  I actually prefer lip tints better on regular days.  That's why when Mineraux came out with an organic lip color that states to combine healing benefits plus nice lip color, I am game to give this a test!

Mineraux Mulberry Organic Lip Color says ---
Organic liquid lip colors that combine healing benefits and vibrant colors that last

Contains: Unrefined Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Organic Meadowfoam Oil, Candelilla Wax, Mica, Iron Oxides, and Tangerine Essential Oil

Size: 6ml

Available in:
Mulberry: Warm pink in sheer gloss
Red Chili: Reddish-pink in sheer gloss
Nectarine: Bronze-copper in high gloss
Grapefruit: Baby pink in sheer gloss
Maple: Pinkish brown in sheer gloss
Passion Fruit: Plum in sheer gloss

AMW says ---

Pros
  • very nice shade, not too overwhelming
  • does not dry the lips
  • looks very natural
  • ingredients are written all over the product, can easily check out ingredient list
  • non-sticky
  • does not leave a yucky film after removing lip color
  • since it works like a moisturizing lipstick, it lasts longer than regular gloss
  • tested by drinking water and coffee, the lip color transfers a bit on cup but the color stays on lips!  Quite impressive!
Cons
  • the sticker packaging, I prefer the brand name printed, but it doesn't matter
  • if you are looking for a super glossy finish, this isn't the one
Overall
This is the first lip gloss packaged product that I've tried that doesn't have a "lip gloss" finish.  It looks like a moisturizing lipstick in a lipgloss bottle!  This product is very smooth and easy to apply.  I actually like this product because I have quite full lips and a very glossy lip gloss will enhance the fullness of my lips, so I actually like the subtle glow it gives instead of the "Hi!  My face consists of one huge lips" look!

The healing benefits of the lip color is too early to tell but I like the fact that my lips does not dry out every after usage.

Tips
  • if lips are extremely dry, exfoliate lips once or twice a week and leave with petroleum jelly or your favorite lip treatment
  • apply lip liner prior to this lip color application to make the lip color last longer
  • after every usage, I prefer wiping the wand with paper towel or cloth to prevent bacteria from growing
  • do not share lip gloss using the same wand to others, use a lip brush or applicator
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

Where to purchase and how much?

AMW Reviews: Mineraux Plum Blush

One Mineraux product that I can't stop raving is their Mineraux Beach Tan bronzer.  It was a Blush for the Week and I even revisited it and it maintained it's HG (holy grail) status for the past months. I am seldom a fan for mineral blushes because it doesn't stay as long as regular blushes!  I'm glad to be introduced again to a Mineraux product.  This time, it's their blush in shade PLUM!

Mineraux Plum Blush says ---

Finely-milled minerals that are highly pigmented and provide a warm, sheer and natural finish

Ingredients: Sericite, Titanium Dioxide, Silk Powder, Magnesium Stearate and Iron Oxides (imported from USA and Canada.  Packaged and perfected in the Philippines)

Plum: Matte plum. Best for medium and fair skin tones.

Available in other shades: Nude, Peach, Pink, Pink-Peach, Raspberry, Auburn, Rose Wine and Cherry Blossom

AMW says ---

Pros
  • very pigmented, a little definitely goes a long way
  • very natural looking
  • stays longer than other mineral blushes I've tried
  • inexpensive
  • no allergic reactions
  • packaging is simple.  Sealed if brand new.
  • shipment is quick and packed really well
Cons
  • can be a bit messy for non-mineral makeup user
  • difficult to take along if you like to travel with cosmetics
Overall
I love matte blushes because of it's natural look!  I can seldom find mineral blushes in matte form and I am glad to have found this!  Plum shade is very pretty and shows up really nice not only in person but also on photographs!

Tips
  • I am a pro-cream blush user prior to powder blush application
  • for natural flush: swirl, tap and apply using a bigger blush blush on the apples of your cheeks
  • for a more dramatic blush: use a smaller blush brush or angled brush to apply this
  • applied too much? Apply more setting powder or powder foundation on top of the blush to lessen the blush pigmentation
Will I repurchase?
Yes!  In other shades!

Anyone who's on my Facebook friends know this photo, this is my profile picture as shot by  my dearest brother who came home for a vacation.  I've got queries over email on my makeup.  I don't have much on but a powder foundation, a blush and a lipstick!  And the blush I've used is.... you guessed it right --- Mineraux's Plum Blush!  I like how natural it looks and never over the top :)

Hope you had a wonderful Chinese New Year's and Valentine's Day celebration!

Something New: Mineraux Enviro Brush Set

Happy Friday!!! Thank goodness!  Finally!  Friday is here!  Am I the only one whining??? This week has been too long for me!!!!

I am a brush whore!  Everyone who knew me should know that!  I seldom bring a lot of makeup and tools along with me on a daily basis but you just can't imagine my "collection" for travel brushes!  I am seriously sick!  I need help!  *hahaha*

My first travel brush set was from G-Lish, it was way back before blogging that I can't even seem to take a shot of it as it has been split up to my friends!  Then came the smallest travel brush set of mine from The Body Shop Mini Brush Kit which I purchased and yet, it was left as a "display" because of it's super cute size!

I can go on and on with my travel brush sets and you'd think I'll stop...obviously I didn't!  That's why this post is around! *sigh*

Remember the time I got introduced to the brand Mineraux?  I got to know about their foundation, concealer and blushes!  I'm glad to know the brand has expanded and they offer tools for the trade!

Mineraux's Enviro Brush Set

These brushes are imported from the USA and Canada and tested locally to fit the needs of the Pinays.  They are made from top-grade natural and synthetic hair/fiber.  At first glance, it's simple wooden handle reminded me of environmental friendly products like Ecotools.  The brushes are  well made and the synthetic fibers are soft and does not shed on first few washes!  There's no brand name imprinted or brush name which  inspired me to take out  my "NIKKI" stickers to label MY brushes!

The set includes Mini K-brush

Long handled face/buffer brush

Concealer brush.

Eyeshadow brush

Eye brow brush/Angled eyeliner brush

These brushes are housed in a chocolate brown hemp "envelope" which protects your brushes during travel.  I also like to include mini foundation pot inside the case!

How much you ask?  It's priced at Php990.00 (approx $21.50) to be purchased at Mineraux website!  Not bad!  No wonder it's their bestselling brush set!  Hay...will I ever stop?  I doubt it!  Brushes are really important for me!  No wonder my brush washing time doubled!  :)

Have a lovely weekend ahead!

Askmewhats Reviews: Mineraux Skin Perfecting Minerals Green Corrector

Happy Thursday everyone!

This is the last Mineraux product (for now) that I will review, I enjoyed my Mineraux experience so far and I am seriously impressed with their products and I have a feeling they'll go a long way!

Green correctors. A lot of my clients asked me why I'm using green correctors on them...I know a lot of you beauties know the answer! Green concealers are used to correct "redness", sometimes, even people with the best skin do suffer redness, either from pimples...allergies etc...

I have mostly allergies that pops in and out! Just to make sure I don't have the "flushed" look the whole day, I do use green correctors depending on my mood. Using a cream green corrector daily is a bit of a hassle, I want something, fast...easy and of course..inexpensive!

That's when Mineral Green Correctors come in handy!

Mineraux Green Corrector says ---

CORRECTORS: Finely-milled minerals that provide complete coverage in problematic areas

Green: Combats redness caused by acne, rashes, or pricking. Often used after laser treatments and chemical peels to reduce redness.

Contains: Sericite, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxide and Silk Powder

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • does minimize redness
  • a little goes a long way
  • gives out a nice matte look
  • stays the whole day
Cons
  • for dry skin: This may further dry out your skin
  • a bit messy compared to cream/liquid correctors
Overall

I own a couple of mineral green correctors from different mineral companies. I found myself reaching out for the Mienraux Skin Perfecting Green Corrector because this seriously goes a long way for just a tiny amount.

If you're wondering if I'll look like "The Incredible Hulk" right after application? NO.. it actually looks natural after buffing it into my skin.

Tips
  • use a flat brush to buff a little amount of green corrector all over face (I like this application better)
  • if your skin is on the dry side like mine: Make sure to moisturize your face well before application
  • spot correct redness: use a taklon concealer brush, and tap on the green corrector gently on the redness
  • never use this alone, always buff on mineral foundation for a more even and smooth coverage
  • use this together with mineral powder foundation, never liquid foundation
  • contour your face or apply a nice blush to make your face lively, as using a green corrector over your foundation makes your face "boring"
Will I repurchase?

Yes, this is my daily corrector.

Where to purchase and how much?

At Mineraux website for
30g jar: Php 600 (approx $12.50)
20g jar: Php 500 (approx $10.42)
10g jar: Php 330 (approx $6.88)
5g jar Sampler: Php 180 (aprox $3.75)

Here's to show you the "greeness" of this green!

I usually have redness on:
1. sides of the nose
2. forehead area
3. cheeks (due to allergies)

Mineraux Skin Perfecting Minerals Green Corrector
buffed all over face with EDM Flat Top Brush
Applied Mineraux Mineral Foundation

You can actually see on photo how "matte" and clean my face looks!
Now my face is ready for blush and eye makeup application!
Now that's what I call a clean canvass! :)

Do you ever use green correctors?

Askmewhats Reviews: Mineraux Skin Perfecting Mineral Foundation

A couple of months ago, I've attended the Mineraux Launch and posted about their site being fully operational comes June! The month is July! As I took a peek at their site, I am so happy it's fully operational! Check out www.mineraux.com.ph!

My dear reader and turned out to be friend Nancy *waves hi!* messaged me and asked me about the Mineraux Foundation. A perfect way to answer her query by sharing this review to her and to everyone else! :)

Introducing
Mineraux Skin Perfecting Minerals
Foundation

Mineraux Foundation says ---

Finely-milled minerals that provide medium to heavy coverage
Natural finish

Contains: Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Sericite, Iron Oxide, Magnesium Stearate, and Boron Nitride

Ingredients imported from USA and Canada. Packaged and perfected in the Philippines

Available in:
Cool Fair
Cool Medium
Warm Fair
Warm Medium
Warm Medium-Tan
Olive Fair
Olive Medium
Olive Medium-Tan
Neutral Fair
Neutral Medium
Neutral Medium-Tan

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • Medium to full coverage, depending on your application
  • no allergies and doesn't irritate my skin
  • doesn't leave my dry skin drier
  • matte but at the same time exudes a nice "glow"
  • locally available
  • affordable as a little product goes a long way
  • evens out uneven skin tone
  • many shades to choose from
  • website: Uses real life photos, easier to check out the shades
  • website: easy to navigate and very easy to the eyes
Cons
  • if you have very oily skin, retouching is needed as I have dry skin but I see the sites of my nose oil up a bit after half a day
Overall

This is part of my daily mineral foundation rotation between Ellana (my favorite) and Joppa (another favorite), since I lightened up a bit due to the rainy season, I alternate Ellana and Mineraux Foundation because the shades are more matched!

Mineraux Skin Perfecting Mineral Foundation is definitely promising and it's a wonderful fact that it's a local brand. Though the products are sourced from suppliers in the US and Canada, it is nice to know that each product are chosen with the basis of Pinay needs!

I don't want to be quoted but I would compare the texture of the Mineraux Foundation to somewhat similar to Joppa Foundation. The same heavy coverage it can give with a very light feel! (this is my opinion)

With the price and cheap shipping rate as you purchase it locally, I think this is definitely something we can look into for our mineral needs :D

Did you know that?

I still love my Mineraux Beach Tan Bronzer!!! It's still reigning as my top fave blush!

Tips
  • always try on applying mineral foundation using various brush to find the right one, I prefer using my Ecotools Kabuki brush
  • to prevent "powder" look, spritz on Evian/Mac fix+ or Charged water on your face after buffing the mineral foundation
  • use a concealer brush, buff on the foundation to the taklon concealer brush and pat on spots --- VOILA! You have a mineral concealer!
Will I repurchase?

Not sure, I still have a lot left!

Where to purchase and how much?

At Mineraux website
10g jar: Php 330 (approx $6.90)
20g jar: Php 500 (approx $10.42)

Askmewhats Version: "Shiny, Shimmery, Splendid" Look

I have done many FOTD's in the past and most of them consists of matte and a bit of frost, seldom have I tried using dominant shimmery shadows as I find it quite hard to do it nice enough for photos. Well there's always time to practice and there's always a first time! Here's my version of a Shiny, Shimmery and Splendid eye look, a whole new world of difference when I changed my regular black or brown eyeliner to a colored one! Yes, it's Barney Eyeliner color! :D

Final eye look

A diagram

Prior to eyeshadow application:
Prime my lids with MAC's Shadestick in Beige-ing.

Step 1:
Using a flat shader brush (Mac's 242), pat on Inuovi Dust in Moonstone. Add if needed til you reach desired result.

Step 2:
Using a blending brush, apply MAC's Falling star on the outer v, blending harsh lines. Add more color if needed

Step 3:
Using the same blending brush, deepen the outer v by applying a matte brown e/s, I am using Milani's Chocolate Brown, making sure to blend in harsh lines again.

Step 4:
Apply highlighting powder on the browbone area going straigth to the inner corner of the eyes.

Step 5:
Line your eyes with Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Deep Purple. You can use any colored gel liner/pencil liner or liquid liner.

Do not forget to apply falsies
or 2 coats of mascara
I used Lancome Oscillation Mascara

Now you're ready to party!

And let's not forget
to fill in those brows!

For the Face:

Buff on Mineraux Green Corrector all over face to reduce redness
Buff Mineraux Premium Foundation in Neutral Medium

Askmewhats Report: Mineraux Event

Mineraux, what is Mineraux?

Mineraux actually is a mineral company to look forward to this coming June. They are owned by Ms. Melissa Patricio-Vergara with her partners Joanna Clemente and Kristine Ongcuangco. They are 3 friends who share the same passion for mineral make-up!

I am excited to try this brand because.... It's Mineral! And it's Pinay made! Who knows Pinay skin more than Pinays right?

The launch happened at the Barcino Spanish Wine Cellar at Fort Bonifacio. I have the chance to talk to 2 of the owners Melissa and Joanna on the day.

L-R Melissa and Joanna

I like it that it felt like a gathering for friends who love make-up. It was very informal and questions are answered directly. Phoebe asked about their bestseller and we learned that the Skin Perfecting Foundation and their Bronzers are their bestsellers! Now that got me excited to try them. We were also served with wine and snacks. Isn't that great? Make-up talk, food and drinks! Now that's relaxation!

We had a chance to take a peek at their traincase full of their product lines. We had fun swatching them and oohhed and ahhhd over our favorites.
