A Drugstore Foundation That Looks Seamless and Natural

Does exist!  It is called the Wet N Wild Ultimate Match SPF15 Liquid Foundation.
At a glance, this is a sheer to light water-based foundation that looks so natural it's almost like second skin!

BUT, if you are the type who need "High Coverage" on a daily basis, this may not be for you.  If you are the type who wants to let your skin breathe and you only need just a bit of coverage to even out your skin, you may read further and check out photos!

But firstly, according to Wet N Wild website, this is a simple, traditional foundation - a smooth formula that's not too thick or too sheer but perfect for your everyday routine.  It has a silky formula that helps even out flaws, protects your skin with added SPF15 and gives a semi-matte finish.

True enough, the description of the product lives up to my expectation, and more!

Swatch: NUDE
Nude shades are usually on a Cool Tone side (referring to other brands), for someone who is "very warm" (at heart and on skin tone LOL!)  I usually can't seem to wear anything that has a cool tone as it will either turn gray or just too plain unnatural on me!  Since this foundation from Wet n Wild is more on the warm side, I am surprised to announce that it works like magic on my skin!   Check out how the foundation blends in like my second skin!

Wet n Wild Mega Glo Illuminating Powder Review

So it's all illuminating for me nowadays!  Why?  Because my skin is dry (from stress and lack of sleep) and seriously, looking at my skin condition, I ain't getting any younger for sure!  So my choice of blush nowadays are quite unique, I am always on a look out for dual-purpose blush!  A blush color + illumination!  And I got that from Wet n Wild Mega Glow Illuminating Powder, the shade I got is called Strike-A-Pose-Rose!

Wet n Wild is locally distributed by Sprint Asia Beauty, I got this as a Mother's Day gift last month and I've been using this non-stop whenever I bring Kyle to school!  Why?  Because I almost never wear makeup because I'm just a driver and yaya for my son for half a day! :P

Tips on Online Shopping for Makeups

Remember my makeup online shopping post HERE?  The blush from Sleek Make Up in Rose Gold looks amazing right?  And you are probably tempted to buy online since I also gave my dear AMW readers a code BLX-ASMEWHATS to get 25% off on first order!

I will definitely head on and shop right away!  Nothing to lose right?  Well, thankfully, my readers are smart readers! Instead of jumping into the shopping bandwagon like I used to 8 years ago, most of you actually emailed me to ask about my online shopping experience via Luxola.  So here I am creating this special post --- Tips on Online Shopping and I'll also include the 2 blushes I got from there!  I got 3 and they are all SPOT ON!  I am more than happy with my purchase as the shades I got are meant for me!

So let me share to you first my haul and scroll further down after the photos for tips when it comes to Online Shopping.

Marsala Inspired Lipsticks - Drugstore Edition

Happy Monday!  The nerd in me over the weekend rummaged through my lipstick stash for "Marsala" hued lipstick shades that I currently own!  Yes, I took the time and effort to swatch and compare because I am actually excited with this year's Pantone Color of the year!

It must be the 90's blood in me!  Well, I'm really an 80's baby but I definitely started to wear lipstick during the 90's!  Can I just say Late 90's para hindi mukhang matanda?  *Laughs*

Something New: Wet n' Wild and Orly Products!

I recently got a cute package from my friends from Sprint Asia Beauty!  A little tidbit from me:  The owner of Sprint Asia Beauty is my schoolmate and I'm proud of her for venturing into this industry and they are carrying products that makeup mavens like myself go ga-ga for!

Example: Temptu, L.A. Colors, Wet n' Wild, Orly, Make-Up Designory, Beautyblender, VOV, Airstocking, Remington & Denco.

I SUPPORT!!!

I don't have the heart to open the cute packaging because it reminded me so much of "Aruba, Jamaica, oohh I wanna take you to Bermuda, Bahama...come on pretty momma!"  *le sigh*  The beautiful "sea sells seashells by the seashore"  I don't miss the intense heat but I definitely miss the fun and colors of summer!

AMW Reviews: Wet N' Wild ColorIcon Blusher in Mellow Wine

Hi everyone!
Let's talk about blush!  When I started my love for makeup, I actually started on blushes!  I purchased random drugstore brands both local and international ones!  One of my favorite local brand is the Aido blush and it's actually housed in a simple round packaging and I could never ever finish them up!  I tend to lose them and purchase a new one!

Now that there are so many international makeup brands coming in, we tend to look into expensive blush brands and forget about the inexpensive ones and mind you, some works just as good as the expensive ones!  Today, I will be sharing another good find girls who are on a budget may want to try!

 Wet N' Wild ColorIcon Blusher
(not the original packaging on sale)

Just by looking at the packaging, it spells boring and blah.... but this is the perfect time for me to say: "Please don't judge the book by it's cover" or in this case, please don't judge the blush by it's cover!

I Wonder: What's Your Favorite French Tip Combination?

Happy Tuesday AMW Friends!
Another I wonder moment today as I get to be a nosy woman every now and then!  (actually, all the time!)  Let's get back to basic when it comes to nail polish and nail art.  Before I got into nail art craze, I was so in love with French Tip application (still am at the moment) and it was one of those nail polish application that frustrated me as I can't seem to get the even lines that I went!  I even saved up my allowance that time to purchase my first Sally Hansen French Tip set that comes with strip stickers to guide me.  I still wasn't that successful then!

That's when I realized, creating your first French tip doesn't really require you those stickers or tapes, it all boils down to picking the right shades of nail polish!  Matte polish doesn't work for first timers and after years of testing various combinations, I finally found one that is subtle, yet works even for beginners!

The Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Colors
These 2 came in set, I got these a year or 2 years ago but I recently tried both polish out and guess what?  It was the easiest combination to create my kind of French tip!  A classy one!

Let's start with the base color called Sugar Coat, the color is a milky, pale pink shade and I need at least 2 layers for the color (I want) to show up.

Imagine the color of fake nails?  This is the one!

Making sure the base polish is completely dry, I picked up the next shade to use as my "French Tip", usually, people would pick a matte white nail polish shade but I find that a bit too bright and easy to spot if the lines are uneven.  Break the Ice is a beautiful shimmer white polish with frosty finish.

Since my nails are short, I prefer applying it vertically as shown on photo below.  The frosted finish will always create a better effect and less mistakes are shown!

Final look before Top Coat application.  As you can see, the effect came out really natural and classy!  This is my to-go-to simple French Tip application if I need to attend formal affairs like weddings!

**Wet N Wild nail colors are locally distributed by Sprint Asia Beauty.  Visit www.sprintasiabeauty.com for more product information.  Like Wet n' Wild Philippines on Facebook.

Nail Art Tutorial: Colorful Leopard Prints

Happy Tuesday AMW friends!  Today, I will be sharing another very simple nail art design good for short nails and even better for first time nail art designers!  As my tummy is growing bigger and bigger each week, I've decided to keep my nail art designs as simple as possible as I'm getting ready to be the busy "mom" I'll soon be!

Animal prints have alway been an easy yet "head turner" type of nail art design.  This time, to create a lively vibe on the usual Leopard Print, I've decided to make it colorful!  Of course, there's no such Leopard in this world with such colorful prints but we can always bend rules and create nail art designs we like!

Step 1:
Apply 2 coats of your preferred base.  Since I want to make the colorful prints pop, I've decided to use a matte white polish from Orly Nail Lacquer called Day Glow.  Let dry.

AMW Reviews: Wet n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color

Another week is here and I can't believe its mid-October already!  I know I've been complaining how long my morning sickness has been but come to think of it, time flew by pretty quickly still (to most of you..lol) and I am excited for Christmas! :)

Now, I haven't been sporting any polish shade on both my toes and fingers but that doesn't mean I've stopped myself at staring at the gorgeous colors different brands have to offer!

Recently, I got my first Wet n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color as a gift because I was told this is perfect for me as the polish doesn't have the BIG 3 we're scared of!  Because I've been suffering from morning sickness and my pregnancy hormones gave me the dog's sense of smell, I can't seem to stay long inside a room with a polish scent so I asked my dearest sister to test this polish for me!  Well, right after I played with the polish myself using fake nails!

The gorgeous shade I got is called Through the Grapevine (208B)

Wet n Wild says ---

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Nice simple bottle.
  • Brush!  The wide brush head makes it easier to apply even for first-time polish wearers.
  • Free of Toluene, Phthalate and Formaldehyde!
  • Good pigmentation even at 1 coat.
  • Has a good shine even prior to top coat application.
  • According to my sister, this lasted her 3.5 days even with heavy housework! (without base and topcoat)
  • Price!
Cons
  • The scent.  The strong, regular nail polish scent is still there.
Overall
Lovely pigmentation.  Consistency is creamy and good.  The polish lasts for at least 3 days and could go longer with a good base and top coat.

Tips
  • Store all your polishes in cool, dry place.
  • To keep your nails healthy, use a good base coat and top coat prior to any nail polish application.
  • Polish application should be done in a room without electric fan.
  • Do not wash your hands at least 30 minutes before polish application to prevent bubbles from forming.
  • Do the "wrapping method" to make your polish last longer.
  • Smile and click HERE to read my previous post on how to apply polish correctly.
Will I repurchase?
YES!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Nail polish wearers who would want to protect their nails and skin from harmful chemicals!  I was told this can even be used by preggies!

Where to purchase and how much?
Priced locally Php199.00 (approx $4.74). Available at SM Department Store Makati, Megamall, North Edsa , Cubao, Fairview, Manila, San Lazaro, Las Pinas.  Watsons Personal Care Store Megamall and Mall of Asia.

Pro brush that's flat and wide, with practice,
you can get to apply your polish without a mess!

 Through the Grapevine
(Left - 1 coat, middle and right - 2 coats)
A lovely fuchsia shade that has a hint of plum.
This shade would work well on all ages and would look good on any skin tone!
As seen on swatch below, this would do good even with just 1 coat.

Ahhh, I can totally see how great the color looks on me!
Through the Grapevine --- soon, I'll get to use you! :P

Do you use nail polishes even if they have the BIG 3?
Would you give Wet n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color a try?

Good morning!
Today, I will be sharing my first Wet n Wild lipstick I've tried and so far, the brand didn't fail me!  I've tried their polishes and eyeshadow quads in the past and who would've thought they're coming up with a lipcolor so nice I don't mind using even as of today? :)

Wet n Wild says ---

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Cute shade names!
  • Clear cap which makes it easy for me to see the shade.
  • Creamy consistency.
  • Pigmented.
  • Very mild to almost no fragrance.
  • Non-drying.
  • Staying powder is ok.  Can last half a day.
  • Has SPF.
  • Price!
Cons
  • The lipstick does not retract completely which makes it easy to accidentally dent the lipstick! *ouch*
Overall
I can't vouch on all the Wet n Wild Megashield Lipcolor shades as I've tried only one.  As for the shade It's A Girl, I appreciate the fact that the one swipe would give me a nice pink shade that would work on both cool and warm skin tones.  The Megashield Lipcolor is creamy, pigmented and has a good amount of moisture that doesn't dry out my lips.

Tips
  • Be very careful in closing the cap.
  • If you have very dry lips, apply your choice of lip balm prior to lipstick application.
  • For a matte finish, blot your lips with a napkin or apply a tiny bit of powder on top.
  • For longer-lasting finish, use a similar colored lip pencil underneath.
  • For a glossy shine, pick a clear or similar shade lip gloss and apply on top of the lip color.
  • Always store in cool, dry place.
  • Once signs of irritations occur, STOP usage!
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who doesn't mind experimenting on different brands of lipsticks!
